For arrival day. We should arrive around noon. Plan on staying in Epcot once we get here. Family of four with 17 year old daughter and 14 year old son. Better selection and reasons please. Thanks so much

I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I enjoy the show a lot at Biergarten. It's such a fun atmosphere, and the food is pretty good. I also like sitting at a table with folks I don't know. However, I usually do that mid trip when the close quarters are starting to wear, so it's nice to talk to someone different. But some people find that awkward, and not everyone will engage with you.

I adore the chicken at chefs though.

Which cuisine do you prefer? I would check the menus here on the DIS and at allears.net and see which you prefer. As PP said, Biergarden is communal seating and it also has entertainment. Both are good

I think that the Biergarten is a perfect way to start your trip!!! It has a great atmosphere, a nice selection of food...and beer, of course!!!

We have eaten at both and prefer the Biergarten. The buffet doesn't limit us to one choice in the entree department. The live entertainment is a plus. The food is a little heavier but very good. As mentioned by Mousemommy1.... The beer.. My wife really enjoys the German wine also.

Chef's isn't bad but wasn't in our top 4 places to eat around the World Showcase. Service was a bit slow the two times we have been to Chef's also.

It really depends on what you and your family would like. As Hopefully said.. Check out the menus on DIS or allears to see what you may like..

Nice to see a fellow Hoosier on the boards though. (We are from Indianapolis).

Agree with above. They are both good. Biergarten food is a little heavier. If its for lunch, I may choose France only for that reason. Its a lighter meal, which makes lots of walking after more comfortable. But, then again, I cant find a German restaurant anywhere near where I live, so if its my only chance, I may choose there.

Tough one!!

My wife and at least one of my two daughters would eat at Chefs every visit if possible. It is refined but very approachable. Last time we went, we sat next to a couple of guys who were finishing up their dessert and they just kept going on and on and on about how wonderful both the meal and the service were. We have been four or five times at this point, and we've never left disappointed.

On the flip side, Biergarten has recently become a favorite, too. My wife got sick there as a little girl (through no fault of the restaurant) and had been avoiding it for years. We were going to Epcot with some friends and somehow ended up agreeing to eat there. Our girls (9 and 12 at the time) absolutely loved it and actually asked why we had been hiding Biergarten from them their whole lives. We have since been back, as my wife also realized she enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere.

As an arrival day meal, I would be tempted to hit Biergarten, if only for the more festive nature of it -- to sort of get you in the Disney mood. Buffet has lots of options (not just sausages and kraut), so 17 year old daughter would find something she likes and, if the 14 year old boy is like most, he could do some serious damage at this buffet! Of course, my wife would send you directly to Chefs. Either place is a good choice in our minds.

Haven't had Biergarten because some of the family members aren't enamored of the menu. Have to say my experience with Disney buffets in general has been hit or miss. We really enjoyed Chefs and are going there again for our next trip. The food was well prepared and tasty and the service was good.

Love them both! I would recommend Chefs after traveling. The service I experienced was not slow, it was French. Your entree will not be served until all in your party have finished their appetizer, desert not until all have finished their entree.

Biergarten. Better atmosphere, super unique theme, and puts you in the Disney mood. Also enjoyed the food. Chefs was good but the seating was super cramped and close together and just wasn't as fun.

Two totally different animals. Chefs has better food in our families opinion. I personally love the show/atmosphere at Biergarten but my family could take it or leave it. The food is just ok there, DD & DW struggle to find things to eat. If you want a fun family experience and you love beer then Biergarten... if you want a good meal in a quiet setting the Chefs. Either way enjoy!
