My sis and I are taking our dad on his 1st WDW adventure in July. We'll also have our sons in tow (5 and 18 mo.). What is the best strategy to get FPs for Soarin' when we get to Epcot? I don't want to be separated from the group for too long, but I really want those FPs!
Any advice would be appreciated!

When the Park opens you go ahead of your party (with all your parties tickets) immediately to Soarin get FP's for everyone and then meet your party near the entrance to Soarin when they arrive. That way you can ride twice. Once when the Park opens (when the line won't be too long) and then again later with the FP's.

I don't think the 18 month old can ride Soarin' - so you'll have to do a child swap. Check with the CM at the entrance to Soarin' for the way to do it.

There is definitely a height restriction. I remember the CM's measure kids when we were there. These kids were all around 3yrs old and some of them did not make it.

Since the baby can't ride soarin I would send two adults and the five year old to soarin first thing in the morning with the cowd. One adult can push the stroller with the baby and take their time getting there since the baby will slow them all down if they go together. Once the adult with the bay arrives they can get a baby swap pass and the fast passes while they wait for their party to exit. Just remember that the adult with the baby has to have all the park tickets with them. This way three people can ride three times and one person can ride twice :)

This is exactly what we did on a recent trip. My wife, mom and two older sons went with the masses first thing in the morning while I pushed the stoller with the baby. When I got there I got a baby swap pass and a FP for all. The kids rode three times.

I believe the height restriction is 40". Then, if they don't meet the height maker on the ride they need to use the middle part of the seatbelt (up between the legs).

I sent DH to get FP while me and the kids hit Test Track. By the time we were getting off the ride, my DH was getting on TT so we waited for him. within 10 mins we had FP for Soarin and 1 ride on TT.

We went during what was supposed to be a quiet weekend but it ended up being pretty busy. However, when we got to Soarin first thing in the morning, there was only a 5 minute wait. We went ahead and grabbed fastpasses anyway. My dh took my girls on and got a babyswap for me. When they came off, the line was still only 5 minutes so we didn't need the babyswap so the girls and I headed back on. Came out, the line was 10 min (this was about 45min after park opening) and the girls were begging to go back on. So he took them back on, using the babyswap pass. When they got off, it was our fastpass time... believe it or not they begged us to go back on so I took them and then dh took them using our fastpasses. So in a matter of about an hour and 20 min, my girls rode Soarin 5 times, lol.

If you go first thing in the morning, those fast passes should be very easy to get and you might even get another ride out of it if it's short and you won't need the fast passes yet.
