best way to pack snorkle gear?

this will be our first time snorkleing and i am bringing 2 masks and 2 snorkles which i just bought, they did not come with any type of carrying case and i am not sure they will fit in a plastic bag or if this is not even a good idea . but we do plan on using the gear at castaway cay and packing it that evening . any tips for this newbie? thanks tomi

We packed our 4 sets of snorkel equipment in a duffel bag before leaving home, checked it in with other luggage at airport with no problems. Then on our day at Castaway Cay just grabbed duffel bag and was ready to go.

I usually check most of my snorkel gear in my luggage except for my snorkeling mask. since it has my prescription lenses in it, i normally have it in my carry on because i couldn't bear to not have it if something happened to my luggage.

We have net bags for each set of gear. One of our suitcases was all shoes and stuff and we packed our gear in with all of that. We had no problems.

But you may want to take plastic garbage bags for the trip home. The last day is Castaway Cay day and if you want to snorkel there, and you do, your equipment may still have water and sand, (flippers), in it when it comes time to put your luggage outside the door. Put all your equipment in a plastic bag and you won't have a problem!

We just bought a wide neoprene strap for my snorkel mask! I can hardly wait to use it. THe plastic strap always caught my hair and wouldn't go on properly because it was twisiting and catching hair. I should have no problem with the new strap!!!!!!!!!!

i think i'm all set now wish me luck,i have a waterproof cloth bag which i will use and will pack with shoes.thanks for all your help.

I'll be packing it in the hard case with all of the wine. That way, just in case a bottle breaks and wine actually makes it past the doublle bagging, it won't be ruining any clothes.
