Biergarten pleasant surprise

Can somone explain the seating here to me? DW and I were thinking about trying here, DD12 is in her second year of German classes and we really have enjoyed most German type food we've tried, but we read that it's family style seating which, please don't anyone take offense to this, isn't for us. I don't want to sit next to anyone I don't know. I can't stand this about Japanese places or cruise ships.

Thanks

I am looking forward to eating here next month for the 1st time. I figure I can get my money's worth with the pretzel bread & desserts if I don't like anything on the buffet. :rotfl2:

Unless you have a large group, you will probably be sitting next to someone else. Last year we were next to some very polite people from England. They were nice, but we didn't feel the need to chat the whole time. Even though you will be at the same table, you have to remember that it is a buffet so people will be up and down the whole time. Plus when the band plays, many get up and go dance. So... If you don't like this type of seating, you probably won't want to go to Biergarten. But I feel you will be missing out!!
Good luck with your decision!

We decided to try Biergarten this time round. I had never really considered it as I am of German origin and was kind of worried about what I would find. DH decided we should try it and as it was his only park day, I was happy to go along. I need not have been worried. The food was fantastic and I am sure we will be back next year.

We also enjoyed Biergarten. Unfortunately, the people we were seated next to weren't overly friendly, but not rude, either. The food was delicious, the restroom was quiet and clean (I know it's weird that I'm mentioning that, but it's important!), and the show was fun, if a little predictable. One of my favorite memories was my DH and DS (who was one at the time) dancing together to the "oom-pah" music. Lots of fun.

Biergarten has become a family tradition for us. We always eat our Christmas Day meal here. My son (4-year-old) is a huge fan of the band!
