Best way to get from WL to FW?

We'll be at VWL in Sept and wanting to go to a number of activities at FW but not having a car. What are our options for getting to/from FW?

You can take the boat, walk or rent a bike and use the trail. If you are doing a few activities at FW I would suggest renting a bike for the day so you can do lots of exploring. It feels like it's own little world over there.

Normally I would opt for the boats, but if you are down at the far end of VWL (away from WL) then you might want to just walk over to FW. The boat dock is at the far end of WL away from VWL, but since the entire complex is so small, distance is a relative term especially when compared with SSR or OKW. The two miniboats run on a WL, FW, CR loop and run in opposite directions so getting to FW is just a short boat ride. The larger blue and green boats run on a MK, WL and FW loop. So with 4 different boats running continuously during the day, getting to and from FW is not an issue. Also, these boats are fast boats and not the slow barges that run over at BCV or BWV.

Thanks for the boat info.. How late do these run?

Can you estimate the walking distance from VWL to FW? We wanted to do things like the campfire sing-a-long and since FW is soo large I'm wondering if it would be a 2 mile walk to get to that destination from VWL.

I have found it difficult to find a map that shows both VWL, FW with some indication where the path is that connects the two.. I also need a map that helps me know where the FW activities are since FW is so large. Perhaps I should call FW and ask if they can mail me a detailed resort map. (thinking out loud)

If you google Ft Wilderness there are a couple of good sites with maps. I believe the path between the 2 is 1 mile. For the camp fire sing along you can hop an internal Ft Wilderness bus.

As far as the last boat, when we were at WL in January the last miniboat(WL, FW, CR) left CR for WL at 10pm sharp. I'm sure that the times are adjusted depending on the closing times of MK. Not sure about the last times of the green and blue boats(MK, WL, FW).
