Between the BLs (Biggest Loser) Summer Challenge 2010 Part 2

Here's Monday's QOTD, just in case I don't have time to get on in the morning.:goodvibes

QOTD--Congratulations! You have just won an Adventures By Disney trip of your choice! Where would you go, who would you take and what would you do? Feel free to make up your own one of a kind trip (we're fantasizing here, right?;)) or you can take one that Disney already offers!

QOTD--Congratulations! You have just won an Adventures By Disney trip of your choice! Where would you go, who would you take and what would you do? Feel free to make up your own one of a kind trip (we're fantasizing here, right?;)) or you can take one that Disney already offers!

QOTD: I would totally and absolutely take the London/Paris trip with the add of of going to Disneyland Paris! It would be just DH and me! Kids could have a nice vacation with their grandparents or aunts/uncles! DH has family in England so we are planning on going over at some point to visit them with the kids.

My 2nd choice would be Australia!

DH and I are watching HP and the Order of the Phoenix. Girls are in bed. We'll be heading to bed soon. I've baked DHs cake and the girls want to help me decorate and frost it tomorrow. Going to be a rainy day so we will probably just watch movies and play games after going to lunch. The rest of the week is up in the air except for working on Tuesday and Thursday and DD2s dentist appt. Hoping to close on our refinancing on Wednesday. We'll know tomorrow. Camping next weekend. Our fall weekends are filling up like crazy and we just added another party to attend one weekend that we already have 2 soccer games and a double 40th party! It's DH's father's family that we don't see very often and he said it's all he has left besides his sister so we should make an appearance. I have to say I should be busy enough to lose weight just have to get those workouts in.

Can't wait to try Bob's new Inside Out workout. We'll probably watch it through tomorrow and then do it on Tuesday. Going to get DD1 doing WATP with me and maybe take her to the track with me to get her in shape for soccer season. I have too many exercise options at this point. Got to figure out how to try and fit them all in.

Connie-Thank you for the article! Really helpful. My 8 picks would be:
- definitely chest, bust, waist, and belly
- 1 of each: thigh, calf, upper arm, forearm (still can't figure out how I'm going to measure my right upper arm with my left hand-I'm barely righthanded :rotfl2:)
Of course, I can see the value in measuring hips as well. Very hard to decide. :confused

Thanks, CC. I have added your selections to my notes.

I am not really following a training plan. Most of the ones I've seen show 4 or more running days a week, and I'm a little nervous to add a day. I need to find one I can live with. I want to run a half in November, so I was just adding a mile to my long run each Saturday. I was really wasted after that one yesterday. I think I might try 9 with a run/walk ratio next weekend to see if I feel better. I was concentrating on going slower the first half than I really wanted to, which actually made me more tired. :confused3 I also wonder if I was subconciously "sucking in my gut", which lead to the cramping and pain in my abs?

Taryn, I want to send you the half-marathon training plan that I have - from what you've described, I think it might be just what you're looking for. It's a run/walk plan, 3 days per week. It'll take you from 6-7 miles up to 13-14 in 10 weeks. If your half is in November, it oughta fit just right. (I'm currently planning to run a half on Nov 20, so I'll be starting this training plan during the week of Sept 12.) If you're interested, PM me your email address.

So sorry about the sunburn! Sounds like you had fun yesterday, though!Great job on your run. I think I am going to try run walk next weekend to see how that goes. As for the belly measurement, don't stress it. I'll continue to do it whether or not it's part of the challenge. When I typed my list, I was just mentally going down what I measure. Actually, I measure 2 inches above my bb, my waist, and 2 inches below my belly button in addition to my hips. I need to see those numbers go down! :lmao:

Yep, I'm just gonna take every ones picks and just see which ones come up most frequently.

Connie--Congrats on 7 miles and hope the sunburn doesn't hold you back from 8!:goodvibes

Well... If I hadn't slept in, it would have been fine. I didn't get started until about 8:30, so it just got too hot. At about 5 miles I started questioning my sanity. At 6.5 I decided I'd finish 7 and bag it. I did finish the 7 but it took 5 minutes longer than last wednesday. The sunburn definitely didn't help, but my poor planning was the actual enemy today.

QOTD--What can you do today to treat your body with respect? And part 2--if you are up for it--Do you recognize in yourself any of the signs of negative or positive body image?

I can hurry up and finish this post so I can get myself in bed!!

Hope your feeling better today. I did the same thing when we went to a water park in july, I lathered up everyone else, didnt worry about myself and was toasted by the end of the day. At least you had a fun time! Great job on getting the run in too:thumbsup2

As my DD would say... "Silly Momma." I was whining about my shoulders hurting so she started doing the same, although her pink shoulders can't possibly hurt like mine do. Especially since she kept asking if we could go swimming again. Ha! My shoulders were not about to see the light of day!! (And, I chose a short sleeve shirt for my run today instead of sleeveless.)

