Better than Visa Magic Code?

This will be the first time we are renting a car during our trip. We will be visiting Universal for several days before heading to Disney so we will need a car from the airport and will keep it for 5 days and return it at the swan after we check in at the AKL. We will take the magic express back to the airport at the end of the following week so we don't need a car. Where do I go to book since I don't want to return the car to the airport? We really want to use the magic express to the airport for convenience and ease (that and the children LOVE the bus!)

I would like to use some of the codes and coupons, obviously, and would like to return the car close to Disney property if at all possible. Any suggestions?

If you want to return to the Dolphin (NOT the Swan) you will have to pick National or Alamo. The codes mentioned in this thread for National should work for you. Just select the Dolphin as your drop-off.

There are other rental car companies who have drop offs near WDW, but none so convenient as the Dolphin IMO. Check here for more rental car coupons and codes:

Just an FYI, if you're using the Visa Magic code as a backup possibility you're considering, check your rate. I've found the code rates for the Visa discount have gone sky high today. (Up, in some cases, hundreds of $$$)

Robin, would you mind telling me which car rental agency/code(s) you are currently using this year for your Christmas/NYE reservation? You have guided me so well in the past.:goodvibes
The best I have been able to come up this year for Christmas/NYE is Thrifty using the magicard code (found on mousesavers)

Thank you:goodvibes
I'm currently using the 69 code mentioned here. My backup is my DH's corporate rate.

Thanks for the codes! I got a 10 day full size rental in June for $237 total plus I used the link to get the free upgrade to Executive. I am renting the car locally and driving to Orlando and I just went over and looked at what they had in the Executive area. They have a huge selection with vans, a few suvs, Volvo and Buick Lucerne. I can't wait for the drive now.:goodvibes

I also used the link for the free upgrade to executive along with the magic TS code. Both worked like a charm. I'm also using them to pick up locally in Houston as well for our drive to Disney.

Wow, you're not kidding - I just got quoted a rate with the visa code - which is $200 higher than NO CODE at all.... :confused3

Robin,
Quick question, are you using 69 code or 67 code? Apologies if I'm confused. Thanks! lilyv

:scared1: WOW! Who exactly is that "magical" code supposed to benefit!:lmao:

Note that codes which bring up a rate code that include insurances , waiver etc included in the price, are from a foreign travel agency that is booking cars for people out of the country who do not have insurance in the U.S.

I don't know why National offers foreigners better rates than U.S. citizens, but that appears to be the case. Anyway, it's possible that a counter agent could ask to see your passport. I have heard of it happening twice, and both times the agent then said "but I'll let it go this time". Hope you're all as lucky!

If the code will save you big bucks, you might want to risk it. However, if it is only saving you a little, might be worth the peace of mind just to use the Kroger 6600334 code or the regular Emerald Code or the Entertainment code and not worry.
:confused3

Is the Visa "87" code an international code that I need to worry about? I thought I was okay since I found it on mousesavers.

You might do a quick calculation at the National website using that 87 code. I've found it's gone sky high-much higher than just using no code at all. After all the searching, I ended up using aarp national code for our next rental. The code is 6100120, but one has to be a member (DH is) and enter the membership # to get quotes. If I find any other good codes that are worry free, I'll post them. They don't make this easy, do they? :)

I already have a great rate using the Visa Magic code. When I tried it today it had gone up--you won't believe this--by over $1000!!!!!!!!!!!! So now I am worried about using --87. My dates are Dec. 28 - Jan. 6 and Alamo's rates are also out of sight. I do belong to AARP, but no rates can match the $274 I have with --87 ($1315 today!!!) and $196 I have with --67. So is --87 safe?
