Best week May 2012?

I have a gazillion questions if anyone can help me please. Any suggestion on which week in May may be the best? We will go Sat - Wed either starting the 5th, 12th or 19th. Do Cinco de Mayo or Mother's Day increase crowds significantly? Are crowds impacted early in the week prior to Memorial Day as I noticed hours were slightly longer the full week? Disneyland closed at 5 PM on the Saturday the 7th of May this year. Is that a regularly scheduled special event and how much notice is given when they do this? Suggestions and opinions greatly appreciated.

The 5PM closure was a special event when Disneyland hosted the POTC 4 movie premiere. That kind of thing does not happen often. The last time? The POTC 3 movie premiere several years ago.

The later in May you go the better chance you have of being able to go into the new CarsLand which will likely open in June. The only weekend to avoid if you really want to avoid crowds is the final weekend of Memorial Day.

You sure you can't wait a few more weeks and then be able to see CarsLand?

In 2010 we went the week following Mother's Day. Sun-Thurs. Mother's Day was definitely busier, but Mon.-Wed. was great! We had no trouble getting on rides, eating, etc. We were traveling with our 2yr old at the time, and it was perfect. Great weather too! Only drawback is that the parks had shorter hours and fireworks only on weekends.

Next year we're going May 13th.

I think you can't go wrong with the first 3 weeks of May.

Well if you want less crowds go earlier. Thats what we did this year and it was fantastic. Carsland is supposed to open in the spring so if you want to see that I would go later, but be prepared for horrendous crowds. The calendar is usually set up about 60 to 90 days in advance.

We went the first week of May one year and it was great! Everyone is waiting for school to get out before taking their trip, so the crowds are pretty low. I think either of the first two weeks will be great. 3rd week may be busier, and don't forget all the graduation nights at Disney w/ highschoolers, etc. So I'd say the earlier, the better. I don't think Cinco De Mayo has any affect on attendance. If anything, there are probably less people, because they are out drinking instead!

Also, I bet crowds will be even lower this May considering most people will want to wait until Carsland is open.
