BIG change to FP+ today

captain eo is horrible I heard they used it at Guantanamo Bay to try to get prisoners to talk :crazy2:

You guys have got to stop saying how bad Captain EO is. We have had some of our biggest laughs in that show. We love to crowd watch people as they "try" to dance to the songs or sing along. One year we saw a lady actually start crying during it. It's a blast (as long as you're not watching the movie). :lmao:

There are still tons of people selecting day of.

Yeah, but those are people that would never have bothered to even get a FP before (or wouldn't have known about it) so they are happy with anything.

I agree, like you-Disney probably recognizes there are tons of new happy guests with this system.

I had just booked all our FP+s for our upcoming trip when the new Epcot restrictions kicked in. I decided not to touch my Epcot plans. Then MDE somehow (possibly through my aunt doing online checkin, but also possibly through a glitch) unlinked my uncle's MDE profile from his room reservation (replacing FIRST M LAST--[complete with profile] with MIDDLE LAST--[who doesn't have a profile]) and deleted all his FP+ reservations.

The system let me copy my all FP+ reservations back to my uncle's account once I reassociated it with their room reservation--even the Epcot days which have multiple headliners both days. I still don't dare change anything else about Epcot, but I was pleasantly surprised I was able to fix this problem without a call to Disney (and really, that I was able to fix it at all!).

Seriously? Last I heard FP+ didn't have a reserved section anymore, how long ago did this happen?

It was earlier last month. I tried to find the thread to see the date but couldn't locate it. Maybe that's why there is not FP+ reserved section for Fantasmic anymore.

My kids wanted to know what it was, so we found it on youtube. They didn't last long. My oldest daughter said "that stinks." My son (6) thought it was hilarious. So whenever someone says something stinks, he asks "Does it stink like Michael Jackson?" I'm still not sure if stinks=bad to him.

It's really kind of sad because Captain EO was pretty cool for its time. Disney needs to put something else in there, stat!

Hmmm...I wonder what Michael Jackson used to smell like :rotfl:

I think your story is adorable!

I just spent 2 days reading all 52 pages....:faint:
...and I still no nothing.:badpc:

Why don't they just release the details about the system so we can all move on with our lives!? :headache:

Then what would we all do with our time ;)

Nor seriously, I agree. I fully recognize that this is a test and that it will change and be tweaked as time goes on, but there should be a page with all the rules and when they are changing something they should post the changes and date the changes will go into affect. I just HATE not knowing things.

If they let everyone know what they were doing and when a lot of people would probably delay their trips and they couldn't get the info they want so everyone going will be a lab rat(whether you opt in or out) until they roll it out.

I think everyone who presumes that this restriction will open up more FP+ is being overly optimistic.

I think this change means that more resort guests will get a FP+ for ONE of the Epcot headliners.

I went to Epcot on 10/23. An evening EMH day, and not recommended park, but an overall 3 crowd level. Surely every day during Christmas week will have more people in Epcot than I saw that day?

We made a last minute switch to go to Epcot the day before. At 9pm the night before (on a Wed in the middle of October) there were NO FP+ available for either headliner. Checked again the next morning at 8:55am, still none for either. Checked again at 9:01am, they have availability (some are obviously held back). Switched one of my other FP+ to Soarin', head back to switch another to Test Track - and none there. Could not have been later than 9:05am when I looked. If I had not been in the 9:00-9:05 window, I would have not had either headliner. And both had FP- gone for the day by the time we arrived at the park at 10am.

Don't mean to be a downer, but I don't think this one headliner restriction is about trying to free up more FP-. I think they are just trying to reduce the number of people with FP+ who get shut out of both.

Now, on extreme low crowd days, this may free up more FP-, if all the FP+ are not booked. But, I sincerely doubt they have reduced the number of FP+ available during thees times. I think people heading to the parks with those expectations are going to be disappointed.

Oh no! Another person disappointed at FP+!!!
How could it be???
Everyone with negative response must be negative nellies and should just not bother going ...

(Btw, I'm being sarcastic... Just in case it didn't come through :) )

We had almost exact experience as you regarding trying to change FPs the day before.
So we are not a huge fan of the new system.
If it wasn't for FP- we would have probably missed the TT and Soarin as well.
And no our world would not have crumbled if we had to miss them but it would make EPCOT be a quarter day park for us instead of a half day or maybe even a 0 day since it may not be worth it for us to go there depending on crowd level.

I didn't read this whole thread, so excuse me if I'm repetitive.

I was at WDW from 10/28-11/5

Crowds were low until last 2 days. That's when the tiered system was implemented.

The lines for the big attraction rides were somewhat high while we were there, but FP+ helped us tour the park quicker than without.

The lines for attractions such as Universe of Energy, Crush Turtle talk, etc. (basically everyone except the larger attractions at EVERY park) were low (approx. 20mins)

We are definite park hoppers. Go to a park everyday & usually Epcot @ night for dinner.

I personally think this tiered system was implemented as soon as crowds were higher.
I definitely think this is so that you can get on a big attraction & spend time on the attractions that are basically empty (obviously not at Christmas & other busy times) & also to spend more time shopping, & doing other things in the park. It seems they definitely want to find a way to keep you in the parks.

With FP+, it was easy to go to the parks later, hit all of the big attractions AND go to another park, go back & spend time at the resort-you can basically finish (if you choose) to leave DHS in 3+hrs, or AK..same thing!

I personally think they need to work on the MDE app. It was constantly having difficulty with everything from FP to Dining (Dining was the worst!)

I hope they don't get away from Park Hopping. That would make my family very upset.
