So you can use the gift cards at the WDW table service restaurants? We are paying OOP for all meals, have 13 table service reservations. That's where a huge part of our money is coming into play... Thinking of having 250.00 a day to spend, covers meals, drinks, tips and things we buy. It's just me and DH. I have been to Disney 4 times, just went I was younger! I am unfamiliar on what I used then. I'm thinking gift cards and cash.. Thanks guys!

Yes you can use gift cards for almost every where including TS. The only place I couldn't was the light cart. Where they sell light up toys and the balloons. Other than that I was fine everywhere else :) including the popcorn stand!!!! :)

I'm surprised that only one person suggested credit card. That's all we ever use wherever and whenever we travel. I used a CC to buy a bottle of water and no one batted an eye. I did bring some cash as well, but I only used about $10 in ones for tip since we stayed at a timeshare. I would have needed more for room tips had we stayed in a regular hotel.

The Target/Disney GC is great for saving 5%, but I would be a nervous-wreck the entire time worrying about losing a GC.

To be honest we just charge everything to the card we used at check in with our KTTW card. I like having one big charge from Disney rather than multiple small charges. We did our dining out of pocket last time so there would have been a lot of charges. It's going to be even more convenient when we use magic bands next time.

Edited to add: our credit card has a really nice points system and we use it like a check card (pay it off every month) so we enjoyed getting lots of points on our last trip :) it counts travel as 2x points and the big charge from Disney was considered travel.

We charge everything to the room and pay by credit card, we also travel with a spare credit card for emergencies.

I checked in online but did not put a credit card in because I am unsure if we are bringing one or if we did bring one which one we would bring. Can you still charge back to room and then pay with gift cards each day, or if you charge back to room there has to be a credit card on file? Thanks guys!

Up you need a credit card on file and you have an upper limit put on it by the resort. Once you reach that limit you have to pay it and start again. But you could put a credit card on online and not take it with you and pay off what you charge with debit card.

This exactly.

put the Chase Sapphire Preferred on file and get one big bill at the end and 2x the points. Really a no brainer and very easy.

We have the same card. Love the points. We used points to pay for our flights on our last trip in April and just used points to pay for our flights for next April. We even were able to transfer the points and use them for southwest tickets which was an even better deal.

Yeah the 1:1 is great, hate the United devaluation but just like inflation I suppose. The Chase cards still have the best rewards setup. Do you guys also have a Freedom and/or Ink. Great combo for raking in the points.

If you're worried about loss, what about using one of those pre-paid credit cards. You get them for a certain amount, and when they're out of money, they're out. No worries about having them stolen and thousands charged back to you. One of my co-workers always does this. He pre-pays for whatever he can, and puts what cash he thinks will be needed onto a prepay visa. I think he gets it at either CVS or Walmart. The regular CC stays home.
We always have a Disney giftcard to use in the World for dining. Lets us stick to our budget better. We know what we have to spend, and where it went. Last visit we ended up with money still on it, because we overpriced our guesses.
On arrival, you could exchange for Disney Dollars ( I think they're still available at WDW). Those work well for tips, and small things like drinks and MickyBars. We used them for parking on a trip we stayed off-site. I kind wish the Disney Stores still sold them - they make much better presents than a gift card, IMO.
