best value souvenir

The best value will really depend on what you will use the most. For me, that is hoodies. I love my hoodies. I get a new one each trip and I wear them almost daily. I am always cold and DH is always hot so I even wear them in the summer when the AC is on.

I was going to say photographs taken with the camera you already own and transferred to your computer make great souvenirs. However, I'm wearing a hooded sweatshirt from my last trip right now! It's in great shape for being three years old. This one never goes outside.

My DS's (4) favorite would be the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards/Map. He still plays with them at home and our trip was in August. They were free at the Magic Kingdom.
Donna

This! Who doesn't love free! My DS7's favorite souvenir and also for DS2.5 who didn't even go. We purchased a small card book (4 cards/page) from Hobby Lobby for a couple of books to hold them. Even if you don't play...pick them up, they're free!

DD19 always loved getting pressed pennies when she was little. We have them in a folder/booklet, and occasionally we will look at them when we are having a "remember when" time. Other decent souvenirs were silver charms from the outlet store. DD has a charm bracelet with all kinds of Disney characters, including Cinderella's coach and a bunch of villains. We paid about $3 each for the charms, over several trips. We'd go to the outlets just to look for charms. She has also always enjoyed doing Pick-a-Pearl, although we had them set back here at home for a fraction of the prices the Japanese Pavilion charges.

I wear my Disney apron pretty frequently, but MY favorite souvenir is my Mickey cutting board from POP Century. It's one of the flexible ones, so weighed hardly anything and took up even less space in the suitcase! It has different neon/brightly colored circles on it with Mickey heads. I use it several times a week! Of course, I love to use my Disney mugs every day for coffee, although I use my resort specific mugs far more often than the generic mugs they now sell.

the cute antenna toppers! I love mine, it makes me happy every time I need to find my car (which happens a lot!). Inexpensive and gets lots of use! I only bought one last time because I wasn't too sure but I will get a few next time so I can change them up now and then :)

Last trip I bought a car decal that says "my other car is a monorail". Best cheap souvenir I ever bought.

I LOVED my Captain Mickey one from our Disney Cruise but some moron stole it & replaced it with a "Kenny" from South Park one. I was ready to commit murder when I saw it!

The free art class in Hollywood studios at animation academy - step by step instructions to draw a Disney character. Take it home and frame it! We drew Carl from Up. Looks great and brings back great memories!

And if you ask, the instructor will give you his or her drawing (which was MUCH better than mine!). I have one of Minnie Mouse smiling at my from the wall beside my computer right now, and I gave the one I was given of Stitch to my grandson a couple of years ago. Free, and really a great souvenir!

One of my favourite souvenirs is a bathrobe with the Hollywood Hotel logo on it. My son gave it to me as a Christmas gift. Practical, but a great reminder of a very cool ride.

Each time I go to Epcot, I check out the pottery in the Japan pavilion store. (I LOVE that store!) I often buy one or two of the small bowls - they are quite inexpensive - and I use the ones in my collection all the time to set out candies, or dip for veggies, or other snacks or condiments.

I get a new coffee mug each trip. That's my souvenir. Now my DD10 and her four-year-old sister? They try to break me. How do you refuse a four-year-old saying, "Please, Uncle Thom... Please."

We did buy several posters at the Art of Disney and had them framed at Hobby Lobby, they look great! We have also gotten several Thomas Kinkade canvas's (peter pan and beauty) I wish we would have gotten Snow White, I love that one, but we didn't get into them until the next year.

The best cheap souvenir I have found is the glass tankard at Liberty Tree Tavern for $5. I try and pick one up every time I visit. You do not have to dine there to purchase it. Just go up to the desk in the lobby and tell them you want to purchase the tankard. The tankard is standard size and has the Liberty Tree Tavern name and Mickey, Goofy and Donald as Revolutionary characters.
My other favorite souvenir is the $5 mugs you purchase in the parks that come with a drink. Each park has a different scene and there are often special mugs geared towards the holidays. The mugs are available at certain kiosks and popcorn stands throughout the parks. These mugs are different from the refillable mugs you can purchase at the hotels. They are basically the same size but feature scenes from the parks and are not refillable.

I regret not buying one of these so will be getting one in a couple of weeks when we go back.

Christmas ornaments are the only souvenir I buy now, unless you count my pressed penny collection.

I sort through my pennies and save all the pre-1982 ones. I clean and polish them so I have all shiny copper pennies to press.

I bought a pink silk robe from Japan six years ago and still wear it. It still looks brand new. It wasn't cheap, but I've gotten tons of use out of it. We also picked up hand-carved walking sticks from the African carving station at Epcot. They make great decorations in our living room a decade later. You're not going to find those at Pier 1.

I second the xmas ornaments. I use a sharpie to write the year on the back of the ornament so that years later I'll still know when each was purchased and in which park.

The Potato Head parts from the toy store in DTD. Learned on the Dis to buy a regular Potato Head at home - not at that store. Then use the box to stuff in as many accessory pieces as you can for $19 :thumbsup2 Made a great Xmas gift for DS!

I bought a purse that was about $30. I use it every single day and have got tons of compliments on it. I think it was a great value especially because I use it so much.

what!?!:rotfl2: something new to look for on my next trip...:thumbsup2

Oh yeah..... one year I bought a cute black purse covered in 'hidden mickeys' for 9.99 on clearance,I love that little purse, and a mickey parks watch for 5.99 on clearance..... and one year when we went to the sci-fi restaurant, our waiter gave us glow in the dark drinking cups full of popcorn, they had lids and and a straw....I still have those cups, they glow so bright!

If you enjoy collecting a good free souvenier idea is to collect the gift cards from the shops around Disney. We have a book with the pages made for baseball cards and have a large free collection of Disney gift cards. Many are themed for different times of year.

I started collecting shot glasses from our recent trips. Not something we use every day, but it is interesting conversation pieces when we have people over.

I can't stand junk and we were getting too many coffee mugs in the cupboard! So a shot glass and/or Christmas ornament is all I usually buy on trips.