Hi Connie! I'll measure whatever, I do have a suggestion for the name -- which you can feel free to discard! It's the "Whittle Inches Now!" or "WIN!" challenge -- you can call the participants Winners, and remind the Winners it's time to send in their measurements.

WIN! is so creative! People with creative minds just blow my mind. Thanks, Maria!!

Thanks for all your hard work on our new component, Connie! :goodvibes I'm voting for neck, bust, waist, hips, both thighs, both upper arms.

WIN has my vote for the name of the new part of the challenge! (I knew our writer could come up with something clever! :goodvibes)

Your suggestions have been added to the tally. And, yes, you were absolutely right about Maria having a way with words!

Thanks for everything ladies! I hope everyone has a really great week!

Good. Night.

. Surprisingly we weren't the only people out there with no common sense. We saw this other couple for the entire run! Glad you got some rest yesterday.:goodvibes Look at Galloway plans, as long as you aren't running for time, but completion, he thinks three days a week of running is enough. I won't run more than 3 days a week, too afraid of injuries.Despite the fact that I am at the high end of maintaining and stressing a little, I am going to take my scheduled day off today.

I love the comment about no common sense! I will look at Galloway. Nice to hear I'm not the only one that refuses to run more than 3 days a week! As for being on the high end of maintaining, I've decided that +/- 5 is pretty normal for me within a 2 week time frame, especially since my body is deciding to swell after long runs. :confused3 Anyway, I wouldn't worry about those couple of pounds too much. You are doing great, coach!:thumbsup2

Today we will head to my nana's for some family time. Otherwise no other plans. I need to get a long run in today. I feel like I slacked alot this week on running....just had so much going on in the evenings this week. They are calling for thunderstorms throughout the day so I have to make sure I pick a good time to go.

Lindsay - we are so alike in so many ways! ;) You will hit the normal range in no time, I promise! You are doing great!!!!!!

I think ordering a size 16 for a bridesmaid dress really took a toll. And now, I'm even bigger than I was then. I'm out of breath walking up stairs sometimes. I really need to get in shape. But, until I feel better this morning, I don't plan to exercise. I don't want to get sicker than I already am.

Not sure that I really answered the QOTD the way it was intended, but putting all of this out there really helped. I definitely see lots of signs of having negative body image in me. I know I need to work on that.

First off, bridesmaids/wedding dresses notoriously run very small. I had to order 2 sizes up from what I regularly wear when my nephew got married, and almost every time before! As for getting out of breath, you are doing great with your exercise, and it will get better, I promise. Keep being consistent, and with TOM, if I work out a bit, even if it's just a walk, I feel better. Go easy, but give it a try. to you!

I'll measure whatever, I do have a suggestion for the name -- which you can feel free to discard! It's the "Whittle Inches Now!" or "WIN!" challenge -- you can call the participants Winners, and remind the Winners it's time to send in their measurements.
Back later to answer some QOTDs and check in, my shoulder is killing me so I just took an Aleve.
GREAT IDEA MARIA!!! What's up with your shoulder? Hope it's better soon!

The stars, moons and planet have all perfectly aligned this week-end and everyone in the family is on a cleaning, tossing, organizing kick. Even DS is into it helping me sort clothes to donate and organizing his books by subject, author and title. :cool1: So I've been taking advantage of it by doing a lot this week-end. It will be nice to enjoy our little nest this winter. Taryn, you will make it and I'm sorry that this is such a stressful time for you.

It's a full moon here Lisa! ;) I need to keep cleaning, tossing, and organizing, trying to get stuff together for the yard sale. And I have decided that if I can keep my head above water, what doesn't kill me will make me stronger!

I have learned patience. Today I tried on a size 4 skirt, and last weekend I tried one on as well. They both fit, but I didn't buy them, just cause I didn't like them!:goodvibes

Thank you for sharing that Rose! I told Brad a few months ago that I ate really well that day, had a good run. I fully expected to just wake up in the morning and be skinny! Patience is not my strong suit, usually!

TOM here too and 2 days early Of course that resulted in a small gain for this week
What's up with TOM getting to us all early? He must be desperate. Hang in there!

Quick update on me. Feeling great overall. Finished off the old job on Friday, gave the girls to my parents yesterday and looked at some new houses. There's a couple that we like, so we'll go back and look again tomorrow. Got lots on the go this week, so I'll be absent from the thread again. In a couple weeks, I should be able to be involved again
We miss you, but understand! I hope that all goes well! Lots a luck and hugs!

Hope. There was just a brief glimmer of my goal weight for this challenge on the scale this challenge. I weighed again later and it was up a bit more. If I can make it through this week without cheating, I'll be golden.
We can do this! You know what you want, go after it!

I made it to the gym! I did a mile on the treadmill in 15:52. I'll be back there again tomorrow. I want to start usiing the elliptical. I plan to try it out tomorrow. Maybe some recumbent bike too.

