Best Walking Sandal/Shoe

I, too, like the crocs, but last year when we were at WDW the strap of my beach ones were rubbing and I got a blister on the back of my heel. I switched to Tevas (dozer style) and they were great, light weight, etc. I was disappointed with my crocs but I think I just need to wear socks with them because I wear them all the time around the house and love them.

I gave them a try and went for a walk around the zoo here in Seattle. I have to say the shoes performed very well. No blisters on the back of my heel and no foot pain at all. I know walking around the zoo is only a minor test (not quite 10 miles of walking and more like probably 3) but I'm pretty satisfied with the shoe.

Without. I'm wearing them right now too. I'm simply in love with the shoe. I have narrow feet so I normally do get blisters on my heels. These shoes have the adjustable strap on the back that enables me to make it pretty tight on my heel so I can remain blister free.

The only upside to having to use a scooter is getting to wear the shoes I want ! But, when I walked everywhere, the Tevas were the best. I have a pair that must be ten years old and have been on every trip with me- touring, hiking, boating, you name it. The more expensive Tevas with a molded sole are like shoes (only better), but my husband needed the cheaper kind with no arch since he's pretty flat-footed.

My family of five all wear Tevas. One time we were in WDW and it really poured. We were in Future World by space mountain and the water was ten inches deep in some spots, and stayed that way for quite a while. We just waded through it all and kept right on going.

I am going to try Danskos, they look quite nice, but still comfortable. I generally only pack one pair of shoes, so they have to be multipurpose.

I wear Dansko clogs at least 3 times a week. They are extremely comfortable shoes. I'm seriously considering buying a pair of sandals by Dansko this year as a result.

I have to admit...I also thought Crocs were hideous..still do...BUT....I recently had some heal pain problems and read that Crocs were good for that.
so...I ordered the pink Disney ones...figured at least they would be Disney....they are so funny looking and I look like I am a little dutch girl with her clogs..

OMG they are SOOO comfy on my feet and they are great for heel pain, and I didn't realized how good they were until I stood in them...you just can't imagine.
I am wearing my Disney crocs to WDW in May and figure....hey other ladies are wearing them, and my feet will feel great. wth.

it sounds cliche....but they really are comfy and you can get past the goofiness...the colors are starting to grow on me..I actually want more.

I wanted to add that I have worn Merrills...loved them but they rubbed between my toes and I had to use mole skin. I also usually wear Nike Airs but my feet get hot. so the Crocs are good in the way that they don't rub anywhere on your feet.

I bought a pair of Merrill Palmetto's. They seem like they will be good but they are more casual dressy sooooooo.... I bought a pair of Crocs Cayman. I have read so much about them and a girl at work swears by them. I got them for $20 so what the heck if they turn out to just be beach shoes. By the way I bought the Merrills in Taupe and the Crocs in Khaki. I am such a color scaredy cat!

Anyway - We will be at the Wilderness Lodge in May too - I'll keep my eye out for some pink disney crocs

my mom works at a high-end comfort shoe store-

let me say, Crocs are BBBAAAADDDD for your feet- offer NO support whatsoever, caused bad probmes and knee problems, and from what I've read can even make your spine come out of alignment.

Keens- GREAT walking shoes. i rarely wear mine and other time but WDW, but I love them there.

new Balance are good, as are many other tennis shoes. Really anything with good support!

Teva's seem to be a close second to Crocs around here. Last year, I wore the Teva Elixir flip flop, and my feet never hurt. I still wear them all the time and I LOVE THEM!! They have great support.

Now, my dh was ANTI Crocs last year, then we went to Disney. I made him get a pair, and he loved them, much to his dismay. It was funny, he was wearing his sneakers, which killed his feet. We were at the hotel, and he went to get a drink from the food court and wore his Crocs. After we had our drinks, we went to the parks. It wasn't until we were in line for the bus that I realized that he still had his Crocs on!! Now, he loves them and he's proud!

For our upcoming trip, he has a pair, and I have a pearl Dis pair coming in the mail.

Am I the only person on earth who bought and wore Crocs and didn't like them? I have high arches and I found they gave me no support at all. I was really disappointed.

I just bought some Columbia sandals...so far they feel great. I'm hoping they'll work out for our Disney trip.

My son is an ER doc, and he often wears crocs to work, as do lots of nurses, techs, etc. So they must be comfortable for being on your feet a lot! Unfortunately, my feet are very narrow, so I have not been able to find any that will stay on my feet when walking. I wear Birks sometimes, but mostly my leather Danelle sandals with straps that give excellent support. They are styled somewhat like Tevas. I don't know if they are still available because I have had them for several years.

Another vote for Keen Newports. They are the absolute best for me.....but I do agree with a previous poster that it is an individual preference.

The Keens are the best shoes I ever had, with no sore back or aching calves. Love them!

The best walking shoe/sandal for you is the ones that fit YOUR feet. Go to a good shoe store and try on lots of shoes. Wear them a lot before you go to Disney. Remember you'll be hot and your feet may swell.

Some people swear by Birkenstocks; they don't fit my feet.
Others swear by Crocs; only the Crocs Scutes sandals have enough cushioning for me.
Tevas don't fit me.
Etc, etc.
