Best Timeshare Resort?

Here's our rating based on where we've stayed:

Sheraton Vistana Resort: B-
Orange Lake CC: C-
HGVC Seaworld: A-
Sheraton Vistana Villages: B+
Marriott Cypress harbor: A

We've toured:

Marriott Horizons: Looked nice, smaller rooms, too close to Rt 4
Marriott Grande Vista: Nice place

The new HGVC I-drive looks very nice.

I'm not sure where we'll end up in 2006 yet.

While I disagree with Jeff's ratings, it does illustrate that perhaps a little more information about what you are looking for might lead to some narrower options and make your trip more enjoyable. Different people are looking for different things and may rate a place lower or higher depending on whether these items are met or not. For example, I own at Orange Lake, it has multiple activities but it is built around a golf theme and so it is spread out. This appeals to me, even though I don't play golf, but it does not to others. Others may prefer a setting where the areas may be built around a pool or activities buildings (such as Vistana Resort). So think of the theming that you like. Orlando is blessed with many nice timeshares, so I'm sure that you can find one that mets your needs and desires.

Gary, yes, one of the things we didn't like about OLCC was that it was so spread out. we had to get in the car to go anyplace at the resort which was very inconvenient. i also don't golf so that didn't appeal to me or my family. But there was more to my C- rating. i found the resort very dirty. We had a unit in the front off of 192. when we checked in there were bags of dirty laundry in front of the resort. the next morning they were still there. Our unit was good sized but was dirty. there were old socks from the previous user in the closet and many other cleanness issues. We had one of the worst meals I've ever had (breakfast) at the restaurant there. And i didn't like the location, all the way down on 192. It wasn't that bad, pools were nice, we played tennis regularly, drove to the driving range and hit some balls. Security was good, night golfing would have been interesting. But we were there for a week and compared to the many other timeshares we have stayed at OLCC gets a C- in our book. IMHO.

Just returned from Orange Lake. Not very impressed. The resort is so spread out. It doesn't have the modern conveniences we look for such as in room internet, premium TV channnels, whirlpool tub, etc. Not really a gold crown IMHO.

We love Orange Lake CC. Have stayed there many times and have always had a very clean, freshly done villa. It definitely is very spread out, but this was never a problem for us. We liked the quiet after a busy day at WDW. That said, we also very much like Sheraton Vistana Resort, but had the "not so clean" room that Jeff experienced at OLCC!! Wouldn't stop me from going back there, though. Both are on my "A" list.

I am a member of the list that enjoys Orange Lake, but it is a very different style of a resort than most timeshares. I think it appeals most to those who like to get away from it all. The villas on the outside are unimpressive, almost drab, but are nice inside. What we like the most is that all the villas we have stayed in are spaced far enough apart that we have never had any issues with noisy neighbors, and you have NO ONE on top of you.

The resort is spread out, so you have to drive to the pool, but the pool is very nice. I enjoy the grounds and the quite, relaxed feel. It reminds me of the difference between a tourist place, and a local place, if that makes any since? Just more relaxed. We enjoy staying in a villa facing the lake. In the mornings we drink coffee and feed the large Egret looking birds that will come up on the patio.

Hi, we own a timeshare with Hilton, our home resort is Seaworld, but we have stayed in both, Seaworld and the new one on International Drive. We stayed at the one on International Drive last November, it is very nice, but a lot of it wasn't finished, and we got a room right next door to the building they were working on. We were gone during the day so that never really bothered us. They probably have it finished by now. The one that is across from Sea World is also very nice, and they have a lot of family things to do. They have a kids club that my grandchildren loved!!! There is a small cost involved if they want to do crafts, but it is only a couple of dollars and they had a blast. The counselors called us when they were finished, and we went and got them. They were there for about two hours and made several crafts each, and I think we only gave them $5.00 each. (they were 6 & 7 at the time). They also have movies most nights, bingo, and some pool games. There is almost always something going on if you want to spend some time at the resort. There are several pools, so none of them are very crowded. There is an enclosed balcony that was a great place to sit and relax after everyone had turned in for the night. There is a washer and dryer, fully stocked kitchen, and a big screen TV. (we usually stay in the two bedroom).
It has always been very clean. I would recommend either one of the Hiltons.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!!
Hope this helps. :earsgirl:
