This is my first trip with children.
We will be going in Oct. and I am selecting my TS meals. We have a 4yr old DD and 1 yr DS. Where should I take them?:confused3
I already have Norway dinner.

Thanks for everyones help!!

meals. That's one way to keep their attention when away from the parks. It also an easy way to see characters, but it does come at a cost.

Askerhaus will give your daughter a chance to see a number of princesses. Crystal Palace is a good choice. The characters are from Pooh and the food is better than most buffets. Chef Mickey's has the classic characters; Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy in one place. Cape May and Tusker House have similar cast of characters if CM is hard to get. One that 'm not familiar with is the breakfast and lunch at Hollywood and Vine. It has Disney TV characters from shows like Little Einsteins and Jo Jo.

A couple of non character TSs that may work are Whispering canyon Cafe and Biergarten. WCC has a lot of antics at breakfast and lunch and the Wilderness Lodge is interesting to tour. Biergarten has a band and a dance floor that usually has several kids dancing away to the polka style music. The adult buffet is German but there is a normal kids buffet.

We were there with our 1, 3 & 5 year olds and they loved the characters. Chef Mickey was about their favorite. Of cource our 3 yr old girl loved Cinderella's Royal Table.

Thanks for the help!:thumbsup2

.

Does any one know more about the Hollywood and Vine?

We went to Hollywood & Vine for a late breakfast last October, when DD was 2 1/2. Characters were JoJo & Goliath and two of the Little Einsteins (June and Leo). We got lots of table time with all of them, except for Leo (but we did catch him for a siggy on our way out). Every 15 or 20 minutes they invite everyone to get out of their seats and join the characters in the middle of the restaurant for a quick little dance party. DD loved it, and actually I think my ILs who didn't even know the Playhouse Disney characters loved it the most.

At almost-3, DD also really loved our lunch at the Coral Reef restaurant. We were seated right up at the glass, and DD would squeal with delight every time a shark swam past.

Last trip we were with two other kids who were afraid of characters so we stayed away from character meals - next trip we're hitting the Norway Dinner and Crystal Palace breakfast, plus we're going back to Coral Reef.

Hollywood and Vine dinner is not bad for a buffet.....the kids would have alot of choices. We loved going to Crystal Palace with Pooh, Eeyore, Tiger and Piglet......the food was great too....we did the dinner there too....I think because of the ages of your kiddos they would like not have to wait to long for food to appear.......buffets usually keep them going...

Nothing wrong with characters, but if you need a break from the characters some nice family friendly places that don't have characters are 'Ohana, WCC, Teppan Edo, Biergarten, San Angel Inn, and Coral Reef. Each of these locations have something to amuse the kids.

What is a good TS meal to do that is NOT in a park? Maybe at a DTD or a resort. We have a 4 and 1 year old.
We are going this OCT.
TIA

Rainforest Cafe is in DTD and is always good. They also have Planet Hollywood.

One of my families favorites at the MK is The Plaza Restaurant. It isn't that expensive and they serve burgers, ruebens, other deli sandwiches and salads. We have eaten there w/ kids under the age of 4. It is a nice change. It isn't that big so you rarely can ever just walk up and be seated, you will need reservations.

My 4 year old favorites were Coral Reef (request a table near the aquarium), Whispering Canyon (he wanted ketchup), and Crystal Palace (great food and character interaction). He wasn't too interested in our dinner at CRT...we had a table up to the side...window view would have been better. We were not impressed at 50's and were so disappointed at the Tusker House Breakfast....let's just say don't make a late reservation (10:30 am) for breakfast!

My kids 23mo and almost 4 at the time loved Hollywood and Vine, Teppan Edo and Coral Reef.

The character interaction at HV is great, both my kids ran up to dance each time.

If you don't want to go to a park but want to entertain 4 and 1 year old I would suggest Chef Mickey (CR), WCC (WL), Cape May (BCR) and there is a character meal at Poly featuring Lilo and Stitch, I think it's Kona's.

If you go to DTD you might try the Rainforest Cafe.

We just got back and bothof our kids loved WCC at wilderness lodge. The loud environmetn for a loud 1 year old. TONS of food and great entertainment! Thanks.
My daughter loved Sci-fi dine in, princess dinner at Norway, and crystal palace was great!
