Last year I saw everyone carrying around those giant smoked turkey legs which looked delicious and for some reason I never got around to trying one of them. It is on my must do list this year. Where is the best place to get one, I know I saw them in MK and MGM--are they available at all of the parks or even at the resorts. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

it's funny you mentioned this because 2 years ago when we were last there we ate them and they were the big talk on aol's message boards, now looking thru these boards no-one has mentioned them...Do they still sell them I wonder????they are good just wish I knew what kind of turkey it is,because it looks like it's on steroids :rotfl2:

It's funny to say that we have been to WDW for almost 18 yrs now(DH, Me, DS(14)) We have never try turkey-leg until 6 yrs ago( I have to admit that it does look very intimidating in the beginning) It has become a MUST-DO for us. The turkey leg is great to share among family(we would take turns tearing it apart!!)

You can find them at AK, MK, MGM, and the waterpark too (not so sure about Epcot)

Buy one and try to see if like it!!

That's the first thing that came to my mind, too - when we went in 2004 I had read so much about those legs on the passporter boards, and now I see nothing. We had one in Frontierland in MK - delicious! Me and dh split one - they really are huge.

We buy turkey legs at MGM, because the cs is so weak there. They sell them at Toluga Turkey Legs, right down the street from Tower of Terror and Rock-n-Rollercoaster. The meat actually tastes more like smoked ham than turkey. They are on the DDP.

We (DH and I) split one during MVMCP in 2004. Delish! It definetly tasted mored like ham then turkey though, the meat was definetly pinkish like ham, not white like turkey. Anyway, we got ours at the cart in Frontierland right in front of the Country Bear Jamboree. Not sure if they are there all the time or not.

My brother and I got one at Epcot last September so they are at Epcot. THey are very good (and I am not a fan of turkey).

We always get our legs at AK! DH and DS get their own DD and I share..They are so yummy! To me they taste like baked ham!

The "turkey" legs are quite good... However, a friend that works at disney told me that they are NOT turkey... they are EMU... an australian bird, a relative of the ostrich and are farmed for their meat. Either way they are tasty.

If advertised as turkey legs and they are not in fact turkey would that not be false advertising? I have had EMU and it tasted fine. So if they are EMU (which I am not saying they are) why not just say EMU legs instead fo turkey legs?

Are you sure they are on the DDP? I hope so, I had planned on grabbing a turkey leg (and hot dogs for the kids) at Toluca just before Fantasmic, but when I looked at the list of CSs at MGM, I didn't see it listed. :confused3

ETA: My mistake! I just found TTL on the list of DDP participants, I guess maybe I was looking at an old one? The brochure has it listed under both Quick Meals (CS) and Snacks. Now I'm looking at the menu on AllEars, and I don't see any desserts listed at all (unless they consider the Potato Chips dessert? I wonder what you would get for a CS credit?

I only get one every trip, and that's where I get mine too. We switch off between adults riding Tot and RnR, that it helps pass the time.

the turkey legs come from specially grown 40 lb. turkeys. I saw it on a travel channel show. In tommorrowland they used to call them galactic gobblers.

I will find out for sure tomorrow. But, they are turkey legs and Perdue supplies them. I know someone who is in the know and left a message for her at work. They are so yummy.

We have yet to actually get one, but we talk about doing it every trip. It is on our to-do-list again for our August trip! Maybe this time we actually will try one. They do sound good. :cool1:

I do hope they really are turkey though.

Lol they are NOT emu.
#1 emu are too expensive
#2 they are the
Largest bird inhabiting Australia (5.7 feet tall, 110-120 pounds in weight)
#3 that would be one big leg
#4 imagine the number of lawsuits from the back pain caused by carring one around while eation :Pinkbounc
