We are here now and we ate at the trails end two nights in a row a couple of days ago, both myself and my 1.5 year old daughter came away with terrible diahrreah and vomitting. It was so intense I had to call 911 because I NEVER vomit but there was nothing left in me at all and I was losing my hearing from dehydration. I likely have thrown up 11 times in the last 2 days which is more than I have cumulatively in my entire life. We both couldn't keep anything down at all. The paramedic said it was likely food poisoning and I attribute it to the trails end which was where we are two nights ago and the night before that

Please report this to resort management. They need to know about this so they can correct the situation and prevent others from the same fate.

Not saying is "wasn't" Trails End...
But I know several people in my local area with the same symptoms. There is a nasty virus going around up north.

There is a really bad strain of norovirus in several states.
But please report so they can figure out if it could be food poisoning.

My DH and I got giardia (sp?) once. My doctor said simple virus, his said food poisoning.... tests were run and it was giardia. So if two doctors can be wrong, I am sure an EMT can be.

Wow. We were there on the weekend. I thought you were going to talk about the bad service. We had lunch there and thankfully that was the worst I had to complain about. Sorry you suffered a worse fate.

As PP's said there is a lot of nasty stuff going around with similar symptoms.

It still is worth mentioning to management.

Sorry about your illness. No one on the boards wants to believe Disney food can cause illness but I think it happens. We don't go back to Trails End anymore because it has always had bad service but lately the food isn't good either.

It absolutely could be food poisoning, or something else such as a norovirus. The EMT really shouldn't have said anything though. That was a big assumption on their part.

1) Sure, it "could" be Trails End.
2) BUT, no other reported incidents of which I am aware.
3) However, several others have reported the "nasties". *
4) My PERSONAL feeling is that it is not food, but the local virus going around.

* SIL and BIL came to town this Monday for the Air Show. Since Tuesday,
he had been in the hotel bed with uglies coming out of both ends. He did
no eat at Disney.

EMT's are not qualified to make any diagnosis of TRUE food poisoning. Only certain tests can do that.

Food poisoning is a Public Health issue and I am sure if the Hospital where you went thought it was actual food poisoning, the Health Dept would now be involved.

And as Scupper suggests, at a place like Trails End if it were actual food poisoning most likely MANY others would by now have gotten sick.

And to add that I am sorry you got sick on vacation--that's never good.

I'm very sorry to hear that. :(

I was at Trail's End on Sunday night, and I did not have any GI symptoms.

I do hope you and your daughter feel better soon.

Seems like an odd place to eat two nights in a row

We like the trails end and its cheap we have eaten there many times and I really liked it. My daughter and I ate the pizza I think it was that as my other daughter and wife didn't eat it and were fine. That said the EMT didn't take me to the hospital as he said my vitals were normal and so didn't suggest that I go at that time. He thought it wasn't viral because I had no fever. I am feeling a bit better today thankfully, have kept down a few crackers, ginger ale and ice cubes. Haven't puked since yesterday afternoon so things are looking up

You don't always have a fever with viral stomach bugs.

It's likely to be something you picked up from around the parks- Disney is a very germy place. I'm lucky I got away with only a cold not a stomach bug like I was fearing!

Really? Why does someone always have to put in a passive-agressive, somewhat hidden attack on a poster? If you don't have something useful to contribute, why bother?

I don't know if it's food poisoning or a virus, but I do know it absolutley sucks to be sick on vacation. Vacations don't come around every day and when it ruins your vacation, it's just a sad thing.

Hopefully, you can still go out and have some fun.

As noted, an EMT cannot diagnose food poisoning. A hospital would need to do tests. Some stomach viruses have the described symptoms.

Did your daughter go to the hospital? If it was the food, there will be other cases.

To note that food can sometimes cause similar symptoms without it being food poisoning at all.

To wit:

At Cracker Barrel they have something I think is called Sawmill Gravy. Tasty, but the two times I tried it I got VERY sick afterwards--my brother however eats gallons of the stuff w/o a problem whatsoever. As do many other patrons.

I think it must be some ingredient they use that for some reason doesn't sit well in MY stomach:)

And that could be the case with a few other food issues--some ingredient, or a food you aren't used to eating.

I alwayssssssss get sick at Disney with all the germs & what not. Some people are fine others are not. Last trip my hubby got really sick on our last day & we ate the same things. Normally it is me but last trip it was him. He has a stomach of steel so not sure what he caught.

Unless you actually had the tests done, then there is no way to know if it was food poisoning. The EMT can not diagnose it. Period. Telling Disney it happened won't mean a dang thing without those tests.
