I just got back from a week at Aulani. It was awesome. Not overtly Disney themed, but enough Dis touches to make it feel like "home." I have been so disenchanted with WDW in recent years that I had my doubts whether I'd like Aulani. I didn't like it; I loved it. Such a beautiful resort and exceptional hospitality. If not for the incredibly, horribly, painfully lengthy flights to get there and back, I'd sell my SSR points and buy Aulani. Alas, it's not a good fit for an east coast resident.

We too are east coasters. We are headed there in Sept. for the 1st time ever to Hawaii and cannot wait!! So glad you enjoyed, this gets me even more excited:yay:

Love it too. Heading back in January for my second trip. Working on a trip in 2019 with both my DD's and their families but my youngest is not feeling it with the flight and what will be a 3 and 6 year old. Do you have a nonstop option? If so I would go that route and take a Benadryl, might help.

It's amazing. I liked Aulani far more than I expected to. I hope you enjoy it, too.

We took our first DVC trip to Aulani and fell in love with it. This year we are using our points at the Poly in late July/August. It is our first summer trip to WDW and we are very concerned about the weather and crowds. Since our DD is in Jr High & can no longer miss enough school for a WDW trip we are forced to take a summer trip. My DH thinks we should use our points at Aulani until she graduates. I am so happy we have this flexibility with our points and I love this board. I learn new ways to make our trips memorable or more affordable. Like for example, I read someone flies Southwest to Oakland, CA and then takes a flight to HNL. I priced this out and it saves us 1/2 the cost of what we paid last year since we have lots of Southwest Points.

We bought DVC after 8 WDW trips and because we loved going, I never thought we would ever prefer to use our points at Aulani. The only reason we decided to use our first points @ Aulani was because it was our 20th Anniversary, we had no idea we were going to start a whole new love affair with Aulani.

Thanks for the report. I have not yet visited Aulani, but did an exchange for the Marriott at Kolina about 10 years ago before Aulani was built. Nice area, a little remote to the city and main attractions, but great trip. Looking forward to going to Aulani sometime in the near future.

my big problem don't know if I can be in a plane for 9 to 12 hours - that is way too much for me.

Long flight, yes, but we love Aulani and are going there in February for our second visit.