Glad you took my advice, even though I hadn't given it yet! :rotfl:

I will get started on Tuesday with my new workout plan and life change! Tomorrow is DH's b'day so we will be eating out and having cake. I actually need to bake the cake after I type this.

Tell the king of rider swap Happy Birthday for me! Hope tomorrow is better for you!

I made two large meatloaves, about 18 meatballs, and three batches of ground beef with TVP all ready for the freezer... that is AT LEAST 6 meals with leftovers ready for this fall. I'll use the cooked ground beef with TVP for things like Manwich, shepherd's pie and tacos. The meatloaves will be large enough to have a full family meal with leftovers for lunch and/or dinner the next day. And the meatballs will be enough for two nights of meatball subs for three (I don't usually eat them) or 4 nights of spaghetti and meatballs or swedish meatballs! I hate cooking, but at least I only had to clean up once!!

The meatloaf/meatballs are about as healthy as regular ground beef meatloaf/meatballs could be (can't use ground turkey because of DS's allergies). I added lots of finely chopped carrot and red cabbage this time, as well as a full jar of salsa (the kind that has corn and beans in it), a batch of TVP, wheat bran, oats, whole wheat breadcrumbs, and some potato flakes.

The ground beef was cooked, drained, and rinsed, and then I added a double batch of TVP, so it is about 40% TVP to 60% beef.

Next up I'll try to do a pork day and make a batch of shredded pork for pulled pork sandwiches and some sliced pork for fajitas.

I love this P!! Your meatloaf/meatballs actually sound good, and I hate them! I did just finish going through the freezer, threw out a bunch of stuff that had been in there forever, old ice cream from birthday parties, frozen pureed baby food I had made for DD, other food I had "made" for DD and frozen. Nice. Now I know what I have, thanks for the suggestion!

Now Mike is going to run to the grocery store with my list, because I have not been feeling great this weekend. I had a couple sips of soda this afternoon, because I was so tired. We have both been tired all week, and my stomach didn't feel great Friday, then yesterday we both had queasy stomachs, so I'm thinking we're fighting off a bug. Hoping to feel better tomorrow!

Hope you feel better soon hon! Take care of yourself!

Taryn, I know how you feel. Unfortunately, alot of last week was like that for me. Hopefully this week will be better.Short note - just drove down to Charlottesville VA (9 hours) and I'm tired. Stopped at Panera for dinner and found out that VA restaurants aren't requuired to post caloried information. :scared1: I should have looked up their sandwiches before I left but frankly, never thought about the differences in the states requirements.
WELCOME TO THE COMMONWEALTH!!! I hate you had to stay in "Whoo ville" though. (We're Hokie fans, UVA are the Wahoos, our mortal enemy.) Yep, nothing is posted. It's tough! Next time you have to come to VA, tell them you want to go to Blacksburg!

If you're interested, PM me your email address.I did finish the 7 but it took 5 minutes longer than last wednesday. The sunburn definitely didn't help, but my poor planning was the actual enemy today.

Thanks Connie! I'll try to pm you tomorrow. I've got to get in the bed tonight! Good job finishing the 7, sunburn, heat, and all!

Okay, so p, and my poor husband's lack of food inspired me! I ended up cleaning out the freezer, cooking stir fry, cube steak, getting stuff together for homemade pizzas, and putting a london broil in some marinade. He should be good on meals for the week now!

Got dinner for DD and me packed, we'll stop by the house long enough to make AK a homemade pizza to eat in the car. Her lunch, my lunch are packed. Floor mopped. Laundry done and put away. WAYYY past bedtime, but mind was still reeling. Decided to pop on to reply. Very sleepy now.

Nighty night.
Taryn

Morning,

I debated sharing these with all of you, but I think it's time to let some cats out of the bag. It might, might help explain some of my wild emotions lately.

Okay, 1-Friday was my last day of work. It was a temporary position, but I had it for almost a year. I'm already bored out of my mind trying to think of something to do today.

2-Today is my birthday.

I'll be on a lot today. Will be back later with replies. Have to go eat breakfast with my mom.

CC

party::bday::bday::bday:CC

Sorry to hear that your job ended. Hopefully you can find a new one soon. Are your going to go back to temp work? I know a lot of times that can lead to full time but who knows anymore.

Just a short note because I have some things to do.

Happy bithday to tigger813's dh

went out to dinner with some friends last night. Did eat too many chips. Had a veggie quesadea. The should have called it broccoli. There must have been a half of head in it and it was only a one tortilla folded in half. Dh got seafood sof shell tacos and he had enough food for 2 people. He said next time we go there we should split it.

Today we are going with ds2 and some of his friends to a water park. I am a little afraid that it is going to be too cool (strange to say after how hot this summer has been) but it will probably be quieter. They are also talking about some sprinkles but I will take that over 95 and big crowds. I don't know what we willl be having for lunch there but I will be getting my walking in.

