Better late than never--home from VWL

We got home last Fri from our our 1st trip to VWL--LOVED IT!!!!! This was our 2nd trip home, SSR lst Dec, and I am determined to stay at many different places. Taht ebing said, both DH and I were constantly debating starting a waiting list for VWL for our Fall trip...LOL!!!!

We stayed in a studio, 1514, and the room was great. I am most happy to report that the A/C worked beautifully, as we had up to 110 degree heat index during our stay.

I will probably never try June again. The heat was unbearable...didn't even find the pool refreshing in the afternoons. I loved the programming they had for the kids all day. The lst 3 days we had the usual afternoon storms, and it gave them something to do.

Despite the heat and my being sick for 5/8 days, we had an awesome time!!!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Now, if I can just get them to find the stuffed animal my dau left behind.....

VWL is one of our home resorts...glad that you enjoyed the resort!

Almost all of our trips have been during the summer due to school schedules. The heat is oppressive, but I think this year is about as bad as it has been in a while.

Our first trip to WDW in 1998 there was a drought and it was brutally hot (100 degrees a couple of days). We had a good time anyway but were reluctant to try WDW in the summer again. Our next trip was in 2000 in July and it was not as hot (about 88-90 degrees). We then realized that WDW is typically not that much different than a St. Louis summer day.

After 10 summer trips to WDW, we have no regrets. We learned how to handle the heat and there are some benefits such as longer park hours and no attractions down for refurbishing.

So if you can avoid the summer, that's good. But I wouldn't hesitate to go again during the summer if that's your only option that year.

We almost always go in June - DH & I are both teachers w/three kids in school. I will agree with Granny - this year has been a little out of the normal. Yes, it's always hot in June, but it's not always this bad. I was feeling sorry for myself for enduring the heat, until I texted some friends home in KY and the temp. and heat index were about the same at home as it was in WDW. So, if I'm going to be terribly hot and sweaty - I'd rather be at WDW!

We just stayed at BCV and the pool was not very refreshing either. In all our summer trips, this is the first time the pool was so warm (except AKL in mid-July).

It is as hot in central VA today too. I can't even imagine what FL feels like. The temperature currently is 100.4 and has hovered in the 90s all week - this is also usual for us.

We stayed at VWL in Jan and we love the resort (we have stayed there before). Be happy you had hot weather, we were there when they had the coldest temps on record. No Pool for us in January. We always go in Jan and this was the first time we did not get in the pool. Every day was cold. We just came back from a trip in May and the weather was great and we enjoyed the pool every day. AKV at Jambo the pool was even a little cool. I know what you mean though when it is so hot. We have been in July and the pool was not even refreshing. Like the time at home when I left my pool heater on and Oh Well let's just say it was a hot Pool

Hey there, we stayed in the same studio on one of our first DVC trips! It was a great location. i liked being on the first floor, quick to get out and back in. and no long walk down a hallway. And it was a dedicated studio, so there was a little extra room, if I remember correctly.

i'm doing a solo trip at the beginning of August, staying at VWL in a studio. i wouldn't mind a room in this area again.

But, i'll have to remember: one morning after showering, i was "dressed" {mostly} and went to open the drapes. The landscaping crew was outside working, what a surprise . Closed those drapes real quick.
