Hi, we leave for Florida in under 12 hours. Some of you know the trouble I have had with my travel agent lying to me and screwing up reservations. WELL! I just called the hotel we will be staying in for our first night in Daytona Beach and my TA totally messed up my reservation BIG TIME! This is like the 6th error and it's a big one! Among many things they didn't request a crib for my baby! WHERE IS HE GOING TO SLEEP! It's a long boring story! I have tried not to mention this TA's name figuring my posts are just 'venting' but I now think that this TA is dangerous! So BEWARE OF Marlin Travel in Wal-Mart on Argentia Road in Mississauga just south of the 401. I will NEVER use them again. They are trying to correct some of their mistakes ~ but THEY WON'T. Now I am stuck shipping down ds's portable crib on the plane! I HATE THIS! I will calm down and try not to let this mess up too much of my vacation, but now I am wondering WHAT ELSE am I going to find out about this TA and their errors DURING my trip! OOOOOHOHHHHHH AUUUUUUGGHGHHHH! VENTING AGAIN! Thanks! I'll go do some yoga now! BYE

SandraC: can you not just ask them for a crib when you get there. We have done that and it takes no time to wheel one down. Just hate to see you lug something around that you only need for one night.
We just had a similar screw up happen to us also. The Delta meadowvale in Mississauga canceled our rooms for tommorrow that we booked last September. 14 families with nowhere to stay, but then the hotel called back and found rooms after the coach mentioned a lawyer. Nice scare for a few hours though. Hope everything works out and have a great time

Hi Sandra: So sorry to hear about this latest problem! What did the hotel say? I would have thought that you could still arrange for the crib directly through them, regardless whether the travel agent requested one or not. I hope it all works out, I'll be thinking of you. I know you'll have a wonderful time, regardless. :)

SandraC- First of all - go get some sleep. That should be your first priority tonight. Secondly, if you have to take the portable crib, it's OK. It's not as though you have to hold it on your lap all the way down on the plane (your baby will take care of that spot). Sometimes things don't quite work out, but it's been my experience that those in the hospitality industry really do try and go out of their way for you (you just might have to ask a couple of times ;) )

Enjoy yourself and don't let the bumps get you down!

We had all kinds of last minute problems with our trip last year too - it is very frustrating, and just makes you want to get on that holiday sooner. Hotels always have lots of cribs, you should be able to get one there.
On a trip to Europe 2 years ago (me and 3 kids - hubby had to stay home) I had massive problems with the airlines (stuck at the airport for half a day, then having to rebook everything MYSELF, and finding a hotel overnight). Travel agents did nothing to help or compensate. I have no respect for many of them - and these trips cost alot of money and are suppose to be fun and restful. Just take a deep breath, and once your on that plane relax and enjoy! And don't forget to laugh about it all!

Hey, hockeymom,

14 families at the Delta this past weekend sounds like an OWHA team to me. Were you there for the provincials? How'd they do? My DD was playing in Novice A and was mired in a 3-way tie for first in their pool but was ranked third (on the third tie-breaker) and unforunately didn't advance. :(
