Better than Visa Magic Code?

I don't think that this has been mentioned before, but for a future reservation (using 8572967) I get the same price if I try and pick up the car at 2:30 or 3:00. Normally if you try and pick up a car on the half hour the final cost is more.
Really? I usually just take the default times and don't bother to put in my real times.

Thanks OP! I got an 8 day rental in mid June for $121 using the 8572957 code and ND2119071Q coupon!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the codes! I got a 10 day full size rental in June for $237 total plus I used the link to get the free upgrade to Executive. I am renting the car locally and driving to Orlando and I just went over and looked at what they had in the Executive area. They have a huge selection with vans, a few suvs, Volvo and Buick Lucerne. I can't wait for the drive now.:goodvibes

Can you post that link you mentioned?
thanks!

information on these codes....:confused3

I haven't read any new info on any travel boards I frequent. Everyone who uses the "57" or "67" code just needs to remember do so with their eyes wide open. Hopefully, people who are first reading about these codes are reading this whoel thread first so they can make an informed decision. The only thing I have read recently is Avis requiring ID for nonpublic codes used, and if there is no proper ID, renters are are charged rack rate at that time. It is only a matter of time before National catches on as these low rental rates are sure to impact their bottom line. At that point, they could ask for Travel Solutions ID at the exit gate or change the code and honor the existing reservations. I hope they choose the latter. I wish there phone agents had been consistent as to whether this code requires ID or not. I am not using the codes to play it safe. The rule I have always followed is if a code is truly public, it eventually shows up on Mary's site at mousesaver.com. If the codes were public, Mary has had enough time to research it and post it on her site by now. For those using the codes, please keep us updated as to your success for those who are chosing to use the same codes. Good Luck!:goodvibes

This was posted yesterday on one of the Flyer Talk threads linked here:

I picked up another "57" rental today in Manhattan and the woman at the counter told me that the code is supposed to be for international travelers and I am supposed to show a foreign passport. But she would "let it slide" this one time.

It should be noted that I have been served by this woman before and I have always found her to be difficult to deal with.

Has anyone else been told the passport requirement before?

I am going to stick with the '67' code.

I used it and the free EA upgrade to Executive to get a 10day full-size Exec Select car in Aug for the price of a midsize $220.67 incl all taxes, fees, insurance - the whole sh'bang!!

Hi Tissa,
I just got a great rate for Xmas week! What is the 'executive' area you are talking about, and where did you find the link to get the free upgrade to executive? any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is a great site!
:cheer2:

You shouldn't do this for a couple of reasons. #1, the prices can vary even if you change the times by a 1/2 hour, so you may get a better rate if you use your real times. #2, if you leave it at 12 Noon and then you don't show up until 3 PM, they could invalidate your reservation as a No Show.

I have never had a problem before :confused3. I also often make my car reservations MONTHS in advance. For instance, I already have my Christmas/NYE reservations in place. BUT I don't have airfare yet 'cause it's too scary.

Robin, would you mind telling me which car rental agency/code(s) you are currently using this year for your Christmas/NYE reservation? You have guided me so well in the past.:goodvibes
The best I have been able to come up this year for Christmas/NYE is Thrifty using the magicard code (found on mousesavers)

Thank you:goodvibes

Glad to hear it! I just know that at busier times of the year when there is a shortage of cars it may become a problem.

So I just made a ressie at National after reading some hints on this thread. I got my Executive Emerald Club Status and used the "67" code. I got a great rate on a minivan $243 for 10 days!! :cool1:

However... it says "level of service: Counter" :confused3 I guess I was hoping as an Executive Emerald Club member I could do Kiosk?? I am flying into Orange County Airport to visit Disneyland.

Any advice?

:upsidedow

perhaps they do not have an executive aisle there at orange county

we ran into the same thing in el paso....no EA and they assigned the car at the counter

do not let them slip you a mid size car, insist on a full size ( they tried this in el paso offered us a malibu or matrix ...which we declined and asked for something full size )