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Birthday CC!!!:cool1: Hope you have a wonderful day!

Tracey--love your Disney Adventure plans. Have fun with the kids tomorrow.:goodvibes

Connie--sorry you didn't get the run in, but isn't sleeping in a bit wonderful! We soon won't be able to get up at 5:30 on Saturdays because it's way too dark to run in the park! Hope the sunburn is feeling better.:goodvibes My DS still says "silly Mommy". That made me smile.:goodvibes

Have a good day Taryn! You definitely sound organized and ready to go!

Dona--Have fun at the waterpark!

CC--hope you find something soon! I got my current job by volunteering. I started volunteering last September and by October was working there. If nothing else volunteering somewhere might keep you from going crazy until you find something. Sending good thoughts your way.:goodvibes

Ugh, my tummy still doesn't feel right. I don't know what's up with that. I can handle migraines, pms, pain from workouts, but I hate a queasy stomach! I have work today, and then I'm going to hit the Y for strength and a little eliptical. I am not using weights with the leg exercises until after the race on the 4th. I am happy to say I am still in the maintain zone. I am hoping after I have done this for a couple of weeks, I will not feel compelled to check the scale everyday, but who am I kidding, I probably still will.:thumbsup2

Have a great day everyone!

Rose I hope the stomach settles down.

One last thing. Please continue the PD for my ds1. He has not heard from the new possible job and it should be this week. I am praying that he does get it.

Thanks. I know the good thoughts you sent last time got him the interview.

Happy Birthday, CC!!!! It's a great day for a birthday despite the rain here in MA!

I'll pass the wishes to DH ladies! He got up and showered as he has to take his car for its inspection this morning. I got up and made him a chocolate chip coffee cake. I forgot he'll probably get a free breakfast while waiting for his car. Maybe we'll decorate his cake while he's gone.

It's rainy and yucky here. 61 degrees! Can't remember seeing that number! Been such a hot summer here!

Probably go to lunch around noon at the British Beer Co. Not sure what I'll order today.

Good morning Biggest Losers!

I've missed being here a lot this past month - I've been travelling around Europe and expected to have better internet access than I did. For some reason in London and on the Disney Magic, my DH's computer just could not get DISboards to load. :( Well, we got home last night and while it was an incredible trip, it's so, so good to be home.

Of course now that I am back, I have some catching up to do, both on posts, QOTD archive and, unfortunately but not unexpectedly, poundage. I tried to balance holding the line with enjoying this long, amazing trip. The result...as of this morning, I am up 5 pounds overall for the summer. 3 or 4 of them from the last month. I feel it in my clothes and I see it in my appearance, definitely.

According to this article, the average weight gain for a week-long cruise is 8 lbs. :scared1: Given that I was on a cruise for more than twice that time plus time in London and Barcelona afterward....well, it is what it is now, and I'm jumping right back on the wagon. I'm the newest member of the Loser team, once more! :)

It's so good to be back - I can't wait to catch up some more here!

THanks, Lisa! It's better today. I'm feeling a bit icky today. May have been the 2nd drink I had last night and TOM arriving tomorrow. Also the weather has changed to rain and cooler temps which although I'm glad to have the rain finally it may be part of my problem.

I will get started on Tuesday with my new workout plan and life change! Tomorrow is DH's b'day so we will be eating out and having cake. I actually need to bake the cake after I type this.

I'm also kind of tired today. DD2 is taking a bath right now and DD1 is playing. We went to church and Trader Joe's and Staples this morning and then I came home and made lunch and went to the b'day with DD2. Came home and went back to cleaning and doing laundry which I also need to change over in a minute.

I know working out will make me feel better. Just hoping DH will actually join me! Watching Eureka with DH so I had better go! Once again I'm doing 3 things at once!

I feel you on the weather. I almost always get a cold when the weather changes like this. :headache:

Have birthday to your DH!

Gallbladder?? Appendix? Constipation? Kidney infection? Any of these things could cause pain that would be consistent with something in that region... gallbladder would be higher, near ribcage... appendix lower right quadrant... and constipation could cause pain anywhere from lower abdominal region all the way up to your chest. Kidney pain would be more lower mid-back probably. Hope it resolves quickly, no matter what it is!

Well... the timer for dinner should be beeping any minute! TTYL..............P

I'm feeling fine this morning. No complaints. With that in mind, I'm hoping it was just TOM. My sister laughed hyterically when I told her that I'm on a low dose birth control. She might be on to something. ;)

I have to ask...what is TVP? WTG on all that cooking! I keep asking my parents to buy a chest freezer so we can stockpile food. I 1) don't like to pay full price for anything and 2) don't like to go to the grocery store more often than 1x a week. It's 8-10 minutes away, which I know is nothing compared to you, but it's one of those superSUPERmarkets, so you can't just run in for some ground beef without 1) "needing" something else or 2) running into one of the neighbors. I don't get it-they live on our street, but we have to talk to them for 20 minutes in the grocery store. :rotfl:

Your pre-planning continues to amaze me! :goodvibes

CC--Congrats on making it to the gym. FWIW, when I first started doing the elliptical in January I could only make it for 20-30 minutes holding on--couldn't use the arm thingy, and could not go backwards. Now it's my favorite piece of equipment, and I tend to go a little crazy on it. I use it as a substitute for running! I think it's a great form of exercise, but definitely took me a little while to get used to it. Hope you have a great workout!

