Here are some Photo's taken from the top of the DUMBO ride.

You can see the start of the construction in Fantasyland.

The abandoned ice cream stand looks like it's part of the construction.

thanks for the pics!

Please forgive my ignorance but what used to be back there and what is it going to be?

Thank you!

I see the pictures and the construction going on in relation to Fantastyland, but can't quite picture it in my head-I mean, how much has really been walled off-it seems like quite a lot.

Thanks for posting the updated photos :thanks: Are those big tents the backside of ToonTown?? :tinker:

There is a thread here called "The official fantastyland expansion: Mickey get's evicted" (or something like that) it explains everything that is happening.
- Ariel's Grotto is gone
- Pooh's playful spot is gone
- New character themed areas will be sprouting up soon with restaurant's etc, and Dumbo will be doubled - in a tent, with no queue. :)

Thank you!

The wall stretched from Toon Town all the way beyond Pinocchio's Haus.
The Pooh ride is also walled off, and there's a scaffold tower around a 100 acre wood oak tree.

Wow!:scared1:You read and read about this stuff, but the massiveness of it is amazing (and a little sad)-but I bet it will be beautiful when it is completed.

Does anyone have a map of the construction line? I dont recall Poohs playground being quite so deep.

I ain't Robo :) , but here is a Photo of the MK map from 2009.

#27 was Ariel's Groto
#28 was Pooh's Playful spot
The red line is roughly where the wall is.

Ah that makes more sense. Looking at your map I think there was a larger "tree buffer" between the playful spot and the railroad that they have torn down.

Thanks!

They are the old meet and greats as for as I can tell. I google earthed the construction to get a better grip on it and the tents are outside the construction fence with people going in.

I didn't realize Fantasyland had so much unused space inside the railroad line! That is a HUGE chunk of land they are playing with!

They are still meet and greets, Toontown was still open.

It is the Judges Tent (behind Mickey's house), and the Toontown Fair (Princesses and Pixie Hollow)

I'm laughing as I picture you going round and round trying to capture these shots with only one thought in your head.....I . MUST . GET . THESE . FOR . THE . DIS . BOARD! :goodvibes

Thanks! Very cool to see progress!

Side note: Often forgotten, that was the site of the 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea attraction. So it's not like that's always been trees.

Funny enough, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Yes. Those are the Toontown tents. Here's 2 pics of what was originally in the area now under construction (pictures from http://www.20kride.com). It was 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. You got in the Nautilus Submarine and explored underwater. The big white roofed building in front of the Toontown tents was where you saw the lost city of Atlantis, had a giant squid attack, and saw a sea serpent. You can see the Dumbo ride and the Carousel in the 1st picture. 20,000 Leagues was a great ride that was original to WDW and closed in 1994. The building was torn down, the lagoon was drained, and it mostly sat empty except for a small area that became Ariel's Grotto, and the green roofed area, which was torn down and became Pooh's Playful spot.

The Skyway ride seen in the 2nd picture closed in 1999. That's the Small World building in the back of the photo. This picture shows how huge 20,000 Leagues lagoon was! The Skyway station in Tomorrowland was torn down last summer (was between Carousel of Progress and Space Mountain), the Skyway station in Fantasyland still exists on the far side of Small World (looks a little like a Swiss chalet) and is now used for a Stroller Parking area.

Dumbo will be doubled - in a tent, with no queue.

Close, but not exactly that.

Yes, Dumbo would be "doubled" (at least) with the addition of a second
ride.

And, there would be a "nextGen" virtual queue (no "waiting line" per se.)
But, the RIDE(S) would not be in a tent.

Only the waiting area ("non-queue") would be inside a tent.
The twin Dumbo rides would be in the open air.

(But, all plans are subject to change... likely several times... over the next couple of years.)
