seasonal allergy sufferer and dog hair.......we have 2 Golden Retreivers and boy do they shed......any advice will be greatly apprecatiated! TIA!

If you dont' want to pay the dyson prices, I have a Bissell Healthy Home and LOVE IT!

We dumped our Kirby for a re-furb Dyson and love it. Also had an Oreck we use on occasion but we use the Dyson exclusively now.

We have a cat and a Labrador Retriever. I find the easiest is to run my Roomba every day and vacuum with a regular vacuum cleaner once per week. It REALLY helps with the fur balls! It also picks up most of the fur while I am not home, cutting down on the amount of "stuff" kicked up into the air while I am breathing it.

Hated my Dyson. Went through two of them after the first one was in the shop four times and they finally gave me a new one - which was just as bad.

Love my Oreck, but it isn't great for dog hair. With dogs having a good hose is important.

Adore my Meile - but its a very expensive vaccuum.

We have a Dyson, and that works really well for our super-sheddy dog. In addition, I have a dustbuster that I use for the occasional clumps and in the nooks and crannies where the vacuum won't reach (good for a quick clean).

Another thing that has helped tremendously is the Furminator. It's not a vacuum, but if I furminate the dog once every three weeks (four is starting to strectch it), it really helps cut down on the shedding.

I love my Dyson. I vacuumed with my old vcum then used the dyson in the same place it sucked up so much more pet hair that the other vacuum missed.

Not exactly what you were asking- but if you have never actually been tested for allergies (and you health insurance will pay for it) you might want to do that. I was suffering all spring/summer, and assumed I was allergic to my cat. I got allergy tested- I am allergic to oak trees and birch trees- and that's it! (which only pollinate in April and May). The doctor thought I had a sinus infection and acid reflux (I kid you not), I am almost done with a 14 day course of antibiotics, and omeprazole daily, and I am a new person. (I'm sure you want a good vacuum, either way- I have an ORECK which is pricey but I like, and I read they now have them with the hepa filter).