We had a productive day.

Thanks for the info on the elliptical! I should be going to the gym in the next hour or so.

Glad you had such a great day yesterday!

Might hop back on later to do my replies from today. I just need to vent for a minute. DH just left, and took Sophie to stay with MIL for the night and for some reason, I feel like crying. Don't know what's up today. I still have stuff on my to do list, gotta get bags packed, lunches, dinners, etc, which is normal for a Sunday night. He is telling me about stuff at work, the plant supervisor is on a psycho rampage and threatening to fire a bunch of people, called Brad in to talk to him, and threw a bunch of stuff at him that happened on first shift as if it was his fault. He's a little job scared, bills are pilling up, I'm stressed, and I just want to cry. He was fussing that there was nothing in the house to take for dinner, he didn't leave angry, just stressed.

Don't feel the need to comment on this little rant, I just needed to get it out. Can't let Anna Kat see me upset, don't want to drag mom in, and for some reason, don't really feel like "talking" to anyone so I don't want to call anyone....

I do not want to eat, my stomach hurts, so that's good. But I am thinking that running is that LAST thing I want to do in the am. Anyone else dread a run until it's done? Hopefully I can accomplish a lot in the next hour and go to bed feeling better! Also, I want to get back on and reply to a bunch of people!

Taryn

 Based on your next post, it sounds like things have perked up at least a bit. Hope things went well for DH and continue to go well! :goodvibes

Did you get in a run this morning?

Short note - just drove down to Charlottesville VA (9 hours) and I'm tired. Stopped at Panera for dinner and found out that VA restaurants aren't requuired to post caloried information. :scared1: I should have looked up their sandwiches before I left but frankly, never thought about the differences in the states requirements.

Every year around Christmastime we take a trip to NYC. One of my favorite parts of the trip is knowing the calories in something before it eat it! Even when we stop at a deli!

QOTD--Congratulations! You have just won an Adventures By Disney trip of your choice! Where would you go, who would you take and what would you do? Feel free to make up your own one of a kind trip (we're fantasizing here, right?;)) or you can take one that Disney already offers!

Maybe Australia...but what I'd love is one of Disney World itself. Kind of a cross between the Platinum Plan and having one of those guides take you around the World.

It's so nice to hear when we involve our families in your our healthier lifestyles! :thumbsup2

Glad you took my advice, even though I hadn't given it yet! :rotfl:

Thanks for making me feel better! Started the morning off with a 50 minute workout. I felt good when I got out of bed this morning and even better post-workout. Still planning a trip to the gym today,

Sounds like you had a really productive day yesterday!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I am hoping to get a job ASAP. I applied for a few positions late last week and a few more were posted over the weekend. I will work on those apps today and tomorrow.

I don't think I've ever heard of a broccoli quesedilla. I've heard of seafood tacos, but have never tried them. Maybe someday.

Have a great time at the waterpark!

Happy Birthday CC!!!:cool1: Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks Rose! I love the idea of volunteering. An organization I volunteered with in college is actually hiring. I'm considering applying. Not sure on the pay and I'd probably have to move so it's a lot to think about-wouldn't want to say no to a job offer for an organization I love.

Hope you feel better soon! :goodvibes

One last thing. Please continue the PD for my ds1. He has not heard from the new possible job and it should be this week. I am praying that he does get it.

Thanks. I know the good thoughts you sent last time got him the interview.

Sending PD to DS! :goodvibes

QOTD--I love summer, and hate to see it end, but after all the heat we've had, I'm looking forward to some cooler temps. What three things are you looking forward to about fall?

1. We are HUGE Patriots fans, so that is high on my list!

2. I love Halloween! -- I love the decorations, the creep and kooky, mysterious and ooky!

3. It has been so hot this summer, I'm looking forward to starting my runs in a comfortable temperature!

QOTD--What can you do today to treat your body with respect? And part 2--if you are up for it--Do you recognize in yourself any of the signs of negative or positive body image?

