Definitely worth losing a few weeks for the price.
Tell them you are buying a sponsored passport (they cost the same for both adult and child) and they will give you the temporary one to exchange inside the park. It has to be done on the same day. You'll need both passports for ID, and if you don't have the same surname as the child, you'll need a birth certificate showing you are the parent, or the birth certificate with the parent's name, a copy of their ID and a letter certifying they give permission for you to sign for them, and their parental responsibilty relationship
