Big changes to the bars at Disney resorts

Enter DBP, the Disney Boozing Plan....

Not much of a liquor drinker, so I don't really have a beef with this.

But if they stop serving Tusker Lager, something's gonna BURN! :drinking1

Hey--they might just do that. Then we'd have standardized beer- Bud, Coors, Mick Ultra.

This is really a shame! We have noticed this going on with the food menus for years & now the drinks!

What's next the same beer in Rose & Crown as in Germany!?
:sad2:

Danm that Disney Dinning Plan. Danm it to Helll!

Oh, wait, nevermind.

Back to the other threads to blame the Dining Plan for changes....

Who says Disney has lost its focus? They're operating on a business plan that would be envied by Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Walgreen's...Oh wait, they're all operating with the same plan? Nevermind. :worried:

Oh, I think the DDP is totally to blame. It's the same game plan....standardization and dumbing down of the offerings, meanwhile hoping your captive audience is too dumb to notice.

I guess it's a chicken or the egg thing. But the DDP is an integral part of it.

I'll make cocktails in the room at night with my own supplies.

My new favorite lounge at WDW: Elfstar's! What's the room number? ;)
You could pay for your trip with tip money from Dis-ers :teeth:

The DDP is to blame for changes at the bars - which aren't on the DDP? For standarization in drinks, which aren't on the dining plan?

Sad news. My husband bought me a Mai Tai at the GF in September as we were supposed to be staying at the Polynesian and it is one of our traditions there. It was horrible....I would never have even been able to identify it as a Mai Tai! But I suppose if they don't have the proper ingredients..... Sad change

Just wondering how many of the posters to this thread stopped at Guest Relations and left a written complaint about the standardization?

Well, we sure didn't but on the other hand we hadn't heard about any standarization. I just figured it was a bad drink. I didn't even tell my DH as he was sweet to get it for me as a surprise.

As far as that goes, I'm going to wait and see other reports. Sometimes we on the DIS take a "sky is falling" approach to a single report based on what two bartenders told Forever42. Remember the monorail through the Swolphin...how many of us have been told that by CMs?

BTW, jodifla I wasn't trying to pick on you with my response about the DDP. I had noticed the other thread about the DDP but hadn't noticed who started it or even opened it. Is there an icon for "foot in the mouth?" :badpc:

DH and I had a grand long term plan to eventually visit all the different resort bars (we usually hit a couple each trip), so this really stinks as far as I'm concerned. :( What's the point of going to different bars if they all serve the exact same drinks with no specialties??? :sad2:

I'm with Elfstar- I can make better (and cheaper) drinks in the room and then enjoy them on the balcony!

I can attest that those boxes of wine fit easily in your luggage ... and they don't break!

I recently had a discussion with the executive offices regarding the menu and drink changes. Received the company line...just giving people what they want and Disney has to make money because it's a public company (duh!)...

What sent us over the edge was seeing a Kungaloosh on the menu at Cape May. I said in my letter that that was plain wrong!

So I would hope all of you express your displeasure by writing the corporate offices:

Last year, they had changed the resort bar menus so that they all sold the same standard drinks.... except there was one page on each menu that had 5-6 specialty drinks only offered at that resort. I actually didn't mind that too much.

Am I to understand that all those specialty drinks have been removed, though? What about the Lapu Lapu at the Poly?