Today, I can eat my well-planned meals, and not try to push my body to do more than it's capable of today. I definitely had some negative body image going on this weekend. I was wearing a size smaller shirt than I bought at the beginning of summer (I was so excited when I put it on, I bought it thinking it might not actually fit, but hoping, and I thought it looked pretty good when I put it on), and I still felt so big next to my SIL, I just couldn't enjoy myself. She wanted to shop, and she led me into this store where nothing was ever going to fit me. Their XL was a 10-12, and that's the size shirt I was wearing...I started to feel hopeless, because I knew that no matter what I did, I was never going to get to those really small sizes -- especially the lower half of me! I don't think she was being deliberately cruel, this is one of my nicest SILs, but I still felt ginormous, and it showed in my eating...we ate lunch on the water and we both ordered a grilled grouper sandwich. I ate all of mine and the fries (I know, I hardly ever eat fries), and she ate 1/4 of her sandwich. I know I should have followed her example, but I was hungry...and it seemed pointless...you can see where this went. Anyway, I'm trying to regroup today. Yesterday was just a haze of pain and comfort eating, so I'm hoping that since I'm feeling a little better today (and I'm at work so I can't send anyone to get me anything from my kitchen), I'll do much better. :thumbsup2

QOTD--Congratulations! You have just won an Adventures By Disney trip of your choice! Where would you go, who would you take and what would you do? Feel free to make up your own one of a kind trip (we're fantasizing here, right?;)) or you can take one that Disney already offers!

I'm off to Egypt! When I saw they had these new trips I was immediately envious! I'm also terrified to go to the Middle East, but if I won the trip, I'd go! I'd bring my son, because my dh would not appreciate it. We would do everything offered on the trip (the longer one, of course!). I would really enjoy grilling the Egyptologist assigned to our group, and I would marvel at the pyramids and the Nile...It would truly be the trip of a lifetime! :woohoo:

Thank you to everyone who asked about my shoulder -- I wish I could tell you what I did, but I don't recall a particular moment of activity that caused it. It was sore Thursday, Friday and Sat., and then Sunday I woke up and I could barely move. I used icy/hot, biofreeze, and took Aleve, and I could still barely move. My dh said I looked like Frankenstein. :lmao: It wasn't pretty. Today I'm feeling a little better with more range of motion, but it's still pretty sore. I'm really hoping that tomorrow will be much, much better.

I would have called in sick today, but I have my annual review this afternoon. My boss is on vacation but is coming in just to do it (so she can turn it in on time), so I felt like I had to come in. I am not trying to accomplish anything crazy today, I'm just going to not move too much and look forward to getting home...I have all my healthy food with me (oops, forgot my vitamuffin...), and a healthy dinner planned. I'm going to stick to the food schedule and see what happens. I'm afraid this is not going to be much of a losing week for me, but I can at least eat well even if I can't actually move...

:bday: CC! -- I hope this is a fabulous year for you -- you can accomplish so much, your potential is endless!

 Corrina! :welcome: -- Great to see you back!

Maria :upsidedow

Good morning all! :goodvibes

:bday:party: to CC! I'm glad that you decided not to have a stealth birthday! ;) Good luck on the job search. I know there is a great job out there for you! :flower3:

Lisa--sounds like you are having a very productive weekend. I think the princess training will help. I think there is just something about long runs that does as much for me mentally as physically. I am calmer, more logical, do not overreact as much. I took an anti-depressant several years ago for about 6 months, and I find I get the same benefits from the long runs. What does this have to do with body image, well I am more able to logically think about things and be realistic with realistic goals and expectations. And even if I don't always love how I look, I know I have a very strong body and mind and that makes everything else a little easier.

Thanks, Rose! That is why we have these different questions, to make us think of these different things. It just hit me with that question that it has been so long since I had anything resembling a positive body image. :confused3 Silly me!

QOTD: I will force myself to drink some water today instead of only diet soda. As far as body image goes, I have a very poor view of my own. From bad veins in my legs to my crooked nose I see things from top to bottom that I would like to change. While some things are within my ability to change, others simply are not. I just haven't learned to accept what is yet.

Great job learning to accept what is, Deb! :flower3: Maybe cutting back on our soda habits will help us, too!

Glad that you are feeling great and the big move is going smoothly! Thank you for keeping up with the weightkeeping even though you are crazy busy! :flower3:

Hope. There was just a brief glimmer of my goal weight for this challenge on the scale this challenge. I weighed again later and it was up a bit more. If I can make it through this week without cheating, I'll be golden.

Looks like some really good conversation going on today. Hopefully I'll have some time tonight or tomorrow to catch up reading. Right now I have to make sure everything is ready for kids' first day of school tomorrow (supplies, clothes, lunches) - ugh.

Great job! I think that it would be a record if you were the BL for the whole challenge twice in a row. :cool2:

THanks, Lisa! It's better today. I'm feeling a bit icky today. May have been the 2nd drink I had last night and TOM arriving tomorrow. Also the weather has changed to rain and cooler temps which although I'm glad to have the rain finally it may be part of my problem.

 for the icky feeling, Tracey. Just curious, are you taking your multivitamins and healthy oils? Maybe your body needs a little extra something it isn't getting from your diet?

Cooking and fun in the same sentence? Not for me... but it's done and I will be GLAD to have easy stuff to pull from the freezer when things get crazy this fall!

