Ok I am going to try to get the 46" tv at Target on BF. I need help from the experts on how to do this. Will it fit in my cart? My girlfriend and I are each going to try to get one so we will each have a cart but I worry about how to actually phyically get it to the checkstands. I have other things to get so I plan to get the tv first (fingers crossed) and then head around the store to get the other stuff. Any thoughts on how to do this easily and safely?

I believe last year they had claim tickets for the TVs. You got a claim ticket and checked out with that. Then went over to the associate by the TVs after purchasing to pick it up. I would call the Target store you hope to shop at and ask how it will work.

At the Target I was at last year, they had all the hot tv's already in carts towards the back of the store. Before the store opened, the managers came out to speak with the crowd about where the tv's were and how the process would go. Basically, if you wanted a tv, go straight down the first aisle--if you didn't, turn right after the $1 spot. We were close enough in the front of the line to get a TV. Why I didn't, I have no idea. They did not hand out claim tickets. I have seen that at Walmart and Best Buy, but haven't seen that at Target.

There was not a mad rush and no one got trampled. The police were there and the managers stated that if there was any running, people would be escorted out by the police.

Thank you for your response. I called and they did not know, but said the 46" tv's do not fit in the carts! They are trying to come up with a plan it sounds like. Told me to call back in 2 hours. The guy who makes these decisions will be in then.

I really appreciate your help.

Go today and buy them then go on Friday or Saturday and get the price adjustment. I have done this the last couple years and have never had a problem. Also while I was at the service desk paying for a hold the other day I person in front of me asked if she bought things today could she get the adjustment and was told as long as she came in for the adjustment on Fri or Sat.
This works at Target becuase all of the items are 2 days sales or until it runs out. They do not have times for certain items

These tvs are brought in special for bf and not available before, but thank you for the suggestion.

The stores in my area will NOT do this. If you want the deals you have to wait in line like everyone else!

I bought a 42' flat screen last year and I had to lay it across the top of the cart. When I got to the parking lot there were at least 2 other people with the same TV trying to figure out how to get it in their cars :goodvibes I was glad I had a SUV! So, make sure you go in something the box will fit in to! (One person had to take it out of the box to fit it, and the other was calling a friend with a SUV)

Target called me back. They have decided to go with a ticketing system even though corporate did not send the tickets this year. They said it is "too dangerous" to try to move the cart with the tv on top and do other shopping.

I am so glad I called. I was hoping to get a ticket and just pay for the tv and not have to lug it around. Hurray!

Thanks again for all the help!

Thanks for contacting the store and writing their response. I am going for the tradition, but if I can get one this year, I'm going to do it. Hope the store I go to hands out tickets also.

I tried this today bc I had read on here of people doing this successfully, but at both my Targets I was told they aren't bringing those out until BF..

I tried too!!! LOL!! I guess those associates are sick of people asking!

Yes, the tv's are for BF sale, but if you have the SKU # you can go to customer service, ask for the Qty in stock, and they may let you purchase it then, and then come back for the price adjustment. I've done this many times.

If they don't let you purchase it, at least you'll know how many they have.

We got the 42" last year. There were no lines, no tickets, anything like that, they were just in stacks on the floor in the women's clothing section.

My advice is send 1 person to get the TV, the other person grab a cart and head to the section and then load it up. Believe me, sometimes the items are gone in minutes.

...go to www.target.com/blackfriday and select your local store.

Do keep in mind that for special events such as BF, large retailers do not place these items in their usual departments (i.e., electronics). They will be on a pallet somewhere along the main "racetrack" floor.

By looking at your store's map, you'll know exactly where your TV is...

If you take any item out of the box it will fit more easily in your car. Keep the box by folding it up. Take out any papers/instructions before they blow away. You could even take a blanket or other padding if you are afraid the tv won't fit and may bump around. Also take rope or bungee cords if you have something that you think you may need to keep the trunk open for.

I didn't do it (but now after reading this wishing I had maybe), but my target had all the bf stuff set out (including tvs) tonight when I went in for something else. There were SIX of the 40 or 42" and 5 of the 46"...

I didn't see the Ipods on that Target map, but great link!! I went today to our local Target. He said he had 115 for Black Friday, so we plan to around 11pm. We live out in the country, hopefully that's early enough! :rotfl:
