We stay here. It's clean, enough room for us, close, quiet. Nothing fancy. No complaints. The pool is fine, too, although we don't usually spend much if any time there. Price is great!
We are staying there on our trip - it will be our first time.
I heard that it is an good hotel. The pool got really low ratings, but we are staying there because it is really close to the park and bus stop, and we are taking Gray Line to Universal Studios and Lego Land too.
Last year we stayed at Hojo, and that was just too dang far for us at the end of the day. The year before we stayed at Camelot, and if we didn't stay at BWPPI, we would probably be back at Camleot again.
I don't recall the room # we had New Year's week 2008, but it was ground floor, towards the back and extremely loud! It opened up right on the parking lot, and we heard car doors, car alarms, & people walking by constantly. We couldn't sleep at all and I seriously considered moving down to the street at our favorite HoJo's. We've moved back to HoJo's since then and are much happier with the indoor corridors. I suspect BWPPI may have been much better on an upper floor, but they were full and had none available for us. Despite the close location, I won't stay there again and risk getting a ground floor room.
We like BWPPI a lot--much cleaner and more friendly staff than the BW Anaheim Inn. Also cleaner than HoJo IMO.
You get free breakfast next door as well--clean and simple continental--juice, coffee, cereal, muffins, pastries...very fast to serve yourself and nice comfy booths to sit down.
They also recently started charging for parking at the beginning of this year. It's $8 per night and you have to move your car by 3:00 on check-out day. I thought that this was especially off-putting because I hear that the parking there is terrible, lol.
Regardless I am still wavering back and forth between HoJo and here because I'm worried about the walk from HoJo. We stayed at Portofino Inn last year and after a few days the walk back and forth twice a day killed us. I'm really having trouble choosing between awesome service/free parking/slightly cheaper price vs. awesome location/free so-so breakfast.
Same with us, but since in the past we went with the cheaper/farther... we are going with closer this time. The short walk at the end of a Disney Day is worth TONS IMO. I told hubby this time I want to step out of the crosswalk and into my bed . (Although Carousel is only a few steps down the sidewalk. We might do that one. Still not done arguing LOL!)
Stayed at the Grand last year but prior to that we've stayed at BWPPI year after year after year! We love it for all the reasons above and over the past few visits we've noticed them working on making little upgrades around the complex.
Staff and CS have always been great there too!!
This year we're trying Hojo for the first time. I'm not looking forward to the walk...but the pool looks great for the kids and the price is crazy good!!
I don't know how relevant it will be after 4.25 years, but...
We went around Oct 25th to Nov 2nd in 2005. Great Halloween stuff, and Christmas decorations were getting started.
our family of 5 was on a budget, and after reading much info on this site and mouseplanet, etc. we chose an upper level room towards the back(better for noise issues). The rooms were dated but relatively clean.
It was perfect for us, as we were there to enjoy Disneyland - not the hotel. It was just a place to crash. Continental breakfast at Captain Kidds(sp?) was adequate to get us started, and because it was close enough, we could come back mid-day for a rest or to eat some in room groceries for lunch.
We only went to use the pool once or twice, and it was adequate. I don't recall having any complaints, and when we go back this year or next - we plan to stay there. It is familiar, and to overuse the term, adequate - except for the location, which is fantastic.
We stayed there last June at had no complaints, room was clean, never saw any bugs, loved the size of the fridge and location, location, location. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. We also stayed there about 8 years ago and no complaints then too. Also, both times we had a room on the ground floor, this last time all the way in the back by the stairs and the first time the very first room. This room was rather noisey, but the one in the back was fine. I was really worried about the stairs, but it wasn't an issue at all for us. Have fun!!