Says the person who cooked up a big batch of beef yesterday . . . ;) Add me to the list of folks who are wondering what TVP is.

, Taryn. Some days we all just have to get through one day at a time. How much longer does DH have to work this weird shift?

I know it is a full moon, usually that just means weird calls at work. :confused3 But I'm taking the cleaning jag as long as it lasts! :thumbsup2

, Jude, as you said, we all weeks like that.

Here's Monday's QOTD, just in case I don't have time to get on in the morning.

QOTD--Congratulations! You have just won an Adventures By Disney trip of your choice! Where would you go, who would you take and what would you do? Feel free to make up your own one of a kind trip (we're fantasizing here, right?;)) or you can take one that Disney already offers!

, Rose, hope that you and Mike are feeling better soon. You didn't get any bad eggs did you?

Anyone else getting tired of hearing about all the food recalls lately? I've given up premade salads for awhile I've had so many recalled this summer. I'm making my salads from scratch and it really doesn't take too long and is cheaper, too.

I'm with Tracey, if I could go on an Adventures By Disney trip I would do Knights and Lights -- London and Paris -- with a trip to DL Paris at the end. :cool2: My fantasy ABD trip would be a trip to all five castles -- that is my dream to hit them all one day - - two down, three to go!

pixiedust: for your DS, donac!

:welcome: back, Corinne! Can't wait to hear all about your trip!

Maria,, hope that shoulder feels better soon! Don't you hate it when you don't even know what caused it so you can avoid it?

This is going to be an interesting week at work since DS is between camp and school. DH and I will take turns taking the afternoon off to be at home with him. Hoping that cleaning thing will continue through the week!

Have a great day all!

Lisa, I can honestly say I have NOT been taking care of myself at all lately. That will change tomorrow! I have totally let myself go and focused on everyone else and let the stress of everything get to me. I actually bought a book I can use as a journal yesterday and will be writing in it daily starting tonight. I will lose this 20-25 pounds I need to get rid of no matter what. I spoke with an Herbalife rep on Saturday afternoon and will be visiting the local wellness center she started in the next 2 weeks with the girls.

Good morning, ladies! :surfweb:

:bday: CC!! I hope it's a great one.

Today is the first day of school here, so I called and wished each of my nieces a happy day this morning. Even DD was promoted from the "3 year old" class and is starting her first day in the "young preschool" class at daycare today. (My baby is such a big girl! :goodvibes) So, whether you've already started classes or still have a week or two to go, I just wanted to wish all our teachers and everyone's school-age kids a happy first day of school! :flower3:

I am in organizing mode and have spent the first hour of work cleaning off my desk and trying to see what all little things I can get out of the way before starting my next project that will take the next 4 months to complete. It's a project that I work every Fall that HAS to be done by January and I am just TICKLED to be getting the specs this early - I usually don't get them until October! (It's funny the things that get us geeks excited...)

Have a great Monday, ladies!

Pamela--you were busy today. Is TVP a veggie protein? Have fun with your DS.:goodvibes

We had a productive day. Mike cut the grass, I planned the meals, we went to the running store for new shoes for Mike, and we went and looked at new phones. I think I might get an HTC hero (sprint). Does anyone have this phone? Just curious if anyone has an opinion. I'll probably check in one more time tonight to post tomorrow's qotd. Not sure if I will make it on until after work tomorrow, but if not hope everyone has a great, healthy day!

TVP is textured vegetable protein. Basically dry soy flakes. They get rehydrated with broth, stock, or just water. I used to buy them in bulk from a company called Dixie Kitchens... they sold them pre-flavored with a beef flavoring and they were dark brown. But I bought this batch locally and they aren't flavored or colored (light beige/tan), so they don't blend in as well (if you have a picky eater who might not like seeing this), but once you put taco seasoning or Manwich or anything like that on it, it all blends together. Plus I often add a can of fat free refried beans to the meat when I make tacos or Manwich... that blends in well too.

Feel better!!

Taryn

Just a  for you.

I'll try to reply tomorrow!!
Hope everyone had a good weekend
Jude:goodvibes

Even if they don't have to post the NI, I believe by Federal law they are required to provide if it is requested. Next time, try asking if they have anything you can look at. I've had arestaurant bring me out their kitchen binder full of NI for all of their menu items. Nothing I could take home with me, but I was allowed to look at it and check it with my WW Points Slider.

The most difficult restaurant I've ever dealt with is a local NE chain called Friendly's (family restaurant/ice cream shop).

WOW! This question could take me HOURS to answer. Here it is, briefly....

(that wavy "fantasy" music starts playing... everything goes hazy...:wizard:)

Adventures by Disney is offering a WORLD TOUR of every Disney park around the globe. Starting on the East coast of the US, you all meet for 5 days at Hilton Head... beach time, relaxing, meals provided, personal trainers available.

