At first my family was planning on staying at a moderate resort again, but it looks like because of budget constraints, we'll be staying at a value this time around, and I was wondering what you fellow dis-ers thought would be the best resort for our family.

We are a family of four, me (i'm 13), my eight-year-old sister, and my parents.
The last resort we stayed at was Coronado Springs, which we thought was beautiful, but felt that it was too spread out for our taste.
But anyway, we love music, movies, pop culture and sports, which is what's making this such a difficult decision.

I would really appreciate a vote for which resort you think would be better suited for us, and I would really, really appreciate a comment explaining why you think that :)

Also, on another note, in your opinion, do you think that we would be disappointed with a value resort after having stayed at a moderate?

Thanks ! :)

I will add my two cents here...we are DVC members and when we dont use our points we always stay at POP. We love it. it is the newest, largest, and cleanest in our opinion. We have stayed at all of the values and POP rates our highest.

I said ASMo because all of my children have always found this to be their fav. value. Either way you are in Disney and you will have a blast.

Pop - because both you and your parents have something to look at and remember.

Pop is a little better organized that the All stars - my opinion.

has 3 pools (all star only 2pools - although they are so close together you could visit all 6)

don't like preferred. Only like standard. standard view at Pop will give you a view of the lake.

then you could tell your little sister ghost stories about the building across the lake....:grouphug:

I just stayed at All-Star Music in August. It was really great. It felt new. The grounds are very nice and ALL the rooms are refurbished. We even stayed all the way in the back in Country Fair. But it was no more than a 5 minute walk to the bus stops. The food court had a great selection too. The pools, were pools. No slides or anything, just music shapes (piano and guitar).

We like the values over the mods, because we just didnt see the extra value in the extra money of the mods, so I wouldnt worry about it at all.

IMHO, the values are all about the themeing. Does the ASMovies have a wing with your favorite Disney movie? Do you play a sport that over at the ASSports? Are you into music? Pop Culture?

Pop is a really fun resort! We've stayed there 3 out of 4 trips and are going back to Pop in 25 days. The resort is alot of fun with alot of really cool theming. I think you all would have a really fun time there.

I voted for Sports. I haven't been there yet, but am going to be there in early December. I let my BF pick the hotel (since it was my idea to go) and he loves sports. If you really can't decide, you can put all 4 names in a hat and pick one.

I voted POP, my DD10 and I loved it. THere is a nice lake with sitting areas....ducks come by your door...great gift shop and food court! 3 pools...great bus service...I liked the pool area by the 60's the best (where we stayed, lakeside)....felt like a resort in this area!
Have fun deciding!

I voted Pop. I haven't been to any of the All-Stars, but my sister and I went there last May and are staying there again when we go back this May. We loved the theme and the bus system was great we never really had a wait. The food court was good, it was food court food but at 19 and 22 that's what we love when we go on vacation. It was new and clean and we enjoyed our trip, but whatever you choose I'm sure you'll love.

As you can see by my sig, I voted Pop Century. I have never had any problems staying there and each stay was a wonderful experience. :hippie:

Also, on another note, in your opinion, do you think that we would be disappointed with a value resort after having stayed at a moderate?

I think the first trip after a deluxe is hard because you don't walk into that beautiful lobby each time. That is about all we missed. But that is not so hard going from a mod to a value. I think you would love POP Century. I would request no connecting door.(too noisy!)

We've stayed at moderates, deluxes and Pop; Pop is my DD13's favorite resort. She and I have stayed there twice and really like it. The theming is has something for everyone in your group.

The food court is quite good. There is a slushie machine in the food court and that is something my DD loves. They also make yummy sundaes.

In my experience, Pop has the BEST transportation of any of the resorts we've stayed at. Very efficient. Even when the lines get really long -- like say after Wishes or Illuminations -- Disney Transpo does a great job by loading 2 buses at a time.

The room might feel a little small to your parents. The value rooms are definitely smaller than the moderate rooms. Also, there is no curtain to separate off the sink area like at the moderates. You might consider bringing a tension rod and a curtain for some privacy. I know how 13 year old young women are about privacy!!!

Also, I agree with a prior poster -- don't get a preferred room. The standards are just fine and often quieter. The distance from the main building to the rooms just isn't that much. DD13 timed it from our 50's section building -- behind the jukebox. I think the walk was like 2 minutes 4 seconds or something.

Enjoy your trip!
