Best time to visit in November ?

We want to avoid Hurricane Season
We do not mind limited extra hours
Avoiding Halloween crowds
No offense to NJ student families - but there may be more families at WDW from NJ the week of Monday 27 October to Friday 31 October (last week of October I think NJ schools have a fall break)

NO now -> With that said what about the 2nd to 3rd week of October ?

Now Considering -> 1st and 2nd week of November
So how is the 1st and 2nd week of November?
Free dining this year is 11/9/14 – 11/20/14

Is the weather great ?
Less Rain?

Less crowds in the Parks?

We always go the 2nd or 3rd week of Oct - it's a great time to go. Will still have some volume from the F&W and alot of UK schools have fall break but it's still very manageable. The weather for us over the past 17 years during this time has been amazing - no mentionable rain, no major storms, and warm temps in the 80s with the occasional 90 degree day here and there.

Wilma hit South Florida on October 24, 2005. Hurricane season ends November 30th. Please remember though hurricanes can hit Florida and sometimes it feels they hit often they are still rare. As soon as Wilma blew through Ft Lauderdale I was calling Disney and hauling our butts out of town. We spent 4 wonderful days in Disney. So many others did as I did. You could tell by the cars, all covered by debris (grass, leaves) mine looked the same lol. What was also nice is a cold front came through right after and it was nice cool weather. We did 2 MNSSHP (back then it was $35) my daughter was 12 at the time and all the candy we brought back she gave to her neighborhood friends and my niece and nephews. Halloween was canceled and kids were out of school for 2 weeks.

So don't be afraid. The height of Hurricane season is august to sept.

October is Hurricane Season so it will rain a bit on many/most afternoons but the weather is very warm and humid. Crowds will be moderate, not low, with F & W and MNSSHP going on the whole month. October was a slow time, years ago, but with all the extra activities they now have it really is more of a moderate time all month. Lowest times will be January and September, excluding the holiday weekends.

Avoiding Halloween crowds will not be a problem as they are generally moderate. Even a sold-out MNSSHP isn't that crowded. THe crowds are going to be fairly consistent all month, though I don't find them much to worry about.

I've spent many October days in WDW.
10/1-10/9 2009 - super hot and humid, no rain.
10/18-10/25 2013 - warm; one short, afternoon rain shower.
We're headed back this Oct, 10/16-10/24

I think Jersey week is the first week in November, not the last week in October. So, I think a last week in October vacation would work great for you.

At least, it did for us.

A lot of schools have fall break the second and third weeks in October. I heard horror stories regarding those weeks. Our family went the last week, and many of the rides were walk-ons. Most of the headliners had minimal waits (maybe a half hour). The only ride I didn't get on was Soarin, and that's because we wanted to take a mid-afternoon break, and by the time we got to Soarin, the only Fasspass times available was mid-afternoon. (Offsite, no FP+.)

Weather was nice, and it only rained one day. Late enough so the chances of hurricanes were slim.

I'd seriously consider last week in October.

First trip to Disney but we are coming the week of Oct 19th. I did lots of research and it seemed like a great time to come with respect to crowds, heat, rain, etc. The crowd level is marked as low (not lowest but low) and the weekend before on the 12th is the Canadian long weekend (which may bump crowds a touch).

As a note, free dining has a black out period of Oct 4th - 25th so if you're counting on it, you should book before the 3rd or after 25th. I'm bummed that we missed free dining, but am hoping it'll have a positive effect on the crowds.

Also, if you are not interested in the Halloween or Christmas party events, note that Magic Kingdom will close at 7pm on those nights so you will need to leave if you don't have a ticket.

We went 1st October to 22nd October last year and had a couple of days of rain but nothing major. No storms and no hurricanes.

No idea if crowds were bad or not as I have only been in October.

Hurricane season technically lasts until the end of November. The later you go, the less chance of encountering bad weather.

Limited extra hours are a non issue for you- that is good.

In my opinion, unless you want to attend a MNSSHP during Halloween week, there really is no uptick in general crowd levels, resort-wide, during the last week of October.

As another poster stated, Jersey Week is usually the first full week of November. If you want to avoid NJ crowds, you are okay in October.

2nd and 3rd weeks of October can be quite crowded due to many school systems (especially in the south, closer to WDW) having weeklong Fall Breaks then.

Weather gets better the later you go in October, generally speaking. Better, meaning cooler, less humid, and less chance of rain or hurricanes.

My recommendation would be the last full week of October- 26th through Nov 1. Second best would be the week before that- 10/19 through 10/25.

I would go either the first week of October or the last week. The middle weeks seem to be busier because of Columbus Days and school breaks.

Disney only offers Free Dining during times that NEED Free Dining to help bump hotel occupancy. The fact that it is blacked out from most of October means those weeks will be more crowded, and Disney doesn't need Free Dining to get "heads in beds".

This is not to say that the parks will be miserably crowded during your trip- just that most of October is no longer considered one of the very slowest times of the year.

Just wanted to add that although the crowd levels have increased over the years, the middle two weeks of Oct I have found to be very manageable. The headliner rides will still have waits of an hour or so during peak times of day but otherwise we have had no issues riding everything we had on our list.

Not sure is WDW offers free dining - it would be a plus for us.

I would still book our WDW vacation at least 9 months in advance - and if we get free dining, so be it.

Maybe resort rates are better in mid-November - It would be Fall rates, a little less than Regular and a lot less than Peak.

We could get the CBR for $221/night preferred room, CSR for $181/night, POFQ for $181/night, Dolphin for $215/night AAA rate, Hilton DTD for $123/night AAA rate.

I would choose this over October. We live in the Disney area and October used to be my favorite month crowd wise to go, now so many schools have fall break (us included, 3rd week of October) and it is a busy month.

Good point. Guess I was hoping for a positive side of missing out on free dining Funny thing is, we picked the week of the 19th based on the crowd predictors (but a balance with not super hot weather)...which I guess are not quite so accurate anymore.

You most likely will not get free dining if you go then. It is Jersey Week during those dates you mentioned. NJ doesn't have a fall break in october, it is definitely the beginning of November and then you have the wine and dine marathon right there too so its still pretty crowded but not holiday crowded. I think the last week of October is a great time to go, from what I've heard.

We've been twice as a family, and both times we went the week before the week of Thanksgiving. VERY low crowds! The Christmas decorations are up and twinkling. We had good weather - it was warm enough to go to the water parks *at least* one day out of the 7. It would be a little cool at night on some days. We were pretty fortunate that we didn't have but one rainy day! So, if you can swing it, I highly recommend.
