Better with an ECV: all star movies or POR?

Hello!
Trying to make a three day adults only trip with my husband work and looking at airfare am realizing our reservations at POR might be too pricey. I am concerned with the bus situation at both of these options as in...will there ever be spots for my ECV by the time the bus gets to us? My only experience is at POP and while that was great with a dedicated bus, sometimes even then we had to wait quite a long time if I was not first in line. Of course. Not a problem but worried that either of the resorts I am looking at now be tough?

If you were to choose money aside is one easier than the other with an ECV? I am only doing three nights, two park days so the thought of spending an hour waiting for a bus at both ends is a bit exhausting :)

I've looked into staying off property so we can use a car however I think disassembling the ECV might be annoying? What would you do?

Also..right now our reseration at POR is 185 a night, ASM is about 125.

We went in January and I never saw anyone not make it on the bus, ECV or not.

Sorry, failed to say that we were at POR.

I think it depends on when you are going and where you plan on getting the bus. We were usually the third stop at POR and sometimes had difficulty getting on with just a stroller and without an ECV. Timing is everything. Close to park opening will be far more difficult to get on than an hour before or a couple of hours after.

I don't feel there's any advantage staying at a moderate over a value resort when it comes to an ECV. Both use buses.

We have used our car's trunk to transport an ECV back and forth from the parks. You have to dissemble the scooter into 4 or 5 pieces depending on the kind you have. For us, it really took two of us to do it even for the smaller scooters. The base is easier with two people doing it. The heaviest piece on a smaller scooter goes about 35 pounds.

We could make it around the resort without a scooter; so, we just took the battery in to our resort room with the charger. That saved two trips in and out of the car trunk. We actually had a portable cooler with wheels and a handle that we could put the battery in (like a dolly); so, it was easier bringing it back and forth.

For AK and HS we preferred using our car, but we got there early; so, we could be in the front and get handicap parking. For MK and Epcot we preferred the buses.

I have stayed at sports a lot and all but one time we had our own buss it never stopped at the other hotels either coming or going and when it came it was all ways empty I think you will be fine

If you are thinking AllStars, Sports is always the first bus stop when they share buses. That means you have the best possibility of not having a problem getting on the bus.

Thanks, all I feel a bit better now. This trip is a last minute thing and I am kind of flustered. It wasn't in our budget for the year so if we go ahead I need to keep the costs down. I've also never gone without the kids so it feels different and while I think I would prefer the more adult and more romantic POR if flights don't go down I will switch to off property or all star movies. (The only one that's still available) :) time to price out cars I didn't even think of leaving the scooter in the car! Great idea. My husband is able to carry it and put it together, I tried last time and couldn't manage on. My own,

Keep in mind that if you stay off property you don't get extra magic hours. Also, you do fastpass plus at the 30 day mark if you stay offsite, not the 60 day mark.

Not only do you need to consider the car rental cost, you have to pay the $15 parking fee each day for the Disney parks if you stay offsite. Make sure you get a car that can fit your scooter.

If you need a rest mid afternoon I find it much easier staying at an onsite resort.

Keep checking for cancellations and you may get All Star Sports. What the others say about the busing for that resort is true.

One benefit to POR - you can always take the Water Taxi to/from Disney Springs, and hub out of there. Adds on to the trip - but it's a lovely way to travel to/from the Resort! :)

Hi!mthanks so much for the help. We booked offsite because the Fairfield inn and jet blue together was almost half the price of booking jet blue alone! Very excited. We will deal with the scooter because I just didn't want to spend the money on the hotel on this spur of the moment trip. Luckily my husband has no issue dealing with the scooter and the car. NOW I have to decide if I want to decorate the scooter again...last time I went all out :)
