Hello to all,

What is the best site for checking all airlines ticket prices?

How many of you fellow Disers travel from Upstate NY? Where do you usually find your best airfares? I do not have any frequent flyer reward programs so I have to pay for airfare out of pocket for myself and DD's.

thanks!

itasoftware.com

You have to register, but it's free. You can't buy there, but get the flight details and go back to the airline's website, and you should be able to match the price.

Personally I like www.orbitz.com
I don't think they have Southwest, but we never use them. We are primarily interested in ATA, American, United, and maybe Spirit. Then we book on the airline's regular site.

I also like the ITA software, but also check SWA, and www.flyi.com for Independence air (new to Albany this month..., and from what I understand they will be adding MCO in Nov.) I am also on Travelzoo.com's newsletter for updates too!!!

Are you using Albany or another airport? Stewart also has some low cost carriers too, and I think you can get Jet Blue out of VT if that's close to you. Welcome to the Disboards!!!:p

Try SideStep. It's a free search tool that you download. Sidestep automatically launches when you search for airfare, hotels or car rentals.

I use it in conjuction with Orbitz/Expedia/Travelocity or the airline's website to make sure I'm getting the best price available. (It does pull up low cost airlines such as Southwest and Independence Air.)

I use Orbitz and Travelocity. We don't have SW, so that doesn't matter. Jet Blue I just go directly to their website.

I usually use SideStep (we're downstate)...but I will go directly onto the airline websites --- say SideStep has a cheap Delta flight...but not the times I want ..... I have gone onto Delta Song and found cheaper flights than SideStep has come up with (also on Spirit Airlines (but I don't know if they fly from upstate)....

good luck

Sidestep user here also.....its helped me many many times over.

Plus, sign up for all the farewatchers that you can on various travel sites.

Bestfares.com is also quite useful and has MANY bargains listed!

happy planning!

I use Orbitz, but also use some sites for airlines not on there like JetBlue.

Orbitz seems to be the fastest and more comprehensive. Travelocity and Expdia are pretty decent as well.

Another sidestep user here.

I also use for car rental. Just booked an Intrepid for $112/week for October that I found thru sidestep. The icon sits on your desktop/taskbar and you just punch in dates. Easy to check often.

interesting about independence air in albany. Anyone know much about them?? Albany is a tad over an hour from me. Will either fly out of albany, syracuse or newburg....

PS about sidestep. I have downloaded it twice. The icon lasts for about two weeks, then it goes to the little white square with the windows flag. (the one you get when your computer doesn't recognize the program...) Any ideas as to why I have to keep downloading it?
