I know there are slight differences in the menu from lunch to dinner. Which do you prefer and why?

Thanks in advance.

The price is slightly lower at lunch versus dinner which if you were paying out of pocket, it might sway you to go for lunch.

If you’re on Dining Plan, you would maximize your 1 TS credit better by going at dinner.

That’s what we do.
Dining plan - dinner.
OOP - lunch.

The slight difference in menu does not sway our decisions. If we are doing DDP, then we do what others have already point out by OOP for lunch and DDP for dinner. The other side of things is how it fits into your park plans. During the Summer, Biergarten and San Angel Inn are also great restaurants to get away from the heat and let the kids rest within a nighttime theme.

We prefer dinner. In our experience and opinion, the meat selection was significantly better.

Also, since the restaurant atmosphere is like a German Biergarten in the evening with the moon in the night sky, we just prefer dinnner there for that reason, also.

I am looking at it for the CP package. The food choices are what I guess I was asking about. Is there a $7 difference that makes it worth paying at dinner?

Lunch ~
- It is maybe a couple items less on the lunch, not enough to make a difference
- It is cheaper to eat lunch (if on DDP, I would book dinner but the earliest one)
- I much prefer a buffet at lunch so we can walk some of it off the rest of the day

Late lunch. Check the times of the entertainment, iirc they don't start until about 1.

we always went for lunch but this trip we have dinner, is there really a night sky at dinner? Like San Angel?

We like to book a late lunch- about 2pm. The restaurant clears out a little and you can enjoy the low crowd and the music. And it counts as dinner! We'll just get a snack later.
And they also have very nice restrooms!

I prefer dinner only because the food is pretty heavy and I tend to go when it's hot, and heavy food in the middle of a hot day doesn't make for energetic touring for the rest of the day... whereas, if it's dinner, I can roll right on back to my resort after and zzzzz....

Of course, not everyone is a glutton, so that's just my personal take.

:rotfl2:Well, we have the same take. We love German food but a German buffet, w/ a vat of beer and rides do not go together, so it’s a late Dinner ADR for us. This and Boma are the only 2 buffets we do regularly. A brisk walk back to the bus, boat, car, monorail does however help with the digestion! The $ difference between dinner and lunch is worth it to us, it offers up foods we never make at home. A relaxed evening meal with good food, plenty of oompappa music and beer!

Lunch because it is significantly cheaper and the buffet is 99% the same.

We haven't been to dinner in a couple of years because we pay OOP and take the cheaper lunch price, but the only difference that we've ever noticed was that they had rouladen and sauerbraten (and maybe some additional meats?) at dinner than at lunch. I have no idea if this is still the case, but I have never seen rouladen at lunch.

We've done both and prefer dinner. They don't have the potato balls (not sure what their actual German name is) at lunch and those are my absolute favorite thing on the buffet.

The one plus to lunch when we went was that it was not busy. Our ADR was for about 145 and the place was empty. We were seated with just one other couple at our table.

We usually do this one OOP and we always do dinner, the food just seems better at dinner time and we always take the last seating possible. We like to eat and take our time and when we leave, the park is almost empty and we enjoy a leisurely walk back to our resort if we are staying at the YC or to the front of the park if we are staying elsewhere! This is usually our last dinner of our vacation or our first depending on plans!
