I'm trying to plan which weekend to go to the Food and Wine Festival, and I'm looking for advice. I went two years ago the first weekend in November, and while the crowds weren't too bad, I did run into the Super Soap Weekend, which I could take or leave. Right now I'm looking at either the weekend of Oct. 24-26, Oct 31-Nov 2, or Nov 7-9. I was just going to do the October weekend, but I know that October is considered regular season while November is value season, so the hotel room would be a little cheaper if I went in November. What I really don't want to run into is Jersey Week, but I don't know when that is. Anyway, if you were choosing between these three weekends, which would you choose?

Schools in New Jersey are closed Nov 4th, 6th, and 7th. The only way to get around the Jersey Week out of your selected dates is for you to go OCT 24-27.

I would go Oct 24 -26. We went last year in October and it was very nice. Weather is good and the parks are not that crowded. Aditionally, if you have any kids (didnt say) they could hit Mickey's not to scary halloween party one night.

By the way, gotta pace yourself. DW and I had a great time. However, can't remeber much about the last 3 or 4 tastings. Slept real well that night.

Thanks for the advice. My birthday is the 27th, so it will kind of be a birthday celebration if I go the 24-26th. I don't have any children, so MNSSHP probably won't be something I'll do.

And I've done the food and wine festival before and you're correct, if you don't pace yourself, you might end up stumbling into the lagoon!

Thanks for both your advice.

hi: we did that time frame in october last year and new jersey week the year before. it was a bit less crowded in october. this year, we're doing a ladies only trip the second week of november. thankfully we're staying at bwv again so we can just stumble home if needed.

I stayed at the Swan the last time I did the festival and I agree, it is so great to just stumble back home. I was going to try for the Swan and Dolphin again, assuming I can get a good AP rate, but now I hear they're no longer waiving the 10/night resort fee even if you request it waived. I have a real issue with spending an extra 30 bucks for items I won't even use, especially when I'm already spending more than I normally would for a hotel (I'd normally stay at a moderate). So I may have to stumble to a bus and then into the hotel room.

We were there the 1st weekend this past weekend, and it was a blast! In your case, I would choose the 1st weekend you have listed, and avoid the last!
