My kids and I are not big meat eaters, but my DH loves German food. We're going to the Biergarten for the first time, just for him!

Can anyone tell me if they have pretzels at the buffet? Also, what kinds of items are at the kid's buffet? I know we'll have no problem finding some desserts that we love!

They don't have pretzels; they have pretzel bread. It is beyond good. There's no specific kid's buffet, but there is usually mac 'n cheese, and always spaetzle, potatoes, baked chicken and desserts. Most kids eat some of the sausages and many report their kids eat quite well here. Some say their kids eat nothing. Try it. I love it and I'm just a picky 58 yo kid.

no pretzels, i wish..lol!! But the pretzel bread is good enough to sneek out..lol!! Anyway..they had lotsa things that tasted just like hot dogs!! LOL! Mac and cheese, fried chicken, desserts were the best though!!! Green salad, and potato salad, those things are about all on the kiddie list. I know personally my kids would not eat there! Me and hubby had to go alone! So, if ya have picky eaters, like i do, its not the best place for them. But, if you like to try new interesting foods, this place was exellent!!! It was my fav, other fav was in China!! But that wasnt a buffet!
Its better to go to Biergarten for the latest lunch they have, ya get lunch price, but get to have dinner items!! :O):thumbsup2

I have to disagree (with a big smile.) I am a Hardcore Foodie and I eat just about anything. Hubby (AKA "John Wayne") eats meat, potatoes and white bread.

I wandered the buffet trying to find the foods I found the least repulsive to eat. I found everything bland and either kraut-y, sausage-y (and way too fatty) or potato-y. The dessert was vanilla pudding.

Hubby LOVED it. LOVED it. Went back for seconds, thirds and more. So my picky eater fared MUCH better there than I did!

The dessert was vanilla pudding.

???? Well, yes, I believe there was vanilla pudding. And chocolate mousse cake. And bavarian cream cake (yum!). And apple strudel. And some kind of a multi-berry fruit compote with vanilla sauce you could ladle on top. Or just another piece of pretzel bread.

We ate there for lunch and ate very well indeed!

Thank you all for the feedback. I was under the impression that there was a kid's buffet, but it sounds like they will be OK with the sausage/hot dogs, mac & cheese and pretzel bread.

We spent two weeks in Austria and Germany and my husband was in hog heaven with all the fried pork products! I survived on french fries, ice cream and amazing pastries. We're both looking forward to a little indulging!

I like the sound of this restaurant, good thing we've got an ADR for the last night of our trip!

What about nuts allergy kids? Any nuts in the sauages. Any german here knew about the recipe of german food, tree nuts in food?

I have nut allergies and the only things that they warn against eating is the apricot compote for topping the carved pork and the breads. The apple strudel is okay since they make it in house with no nuts.

The above site will tell you what is on the menu at Biergarten. My DW is not a very adventureous eater, but very much likes Biergarten. The selection is large and she finds plenty of things that she likes.

i know this may sound silly - but here goes....

the buffet includes a beverage. can this beverage be beer??? :cool1: Or, do you have to pay extra for beer? thanks! Me and the husband would love to have beer and especially if we don't have to pay extra for it!

I've only been there once and I was surprised/taken aback at the lack of desserts. I'm guessing it was just a fluke thing! The apple strdel was there, but when the container was emptied, then did not bring more. We ate lunch about 1:00 and perhaps they were winding down lunch to wind up dinner???

OTOH, hubby's favorite dessert is vanilla pudding! He ate 5 servings!

BTW, I made the mistake of taking him to Boma. Yes, I know, it was a dumb thing to do. He ate MAYBE 400 calories worth. MAYBE. So Biergarten was very redeeming!

Beer is not one of the included beverages...Sorry. You have to pay extra for it. But it is yummy and you can get big steins full of it there. Yummm.
