Cast--Liz(29 year old kid), Neth(DS10-otherwise known as ADDboy)
August 17 Sunday
Today is the day everyone else is supposed to arrive. Jimmie arrived a day early due to his job, and mom, dad and Geoff arrived early due to.......speeding???? No, I really don't know. Anyway, we call mom and she is up and ready to see her grandkids. I give her directions to get to the Contemporary hotel. (Note to self: always give directions directly to dad...) The plan is to take boats out for a little while, then head over to the Beach Club Villas and check in there. We finish packing and are out of the room around 10. Neth and I decide to head to Magic Kingdom for some mommy/son fun time. We take a radio so we can keep in touch and make plans to meet back up at the marina around 12.
Jason and Brenne take out a boat, so does Jimmie.
Neth and I walk quickly over to MK. It is hot, but not as bad as it has been. Humidity is not as bad either. There are characters everywhere! The town square is full of them. We see Pinocchio, Minnie Mouse, King Louie, Goofy's son Max, and about four others. When we get to the hub, we take the shortcut through Liberty Square to get to Frontierland, and who do we see under a tree signing autographs??? Pinocchio again! With Geppetto. Nethaniel says "Wow, he's really fast! Must have used one of the tunnels."
When we emerge into Frontierland, two of the Country Bears are out causing mischief. They are a lot of fun to watch. Stealing kids autograph books and walking away with them, playing keep away with them, running around playing tag. One of them even pretended to have a heart attack, so the other grabbed two autograph books to use as paddles and re-start his heart! It was so funny! ADDboy was in a hurry though. He really wants to ride Splash Mountain so we head over to see how long the wait is. 50 minutes, with Fastpass return over an hour away. I don't think we can manage this and still be back by 12. (By now it is 10:45) I tell him that perhaps we should do whatever rides we find without a wait, Splash Mountain will still be there on Tuesday when we come back. Pirates of the Caribbean has no wait, so we queue up. Neth kept his eyes open this time! As we are leaving Captain Hook is out with Mr. Smee, but ADDboy isn't really in the mood for autographs. He is however in the mood for a dole whip! I get a dole whip float (heaven in a glass!!!) and Neth gets two regular dole whips. I still can't believe he ate both! Yummy, yum, yum.....
We get back to the central hub and Cinderella's Surprise Celebration is going on at the castle, so we stop to watch.
We then head straight across to Tomorrowland. Alien Encounter is the only thing with a short wait, but Neth isn't interested. Buzz Lightyear is outside of his ride, the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, but again, Neth doesn't want any autographs. We decide to hop onto the TTA--Tomorrowland Transit Authority. This was a first for us. Neth really likes this. Especially when it takes you inside Spaceship Earth. He decides that maybe he will ride Spaceship Earth, now that he has had a glimpse of it. When we get back to the TTA station, I ask the CM if we can stay on for another round. "No problem."
So we sit back and go around again. Once we get off it is nearing 12, so we start walking toward Main Street and the exit.
We duck into the confectionary shop. I get a Mickey turtle for later, Neth decides to buy huge jawbreakers for himself and Brenne using his own money. We walk towards the exit, happy yet sad. We don't really want to be leaving. Up the monorail ramp and over to the Contemporary.
