I am planning our first WDW trip ever in May 2014. We know that our budget currently only allows for a Value Resort. So I would like to get everyones opinions on which one you think would be the best for an adult couple in their mid forties? Do not even know if that matters but just so you get an idea of our ages and so forth. We are looking at POP. Any thoughts? Will be booking next week once we tie up a few loose ends.

DH and I have stayed at Pop and ASMovies. He's stayed at ASMovies multiple times, before and after we were married in '04, and he has said that it's his favorite value but he wasn't impressed with Pop. The first time I stayed on property was at Pop and I thought it was just fine (shhh - don't tell him;)) and I actually liked their food court a bit better than ASMovies.

DH likes ASMovies theming better: it is a little more Disney. And the Sorcerer Mickey pool (or whatever the actual name of it is) is pretty cool.

Rooms are about the same, Pop was a little "nicer" but it's also slightly newer than ASMovies. When we stay at a value we generally have a different approach to the vacation, spending less time at the resort and more out and about.

Not sure if this is helpful or just a bit to much information. Hopefully it's the helpful.

I would stay at Pop because spring at WDW brings a lot of youth groups for various trips, events, tournaments, etc. and they usually stay at the All Stars.

We like POP because it is more centrally located to DHS, Epcot and DTD. And while the theming is not "All Disney, All the the Time", that may not be a bad thing for an adult couple. The theming is still very well done and fits the resort theme of "pop culture" from the 50's thru the 90's.

And the Art of Animation resort is a short stroll away if you need a Pixar fix.

Thanks! That is what we were worried about. We originally considered POR. I love the look and feel of it from what I read online but it seems that its not available, its a bit beyond our budget for this trip. Even though we stay at a Value can we still visit POR?

That is right up my husbands alley he loves the 50`s-70`s era so he will likely fit right in there. ;)

I would say POP. However, DH and I stayed at all of the values together before marriage and kids and enjoyed all of our stays. (Including All Star Sports for our honeymoon) :goodvibes

POP gets my vote. The theming is fun for all ages and goes through different decades. It also has dedicated bussing. Plus, the food court has a wide variety and you can walk over to the AoA food court as well (seems to have some more unique items). The lake is very pretty that connects the two resorts and it would make for a nice walk in the early morning or at night.

My family has stayed there several times and we've always enjoyed the resort.

Congrats on your first WDW trip!!!

It seems the general consensus for the most part here thus far is POP so I feel confident we made the right choice. Thanks everyone! :thumbsup2

Be sure to request a king room. Not only do you get a nice big bed, but you end up with a lot more useable floor space and the room just feels a lot bigger.

We had one of these, ground floor, in the 50's overlooking the lake. It was perfect! We love the ducks, turtles, and bunnies that were right outside our room.

Unlike most other resorts at Disney, a King room is not a bookable category, just a request. Yet, there is no additional charge for a King room, or a water view. If you can get both rolled into one it feels like an amazing perk that Disney handed out for free.

Many of the King rooms are Wheelchair friendly with roll in showers, but not all.

Have a wonderful trip!
