We are considering the Radio Flyer or Step 2 wagons. Which one do you recommend? Has anyone tried them at the beach? Do they roll ok on sand? Also, we are considering one with a canopy but like the door on the Step 2? Help please!

We have a 2 seat radio flyer- kids love it but it gets heavy to pull

We tried a wagon at the beach when the kids were younger. It was very difficult to roll. A better option we hit on is one of those rolling beach carts with two wheels. I love mine. It holds a lot of stuff, is easy to roll, and I have a place to hang the kids beach towels so they're not full of sand. Just google beach carts. I still use mine.

We have the radio flyer with two seats or you can use it as one seat and table, it has a really nice canopy and a cooler for the back, we love it!

We bought our wagon when dd turned 1, she is about to turn 9. We love our Radio Flyer. I looked on their site and it looks like they do not make the one like ours anymore. The weekend we bought ours, we bought three. Returned the others and kept the Radio Flyer, so worth the extra money. We love the one we have because the tires are real rubber and not loud plastic (like so many others). The handle is attached to an axle, so when turning the wagon, the wheels turn too and are not being dragged like on all of the other models we tried.

We did take ours to the beach last summer. My dh did not like it, neither did my friend's dh. They ended up carrying it because it just dug in the sand. BUT, my friends little girl did like sitting in it for a little while, but it wasn't worth the effort.

We have a radio flyer with 2 built in seats and a door. Looks similar in style to the Step 2, but it is a Radio Flyer. I could only find it online, and had to order it at a hardware store of all places (ACE hardware if they have one near you). So check online. They may still make it.

We actually owned a Step 2 one for about 2 weeks. It was the Safari one. It was horrible!!! It was cute, looked nice, the kids liked it, but the tires on it were just aweful! I only had one child at the time, and she had just turned 1 (she was under 20 lbs). It was her b-day present. We took it around the block a few times and the wheels started bowing. We put our neighbor child in it to go for a walk as well (he was 2 and not a heavy child) and the wheels bowed so bad it was like pulling a pile of bricks! We called step 2 to see what the deal was and she said it was a common problem they had with that wagon. So we took it back to the store and did a little more research. The radio flyer ones have a real rubber tire vs the plastic ones step 2 uses.

We have had ourk Radio Flyer wagon now for 3 years. My 4 yr old is 38 lbs, and my 2.5 yr old is 36 lbs. I still find it super easy to pull. Anyway, I recommend the radio flyer because they have the better wheels!

I agree with others that I would not take a wagon onto the beach  I tried this with my children when they were smaller, OMG, it is like dragging a dead elephant!! I have a beach cart too, definately the way to go, I have also seen people use jogger strollers on the beach and that seems to be better-I think they deflate some of the air from the tires. But, I use the beach cart-the best investment ever :lovestruc Now that my children are 6 and 11, I don't have to haul as much and it is wonderful

I'd recommend the Radio Flyer All-Terrain wagon. It's more expensive, but it has big inflatable rubber tires, unlike the cheaper wagons. It makes all the difference when trying to pull over the sand.

Does it pull smoothly? Yesterday I went to a consignment sale and they had a Radio Flyer with the two fold down seats and the wheels would not turn properly and it pulled horribly. I tested a customers step 2 and it pulled nicely. The problem is I think I would really like the Radio Flyer that has the fold down seats like yours where you can make it flat, make a table, etc. We already have one of the Radio Flyers with big air tires and wood slats on the sides. We would like a wagon that has actually seats, cup holders, etc. Do you use your canopy much? Is it flimsy? It looks like it might be on the website but hard to tell. I wish the RF had the little door that opens too.

It sounds like I should leave the wagon home when we go to the beach according to your alls experience. I will have to check into the beach cart. I foresee us needing one with two kids, cooler, sand toys, towels, etc.

See my post above, but Radio Flyer does make a wagon with 2 seats, cup holders, and a door. It's not available in stores, but online. We own that one and it very easy to pull!

We use our canopy but my little one can't handle too much sun directly on her due to seizure meds so for us its wonderful, she fits nice under it but she is about the size of a very tiny 1 1/2--2 year old and she is almost 4 so if your kids are tall I would test it in the store first if you can. I think it pulls nicely, we have the older model radio flyer too that is lower in the front and gets taller as it goes back with rubber tires and we also love that one too because it fits 3 toddlers pretty nice, I still use this when I have my daycare kids out sometimes and I bought that for my oldest dd when she was about 10months, who soon will be 9, so they hold up great:)
