Big changes in concierge

FYI-Just received an email response from the Poly Concierge. All of the offerings seem to be unchanged from our last stay in July of '04. This could change at any time, I'm sure, but that is always the case!

I spoke with Alana and with Amy at YC/BC/BWI and they said that Disney decided to "standardize" the resorts as far as the concierge lounges a while back, but this was done many months ago. They just are serving the same "types" of offerings, not necessarily the same things. Wine service from 5-7 is still served at YC as it always has been. Any other time you can ask for it if you would like. I wonder if the OP was looking for it at another time than 5-7. They went and personally checked for me. No difference than before and said they knew of no other changes expected. I even received an e-mail this morning saying they had checked with management to be sure nothing was in the works. Everyone can still get their wine in the evenings. :goodvibes

I'm confused by all these posts. The offerings at the Poly look the same to me. We are staying at the YC in August.

Are there hot items in the evening at the YC lounge? Any idea what they are? Is there a schedule of these offerings similar to that of the Poly?

I have some friends who are on their way to different CL's this week. I haven't seen much reported on any changes at the other resorts, so hopefully we'll get some information from them when they return. Just trying to address some concerns that were brought up and not looking to upset anyone.[/QUOTE]

If you hear anything please keep us posted. We are staying AKL concierge in June. We don't plan on eating our meals in the lounge, with the exception of a light breakfast some mornings, but do enjoy the evening snacks. I would be disappointed if they made a lot of cutbacks. We also love the oatmeal in the morning - hopefully that is still there!!!

Yikes. This is making me nervous. We are staying at AKL concierge for our anniversary in August. It will be our first time, so I guess I wouldn't notice anything different anyway. We are doing both safaris offered at AKL concierge.

The one thing that I know for sure is that the freshly made oatmeal has been gone from the lounge for about 6 months. That's been replaced by the packets of oatmeal that you need to mix with hot water. My guess is that you will still receive the same excellent pre-planning and on-site service as before and won't notice much of a difference in the lounge.

Have fun.

Just caught up on all these pages! Wow-can't believe it. They have changed the concierge descriptions on all the WDW resort pages-they've taken out the dessert and cordials completely.

We stayed BC CL in March and did notice that there seemed to be alot less offered compared to our other stays. Also noticed that the desk wasn't "manned" quite as often-are they cutting back staff too?

They also did not have robes in the rooms and we had turndown about every other night. Disappointing - if this is the case I'll have my TA make our PS's and stay non-concierge.

PatriciaH we are staying CR 14th floor labor day weekend and are so looking forward to it. Looks like great offerings.

I hope the food doesn't get cut back, we've enjoyed great concierge service at many of the Disney hotels in the past.

I guess I will have to wait and see how much has changed. I will not stay concierge just for the pre-planning services because I have had a lot of problems with the 1 thing I was using pre-planning for. If the food offerings in the lounge are cut back quite a bit this may be our last concierge stay.

Have not heard a thing about any cut backs. Have a great time and enjoy that view! ::MickeyMo

just as a matter of fact, DVC members are not charged, nor are DDE members for valet.

Regarding DDE members... We get complimentary valet parking when dining, we do *not* receive complimentary valet parking when staying at a resort.

agnes!

mom rules where did you find on the walt disney world website about what the concierge at the Poly food offerings they have. I can't find it anywhere. Please post the link. I emailed the Poly concierge directly and they are still offering the cordials.

Here's what I found on the WDW Website re: YC concierge:

Concierge service at the Regatta Club includes personalized front desk and guest services, robes, make-up mirror, turndown service, and lounge with Continental breakfast, midday snacks, afternoon tea, evening wine and cheese, and evening cordials and dessert.

This does not appear to be a change.

There was no afternoon tea when we were at there in December, but that is something that I know the GF serves. Perhaps this a change then and an enhancement at the YC.

I'll have to keep an eye out on this thread......

We usually do AKL at Christmas. Whether we do so again this year will remain to be seen.

Good luck to all....

d we had turndown about every other night.

Wow, we had it EVERY night just for the asking when staying at the Deluxe non-concierge!

Guys, I never said that there were changes in the robes, make-up mirrors, or turndown service. I also never said that there wasn't wine, I just forgot it in my first post. I was tired after having done a whirlwind 3 days at Disney and had just walked in the door after driving over 3 hours in the car myself to get home.
For some reason people seem to be questioning me. Listen, the food choices have dwindled completely, at least at the Yacht Club. There is a large difference in what used to be offered and what there is now. I reported this and also posted what I was told my different CM's on the floor. Why they told me this is beyond me if it's not the case. They may have started the changes months ago and they're now fully implemented.
Disney is doing cutbacks, I feel it's evident everywhere. One of the reasons our friend quit was he said it wasn't the same. He had been in charge of all the restaurants (until he gave up the Yachtsman) at the Y&B Clubs as well as in-room dining and the mini bars. I only posted this as information. I for one would have been really upset if I had spent a lot of extra money for a long vacation and noticed these changes. There are a few of us who don't use the planning aspect of the concierge floor and stay only because of the lounges. The rooms are the same, there are blow dryers in every room and you can have turn down in every room at the deluxes. The only difference is the pre-planning staff and the lounge. To someone like me who uses the floor to make my life easier with the kids, I just can't justify spending the extra money, whether it's $100 or $125 per night with the cutbacks they have made. Maybe it's time I try another resort!
