Which would you choose over the other for a Dinner with DFiL and DMiL?

That would depend on the personalities involved. My inlaws are extremely religious, no drinking, so Biergarten would probably offend them. You are seated 8 to a table there so if you are a party smaller than that, you will be seated with strangers. In May we were a party of 4 and we were seated in between 2 parties of 2.

Personally, we like Biergarten better (both for food and atmosphere) but Chefs is nice enough.

I really really don't like Biergarten. I know some people do but it ranks as one of my least favorite places to eat.

Two completely different dining experiences - one is a beer hall, with entertainment to match, while the other is a more traditional dining atmosphere. They're pretty much on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Having said that, I've enjoyed both, so it just depends on what you're in the mood for on a given night. Also would depend on whom you'd be dining with.

i enjoy both places but i think chefs is better for lunch then dinner. so I would go with Biergarten.

Biergarten has great food and a nice atomosphere. The entertainment is nice and it has a great family vibe to it.

For better food, I'd go with Chefs. For the better atmosphere, I'd also go with Chefs.

If they enjoy a loud atmosphere where they could potentially be seated with other people who like to drink....perhaps a lot, then I'd go with Biergarten. We had a very bad experience with a drunken group the last time we were at Biergarten, so it is off our list of places to return to for the moment. The food choices have also become much less than they once were.

Chefs has always been a good experience for us. The atmosphere is much more relaxed than at Biergarten. Our "foodie" children insist we return there every year. ::MinnieMo

We ate at Biergarten for the first time in June. We loved it! Its DH's new favorite. The kids loved it (they really enjoy trying new foods)...there were a couple of food items we didn't like but thats the benefit of a buffet.

We had a really quiet group sharing the table with us...for all I know we were the loud ones. They left WAY before we did. Guess we're your typical fat Americans...gluttons with intentions of being "rolled" out.

Haven't eaten at Chefs yet but I plan to try it!

(ps..we've eaten at coral reef, le cellier, teppan edo, and rose and crown within the last 5 years....we feel Biergarten provides an equivalent experience to other top rated epcot restaurants.)

Beirgarten......At the least you can use it to walk away from the inlaws for a while "to get food at the buffet". Plus I like the food much better, can try a variety and the restaurant looks great.

I'm actually deciding this as we speak. I have Les Chef de France and Biergarten both booked, but Biergarten is sounding better by the minute.

I don't care for Biegarten so I would pick Chefs. Which I like very much.

I know there are many who love Biegarten, the entertainment is very good were just not a fan of the food.

we did both on our last trip and i was not really sure if i would like biergarten. my dw could not wait to try chefs. we did chefs first and it was nothing that she was hoping for. the food was just average at best. it was crowded in there like they packed as many tables in as they could. i thought the food was just ok and we both said we were not sure if we would go back. going into beirgarten i was open minded since i am not a big fan of buffet. both dw and i loved it. it was a fun place to eat and the crowd was great. we sat next to two other couples and we were all talking and having a great time. i realize it is luck of the draw with who you sit with but i would go back there again.

As others have said, these are two different places and experiences. We have no desire to try Chefs. It comes off as being cramped like someone said. We actually stopped by once and they had openings, but it looked like we would be rubbing elbows with the people around us. That doesn't sound fun. If these were the two restraunts I had to pick from, it's a no-brainer to go to Biergarten. We've been there before, there is plenty of things on the buffet for me, my wife, amd my two daughters (ages 5 and 2). We're very outgoing people and have no problem sitting by people we don't know. This is no different if you're at a restraunt...they're just at a table with you. You can choose not to speak to them if you don't want to. We've been to Biergarten two times and one instance we had a party of 6 and sat by a couple older women. They were great. They interacted with us and talked with my oldest daughter who was 2 and the time (and the youngest wasn't born yet). It is all about the luck of the draw, but the food and entertainment is enough for me to go back regardless of who I would sit by...

You do have a great point... :rotfl2:

I'm right there with ya...the only thing I'm nervous about is sitting at a table with other people. That could get interesting... :confused3

We decided on Biergarten :). I asked my DH to choose, and he thinks Biergarten will be more fun for us AND DD. I had booked Chef de France in hopes of seeing Remy but realized that, even if we did see Remy, it doesn't last long and the menu doesn't really appeal to me.

That makes perfect sense...thanks for sharing! DH's parents actually lived in Gertmany for a little while so I think I'm leaning more toward the Boergarten too. :thumbsup2

Your 3 year old will LOVE Biergarten, my DD(4) ranks it up there with Princess meals as her absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. She loves the band and getting out on the dance floor. I have a couple of friends whose little ones absolutely love Biergarten too. We have been to both with the inlaws and my inlaws would hands down pick Biergarten. Nothing wrong with Chefs and they like it, but they love Biergarten. My Mom would also pick Biergarten, she is German though so I'm sure that is a big part of her choice! DH's favorite WDW meal is Biergarten even though he also likes Chef's. I would pick Biergarten over Chef's too, but I like them both. To us, Chef's has good food, but there isn't really anything special about the restaurant itself (except Remy). The decor is standard restaurant. Biergarten has atmosphere, good food, and a fun show.

I would have to say the Biergarten... my husband is swiss and this restaurant is very similar to the restaurants that he grew up with. They food is great and the environment is fun and inviting. You do sit with other people you don't know, so if you are not crazy about strangers this is not the place for you. If that is the case then I would go with france. Good luck

I don't think there is any question here between the Biergarten or Chefs de France. I would only go the Biergarten on a hot summer day for a lunch. As long as money is not a major factor for this one meal go the Chefs. You will not regret it.
