Hi everybody! :wave2:

We are heading down to DL in December for the Christmas decorations - yay! - and I was wondering if anyone has stayed at Park Place Inn. It looks like you can't beat the location.....

Thanks in advance! :flower3:

Unless they come out with good AP rates... I have reservations for this hotel to give it a try too for our December trip.

We had a pretty good experience here in 2007 and in 2006 (Nov.)... The one time we got a room overlooking the park, but there is no balcony. It was nice to look out the window and see everything going on, though. The other time our room faced the pool, and it made me feel somewhat claustrophobic to not be able to see anything but walls of the other rooms, surrounding the pool. The rooms were clean, glasses wrapped in sealed plastic from what I recall. Beds were comfortable enough, but are doubles, not queens, I think. The room was pretty dark, we found. They have safety deposit boxes you can ask for when you check in, and sometimes they run out, they told me, but both times we had one. They give you a key for it, and the deposit box is at the front desk. If you lose the key, I think you pay around $250, but I don't know if that is for sure or not, but I must have checked a million times a day to make sure I had 1.) My Disney passes 2.) my key to the safety deposit box on me at all times! Denny's was awesome - Cap'n Kidds, well, you may want to do some more research on it. We found 2-4 breakfasts out of the week (free) we could handle, but after that we were sick of the VERY stale bread for toast. The best thing there was the toasted bagels with cream cheese, and I was scared to eat the eggs in case they weren't so fresh. Cereal, (generic, not very good brand name) was offered, as well as juice, etc. You were to eat there, not take a tray back to your room, and the room filled quickly, and tables were pretty dirty. BUT IT WAS FREE ('cept for the tip jar they had there) so we didn't complain. No bugs of any kind were found in the room. I think housekeeping were mostly Spanish speaking because we had to play charades for a little while when we were talking, LOL. They were VERY appreciative of the room tips. On one trip, our doorlock was so tricky to open, but they came and fixed it at once. Or rather, tried to, LOL. We didn't want to take more time out of our trip sitting there while they fixed it so we had to really really quick swipe the card for that room. Pool area seemed clean, tidy, and refreshing. Staff was pleasant enough.

Edited to add: The distance to the park was HEAVEN and there was a small convenience store in another hotel just to the left (when facing the hotel when you cross the street from Disneyland.)

If anyone sees Elizabeth there, the homeless lady who sits on the bus shelter, please give her a smile. That was our one really, really sad thing about our trip, was seeing someone who was likely a Grandma to someone, sleeping outside on the bus stop bench every night we were there in 2007... she had one cart with her (bag with wheels) and at night, she put on her gloves, and toque, and would rest her head. I was bothered by that for hours/days, and upon asking the front desk about her, they said they offer her what they can, but she always declines umbrellas, etc. - she gets paid monthly, so can afford to eat, but is homeless. She doesn't like crowds too much, they told me, so when it gets too much for her, she heads further down the line. One night there was also a man who looked sane at first, but as he began to talk and laugh amongst himself, I realized perhaps he was not really all there. Very sad indeed.

We have stayed there 4 times over the past ten years or so and it is our favorite place to stay. It is nothing fancy, but it is clean, seems to be kept up well and the location can’t be beat. The rooms are fairly dark as mentioned, but since we barely do more than sleep, take a shower and eat lunch in the room that really doesn’t matter to us. I believe all rooms have small refrigerators and microwaves, so that helps too.

I have stayed there twice. Once in fall of 2004 and again June 2007. Both times I stayed in a Mini Suite (two queens and a fold out couch). I enjoyed my stay both times. Clean rooms and staff seems friendly enough. Breakfast was better the first time as it was less crowded that time of year (in the summer it was hard to find a place to sit) and the selection was ok. It was good enough to hold us over until we had an early lunch in the park. The best part was in the evening when everyone has very tired feet and it wasn't far to walk. I would stay there again.

Ive stayed there more than 20 times over the past 7 or 8 years an its by far my favorite for location but not price. I like having a refrigerator with small freezer. We get internt in some rooms but not all rooms. we always get a king size bed now that my kids are grown but before that it was always two queens and a fold out couch. I have never gotten a double there, im not sure that is avaliable.

we never use the free breakfast thing. We just trash the coupons. My favorite room now that we go empty nest is actualy the side a previous person said they dont like. Its the very last room on the same side of the office second floor. we use the elevator for my husbands wheel chair and then it goes into the room great. Its a king size bed, and absolutly nobody walks by us or is above us so its so quiet for us.

We stayed there last June. Our room was VERY clean. We had the mini suite, it was so nice for our family of four. Our room was on the backside of the hotel so we had a nice view of the fireworks from our walkway just outside the door. The staff were all very pleasant. The location is the best! The pool is tiny but it was nice and clean and since its tucked in between the buildings, its very shaded which is nice on a hot day.

My only complaint about this hotel: They won't let you take away any items from the breakfast area. Normally my husband and son go over, eat and then bring back a couple of danishes for me and my daughter. I think a lot of people like to do this and it was a bit inconvenient for us. My husband said there were several people complaining about this. They give you vouchers but you cannot take anything away and they watch you pretty closely! And since there is limited seating, you may have to stand to eat the food (that's what happened to my daughter and I) which is just so dumb in my opinion.

Thanks for all the info on this thread. I know I wasn't the orig poster but thanks. We are staying there in two weeks and the info that you gave Amy&Dan was totally helpful. We were hoping to be able to take away a piece of fruit and muffin from the buffet. Now we will adjust our grocery order accordingly. Thanks.

I like this hotel. It's close, it's clean, there is a good amount of parking, and it's fairly cheap. But don't count on the breakfast...it's awful.

Thank you all for your replies!! :flower3: I have made our reservations, but will definitely be bringing our own breakfast! ;)

Thanks again!

We just returned today from our 6 night stay there.

Pros-So close to the park, although since I'm so out of shape and pregnant, that I wished I had chosen a hotel with a shuttle. I was so jealous of the people able to get on a shuttle. That walk from the hotel room to the main gate was a killer for me, but it IS the closest hotel in walking distance.

Rooms were very clean, no bugs at all.
TV, wireless internet,
relatively quiet
microwave and refrigerator
beds were basically comfortable, extra pillows and blankets provided in a closet

We had a room on the third floor, near the elevator.
Cons
Our room faced the pool, it did get a little noisy with some screaming children enjoying the pool.
The rooms were dark even with all the lights on.
Halls were also somewhat dark.
I noticed that 3 the overhead lights were out one night on the first level, but they were fixed the following night.
The electrical sockets would not hold the plugs, they kept falling out (i'm not sure if that was just my particular room).
A little stuffy in the room
Parking was free, but a nightmare. Spaces were Sooo tight.

No glitches or major problems
