When we took a Disney Cruise in 2002, they offered a tall reusable beer mug where my husband could get as many refills of draft beer as he wanted for $20. Do they still offer something like that?

I don't know the exact prices, but I have read here on the boards, that you can buy a mug and refills are the same price as a regular beer, but you get more in the refillable mug.

The refills are not free...I know there are several threads on here about the mugs and the pricing, hoping someone else can pipe in here.

I have read that the mugs are $15 and $5 to refill. Like the PP said, you get more beer for the price of the regular size or something like that.

The mug is listed in the "gifts" section on the site, but I could not pre-order it, I tried. Have to wait and get it on the ship for my husband!

Ok - so something has changed then. In 2002 the mug was $20 and refillable at no extra charge - draft only.

It was a little after 9/11 - so it may have been a perk at the time.

My dad did that on his first DCL sailing, but ultimately decided the nuisance of carrying the mug around outweighed having the slightly larger beers. :lmao:

In 2007 I think I paid $15 for the mug and then you paid for a 12oz draft and received 16oz of beer in your mug:thumbsup2

From a previous thread...

Bud Light
Amberbock
Kirin Itchiban
Guinness
Yeungling
Sam Adams
Michelob Ultra

Beers are $3.75 in the refillable mug that you buy for $12 at the beginning of the cruise or same price for a regular pint if you choose not to buy the mug. But the mug is bigger so it's a better deal - more beer for the same price.

You must have hit a perk on your cruise. We sailed in 2000 and the refills were not free.

If you still have your old mug you can take it with you and reuse it, they haven't changed them.

Mug is $15 and to refill, it is the same cost as a draft but you get 20 oz for the 16 oz price.

Disney asks that you purchase the package again for each cruise. At least that is what they told me in my email question to them.

Of course they are going to tell you that, although there is no package involved since it's just a mug you are buying. DH has used the original mug on 3 or 4 cruises and we have another friend that does the same. Since the mugs are the same they don't have a clue if you bought it on your current cruise or a previous cruise.

I agree...you get a few more ounces per beer, but have to keep up with the mug all the time

no you don't - when you are finished drinking what's in the mug just turn it into the bartender and he will give you a token - the next time you want a beer just take the token(card) up and they'll give you a new mug and you pay for the refill.

simple.

Is this something new they have started? I've never heard of this before.

maybe - this was our first cruise so i dont know.

one thing i'm wondering about is we lost dh's token(card) and couldn't get the mug back before the end of the cruise but found it when unpacking.

anyone know if we can bring it back on our next cruise and get the mug again?

The bartenders are the ones who have told guests that they can bring the mug back so I don't see why you couldn't take the token and explain to the bartender what happened if you wish. If you know of anyone going on a Disney cruise they could turn it in for you before that next cruise for you.

We found this out on our last cruise on the 10th. Sure is easier than hauling that mug everywhere. Wish they had started this years ago!:thumbsup2

This is great news! DH and I bought the mugs the last time, but never used them as we never wanted to lug them around!

Thanks for the tip. I will be using it this Sunday! :thumbsup2

You can just purchase the mugs if you don't drink beer

I liked the mugs and wanted a pair

No problem, and even got bubble wrap and tape at the gift shop to wrap up for carry on bag
