I heard it on the radio (BBC Radio 1) yesterday.

Now, I am not a fan of fur (and Beyonce has really slipped out of my admiration radar since she started practically living in the fur of minks, rabbits, etc.), but unfortunately the fur trade is legal... but this:

Its the same thing as Jennifer Lopez and her Sweet Face line.(which I would never buy) Her clothes are lined with animal fur. My friend was watching something on mtv about the lifestyles of rappers, and she said alot of them had king size mink bedspreads. I can't even imagine how many of those little mink animals you would have to kill to make a king size bedspread. I personally don't think its necessary, but I guess thats what happens when people all of a sudden are making too much money, they don't know what to do with it.

That's not all...Jennifer Lopez often sports fake eyelashes made from fox fur. What a disgrace - killing an animal so a celebrity can wear their fur as eyelashes has to be the ultimate low.

My mom owns furs and I cannot get her to part with them. At least they were "used" when she got them. But it still heebs me out.

I love animals, and I will fish and I will hunt and I have no problems with someone who does. But I would never hunt an animal for its hide and not use anything else off of it.

Most fur trade from other countries isn't actually what you think it is. Its dyed fur from other animals. like cat. There are farms where they rase (and abuse) animals and when they kill them or they die they use their fur and call it something else.

I saw a documentary on that about two years ago.

Anyone who would wear fur that they didn't kill disgusts me. One of my friends has a rabbit skin purse with a deer lining. She killed the two rabbits and her father killed the deer, she tanned the hide. They eat teh meat and use whatever they can off the animal.

That is what a hunter does. they don't find something pretty, kill it, and waste the carcass. It can take 50-100 minks to make something. no one can eat 50-100 minks. their carcass is wasted. That is wrong.

Fur is beautiful. when its breathing.

I agree with Sparx. I don't agree with killing an animal solely for its fur or hide.

OTOH, I'm no fan of PETA. I read the following in the "Scoop" gossip column on msnbc.com earlier today.

A costly proposition
That lunch where Beyonce Knowles was ambushed by anti-fur activists may have been her worst meal ever, but sounds like it would have also been a bit of a headache for any genuine fan who had forked over the cash to meet the singer.

In a highly publicized ploy, PETA won a dinner with Knowles by bidding for it on eBay and then at the meal, asked her to stop using fur in her clothing line — and video taped it all.

“We won the eBay auction last June 2005 using my real name,” PETA’s Hannah Schein told the Scoop. “There was never any deception during the whole year when corresponding with Beyonce’s contact, Byl.”

The opportunity to meet Knowles cost a whopping $9,000 — and was paid for by a PETA donor, according to a spokesman for the group. But actually landing Knowles for the event wasn’t easy.

“Byl would tell me they were looking at dates in October, then it would turn into November, and so on,” according to Schein. She says a date was scheduled only after she threatened to demand a refund. “Byl said they preferred to make it a dinner, not a lunch, so it was scheduled for 6 p.m. On the day of the dinner, just as we finished lunch, Byl called us to change the time to 3:30, saying that Beyonce would be ‘too exhausted to give us her full attention’ later,” according to Schein. She and a colleague were at the restaurant on time, but Knowles and her entourage arrived at 4:15, she says.

“Beyonce ordered for the whole table,” according to Schein, who says that eight or nine people were at the table. “When she finished ordering, her mother told her that maybe her guests wanted something different.” Then the discussion of fur really soured the mood of the meal.

Okay, the person from PETA bid on and won the auction for the dinner with Beyonce with the intention of ambushing her about the fur when she's expecting a dinner with a fan, and there's no deception????

Bull. Of course, that's typical of PETA's "in your face, we don't care who we upset" style.

I'm not PETA's number one fan either.

I agree with Sparx. Also, I believe that the animals that the fur industry use are killed in a very cruel way in order to preserve the fur.

I'm really surprised that Beyonce and Jennifer would use Mink in their clothing line; in this day and age when it's not so cool to do anymore.

I went to that website and saw the footage of the lunch with Beyonce. She didn't say much; she had her mother do all the talking.
