My whole family is going to Disney in August.:cool1: There's 9 adults/9 kids.
Between all of us, we've been there tooo many times to count. However, NONE of us has ever gone to the Biergarten in Germany.:confused3 We want to try it as a group. Any opinions???(good or bad) Also, I read that they are long tables....would we all fit on one?
Thanks for any info..

Yes, they are long tables and I believe that all 9 of you could fit at one. We love the buffet...there is something for everyone. The live band is terrific and everyone has fun with it. There is also a dance floor where on many occasions we have seen older folks and little kids out having a blast! I think your family would enjoy it.

We went YEARS ago. Yes, you sit at long tables - you would probably all sit together. We sat with other families.

The best way to explain the restaurant is the movie scene from "National Lampoon's European Vacation" when Chevy Chase is dancing on the stage in Germany during Octoberfest! :lmao: The restaurant was fun, loud and crowded. The music, all the drink clinking and chugging was fun. The food AWFUL!

But we don't really care for German food other than German potato salad and German chocolate cake :rotfl: We ate mostly the mini hot dogs in sauerkraut!:lmao: This was a last minute walk in decision. We didn't really give the menu any thought, we should have!:scared1:

I also didn't like how the buffet was set up back then (this might have changed). It wasn't that convenient to get to, then you had to squeeze your way back to your table.

We'd never gone back, but I've learned you have to try every restaurant for yourself.:thumbsup2

We love this place, DH is 100% German so this is his fav..we are eating there Saturday night!

We have been many times and have never had a bad meal, even when it was a menu order place....not the buffet. The only thing that I dont care for is the dessert choices, they were all yuck except for the warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce...I could live off of it.

I guess that is a good sign!!!:goodvibes
Thanks so much for the replies....I guess we'll give it a try. We're always up for something new!:thumbsup2

If I'm reading this right, it sounds like you will have 18 total since you said 9adults/9kids. If this is the case, then no, you wouldn't fit at one table as they are made for 8 people.
We loved the Biergarten when we went in August. The food was delicious and be sure to catch some of the great entertainment!:goodvibes

There are also tables for 6 so they may give you 3 tables. They would likely be together further from the buffet. But it might be more fun to break up into groups of 6 at tables for 8 and have 2 strangers at each table. That is the spirit of Biergarten.

We enjoyed our lunch at the Biergarten. My boys loved the pretzel bread! I know I ate way too many spaetzle! The boys also enjoyed the German band and after dinner we did hit the dance floor for a quick spin. I would recommend it!

This place is terrific!! I admit, I don't like alot of the stuff on the menu (picky eater & not a huge meat eater), but I am perfectly happy stuffing myself with pretzel bread, cucumber salad, spaetzle, and shnitzel!!

Entertainment and atmosphere are so great!! I went with just DF, but with the set up, I'll bet it's a great choice for a large group!

I am so happy to see the great reviews!!!! We have reservations for a party of 9 (8 adults, 1 child) for our upcoming trip in April! Thanks for all the input!!!
:cloud9:

Thanks so much for all the replies.....We went ahead and booked it for all 18 of us!!!:thumbsup2 Seems like we'll have a good time..(I cant believe none of us has been there before:confused3 ).

OP, did you go through group reservations or use the regular ADR number?

I only ask because we had booked a lunch for 13 at Akershus a few years ago, and when we showed up, they couldn't find us in the system even though we had a confirmation number. They said with a group that large, we shouldn't have booked through the regular number.

Needless to say, we had some crying kids in our group since we were turned away and the girls were already wearing their princess dresses. :sad2:

The system might have changed since then, but I just wanted to caution you if it's an important event!

We've got an ADR for 16 at Biergarten and I made it through the regular WDW-DINE number. I hope we're okay!

Our family is very German, too (DMom is 100%, DDad 25%), and we all always enjoy the Biergarten very much! We haven't been in a couple of trips so we're looking forward to this September. It's great for groups, which is why we're meeting up with another family for this dinner. It's the whole experience: food, drink, music, ambience, etc.

Have fun! :wizard:

Actually, my DH called the regular number (wdw-dine) and they transferred him over to group reservations. Hopefully, our reservation is in the system. I also plan to call and confirm a 'few dozen' times to make sure all our adr's are there.. :goodvibes
Does anyone have a preference for lunch or dinner??? Right now we're reserved for lunch, but I was reading in the "unofficial guide" that the best time to go is after 6:00. Our dates are pretty flexible, so we can move them around. Is the show the same at both times?? Any thoughts?? Thanks.

Biergarten is one of our MUST DO's every year. It is great. We love the food & the band! You will have a great time!