Next on to WDW for 6 days! Staying at the new BLT (top floor suite, of course)... start with morning EMH at MK, private "behind the scenes" tour starting at lunch, and an evening dessert buffett with private seating in the train station for Wishes and SpectroMagic.

Similar tours and private privileges at AK, DHS, and Epcot.

Next we fly to Europe for two days in Paris, followed by a full two days at DLParis, staying at whatever their luxury on-site hotel is.

Move on to a three week tour of "highlights"... Rome, Cairo, London, Austria, etc, etc, etc.

Next up, of couse is DisneySea Tokyo (or whatever they are calling it these days). Grand tour with an english-speaking guide of course!

On to a full one-week of Spa-level service at the new Hawaii resort and back to the mainland US for four days at the "original" park, Disneyland!

To return to the East Coast.... we fly south and finish our trip with a Disney Cruise through the Panama Canal!!

And of course, all of the yummy foods served along the way have been low fat and low cal and I return home without a weight gain!!

Hope you have a great time celebrating DH's birthday with him. Let me know how the new workout video is.

CC

Happy Birthday!!!:cheer2: Enjoy your day!

Instead of thinking of the "end" of something with the other job, think of it as a chance for a "fresh start" with something new! A new job, new adventure! Good luck with the job search.

Good morning Biggest Losers!

We missed you! You're trip sounds amazing! Can't wait to hear more about it! Just 5 pounds... lucky girl!! That will be gone in NO TIME!

:goodvibes

I answered the TVP question above. There are studies that prove that the more times per week you head into the grocery store, the more you spend, overall on groceries, no matter what your budget. If you buy just one or two "extras" on every stop, that gets multipled by the number of trips.

I agree with the desire for an additional freezer. But they can be expensive to run... don't get one any larger than you really need... and buy FROST FREE! I didn't and I regret it often.

Maria :upsidedow

Egypt has always been a HUGE dream of mine.... but I have the same concerns about traveling to the Middle East. I have an aunt and uncle who owned a travel agency for about 25 years and they have traveled the world extensively, including a few trips to see the pyramids... I've always been so envious!

Well... after I've spent the past HOUR reading and responding, I need to get moving!

I've had a lazy morning. I'm not even dressed yet!

My YMCA fitness room is closed for renovations for the next two weeks, so I will be working out at the downtown branch later today and I'm a bit nervous about it, but I'm sure it will be fine. I could run outside today, but since I have to head downtown with DD any how (local Y pool is also closed for renovations, so they are practicing downtown), so I figured I'd hit the fitness room, rather than run in the rain today.

I'm gonna fly now and get something done! TTYL............P

Good morning all! :goodvibes

:bday:party: to CC! I'm glad that you decided not to have a stealth birthday! ;) Good luck on the job search. I know there is a great job out there for you! :flower3:

Thank Lisa! The cake is in the oven now. I made it with soda. Not diet, but better than oil and eggs. We'll have it topped with fresh strawberries and some Cool Whip Free. Thanks for the good luck re: job search. I'm very optimistic.

Lisa, I can honestly say I have NOT been taking care of myself at all lately. That will change tomorrow! :thumbsup2 :woohoo::woohoo: on taking control! Two birthdays in less than 2 weeks is a lot. My sister's is in late July and my parents' anniversary was a few days ago, hence The Cheesecake Factory. I feel you.

So far, today has been a good day. I started the morning with a 50 minute workout. I will be going to the gym this afternoon. I was hoping to go this morning, but then I realized I had to bake my cake this morning. My parents offered to make it, but I have the time, so no biggie.

Have a great day everyone! Will probably check back in after dinner.

Okay, 1-Friday was my last day of work. It was a temporary position, but I had it for almost a year. I'm already bored out of my mind trying to think of something to do today.

2-Today is my birthday.

:bday: now why would you keep such great news from us....you would miss out on all the fun clippies :lmao: I hope you have a great day and also good luck with finding a new job.

I hope you have a fun day and decent weather. Here is some :wizard: for son. I will cross my fingers for him.

 I hope your tummy feels better soon. I agree that is the worst symptom to deal with.

Wow sounds like a trip of a lifetime. I would say you are a winner after only adding on 5lbs. It will come off quickly once you get back to your routine. Hang in there. Glad your home safe.

I AM COMPLETELY BLOATED TODAY! its driving me nutz. I feel like I look 6mths pregnant. I am at the end of TOM so I think that is the issue. I hope it goes away soon.

I did get a run in last night but only went for 30 minutes. I needed to get the kids a bath and bed at a decent time. We were lucky to get free tickets for another Iron Pigs baseball game tonight (phillies AAA) so we are heading there right after work. I am planning on eating before we go so no problems there. I have a ton to do at work today so I might not get back on here until tomorrow. I hope everyone is doing well today.

This seriously NEVER happens to me, but it's Monday and I am in an *unusually* good mood. Must have "O.D.'d" on caffeine or something. :hyper:
