best way between Epcot and MGM

We only have 1 day left on our passes from last year and want to spend them between Epcot and MGM. What is the best way to travel?

You could either take the boat between the IG of Epcot and the front of MGM, or you could walk past the Boardwalk and along the walkway by the canal. I'd probably choose walking because it would burn some calories and give me an excuse to eat more in the parks!

I would at least walk from Epcot to the S&D dock going pat the BW.

If you were still comfortable (ie not hot, etc.) then just keep walking instead of going past the bridge.

Can you tell me more about the boat at the IG at Epcot. Is there a charge, does it run continuously? Thank you for your help.

I think the boats come every 15 or 20 minutes, just like the buses. They are also free.

The boat makes three stops before getting to mgm so I usually find it faster to walk.

The Friendship boats make continuous loops througout the day between the International Gateway entrance/exit of Epcot to the Disney/MGM Studios. Along the route they stop at the Yacht/Beach club resorts, the Boardwalk, and the Swan/Dolphin resorts. I agree that they run something like every 15-20 minutes so if you just miss one it's a lot faster to just walk. It is a nice boat ride if you are not in any hurry, or if one just happens to be loading when you arrive at the dock.
The trip from Epcot to the Studios is probably around 20 minutes.
The walk between the two is almost the same, depending on how fast you walk.

We love the boats :boat: from Epcot to MGM. Yeah, it's faster to walk it (assuming all able bodied adults, and no straggling kids or adults), and it is a rather pleasant walk. In my experience, we end up walking an average of >12 miles a day on our WDW trips anyway, plus we've got DD (almost 5) and DS (7 and wheelchair bound), so in our case it just makes more sense for us to enjoy the boat ride, even if it is not always the fastest way.

Maybe walk to the Boardwalk, enjoy the atmosphere for a bit, then catch the next boat to MGM from there, just soaking in the magic the whole way. And if you miss the boat from the BW, then hop over to the Swan/Dolphin dock and catch it there (since there is an intermediate stop at the Yacht & Beach Clubs.

You may also take the bus between MGM & Epcot. From MGM if you want the Future World ("front part") of Epcot, you're better off taking the bus. If you want the World Showcase, you're better off taking the boat. Lot of walkers posting here. We find it a very long walk from MGM to Epcot. Nice to take a break & sit on either the boat or the bus since we also walk 10-12 mpd at WDW.

We used the boats this year. My ds thought it was great (because a lot of people don't know about it). I would never do the walk. Way too long. Just be aware that if you use the boats you are dropped off in the world showcase by france and not in the front of epcot.

As a previous poster stated, you can also catch the boat at the YC/BC or BWV/BWI.

It is about a 5-10 minute walk from the International Gateway at EPCOT to the Boardwalk. From the Boardwalk it can take another 15-20 minutes.

There are nice places to eat and drink on the boardwalk, in case you need a break. I find the walk a good excuse to stop at the ESPN club and get my favorite beverage (wouldn't want to get too parched on the way to MGM);)

The walk from MGM to Epcot is only about 15 minutes or so, and DH was pushing me in a wheelchair. He wasn't out-of-breath or tired, and I am no feather-weight, so I would judge the walk as average. However, if you have elderly or young kids with you, it would be easier to take the boat to Epcot. The boat is minimally air-conditioned, with the emphasis on minimal. If you have someone in a wheelchair due to pain/injury, definitely take the boat, because driving over the Boardwalk is very uncomfortable. I needed Darvocet just to go for a ride!
