We're staying at OKW OCt. 12-17th . I know "official" check in isn't until 4pm, but we will be at a park at that time so.... we have several things we could do. We can either get up and out and check in OKW about 7:30am or go to breakfast- and check in about 8:30am. There's also the possibility of checking in between 10-10:30 am or waiting until we get back from the parks about 9pm. What would be the best of these times to check in? Any suggestions?

Is that the best way to get your requests filled? If the room is not immediately available, will they let you choose from what will become available throughout the day?

if your room is not ready - they will show the rooms that are ready (if any) - and yes your chances of getting your request are better if you check-in early.

Sorry about all the questions- but..... if htere are no rooms available for the building/ buildings we want to stay in- do I have to come back and check in later?

Go before you eat. If your room is not ready, you will get your IDs and a phone number to call later to get the room number. Being Sunday, there will most likely have a room ready. It may not be exectly what you asked for, but then you can decide if it will work for you.

Have a great trip :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

Don't quote me on this, but I know one time with us, they let us check in, and then call back later for a specific villa assignment---assuming those rooms are due to be vacated that day. Otherwise, you could go with your second choice if you wanted your room assignment right there.

Thanks everybody- I really appreciate all the insights to this! Being a newbie is very confusing sometimes- but equally exciting! I can hardly wait to hear "Welcome Home" from OKW!

Sorry, I couldn't resist!! We'll be checking in tomorrow - Yipee

I'll write a report when we return

So long for now - off to see Mickey, Minnie, Tigger, Pooh and the gang

Hvae a great stay! maybe we'll see ya there! Got your lime green Mickey heads ready?

My check-in experience on Sat 20Sept - got there about 12:30 (lunchtime), there were about 3 groups in front of us. Still in line at 1pm, still in line at 1:15 - at that stage they came round with the lunch menu for Oliva's. Finally checked in just after that. We had no preferences down, but asked for non-smoking and water views, told, "yes, we can manage both of those". Go to unit, non-smoking, yes, water view - had a lovely view of the main road outside the resort, no water in sight. By this stage we were just glad to be somewhere and considering there were about 8 familes queued up for check in when we left reception, thought there wasn't much point asking what happened to the water view.

Cola,
When you checked-in and they gave you the room assignment, did they show you the location on the resort map ? I know this happened in July '02 with us at OKW and saw the location they were about to give us wasn't near water. I asked if they ,by chance ,had a non-smoking water view instead, and they said, "oh yes....", and put us in blding 43. This was a terrific location.

With no preferences down, I would've been quite OK about no water views, it was just that I felt let down being told we could have the view and then find we didn't.

We were in bld 38 - one side has water/golf views, the middle looks like it might have partial water views and the side we were on, 3837, had a view of Bonnet Creek Parkway (through some trees, but you could hear and see the cars/buses with no problem at all). When we were shown the location on the map, I just assumed we were on the side with the water since the CM said we could have water views. We ending up spending no time on the balcony, but if it had been a better aspect, we probably would've.

That's a shame cola......I looked at the OKW map and I see what you mean. Maybe next time request specific buildings ? If your first priority is to be near HH, ask for buildings 62, 23, or 11-14 ? If water view (and being further away from the busses) is what you want, ask for #'s 45, 46, 55, 43, 33, 36 for a few examples. Hope you get what you want next visit !

In exactly two weeks we will be basking in the magic of Disney!

I actually called in a couple of preferences. Non-smoking, specific buildings (listed three), and the fact that we will be arriving early (7am) so that we can check in early.

Member services mentioned that they could not guarantee that they'd have something ready for us at 7am, but be sure and go early because you want to get your 'proof' that you are staying at a Disney resort in the even that you want to take advantage of the "Early Entry" feature at the parks.

We're arriving on a Thursday, so we'll have the Magic Kingdom lined up for "Early Entry" and that'll help a great deal with getting those Fantasyland attractions that always seem to get so packed with folks out the way.

Have a great trip! :bounce:

I know that we can't wait for our first trip home either! :hyper:

We checked into an OKW 1 BR in Sept at 8:30 and the room we had assigned wasn't ready but we took one upstairs and were completely moved in by 9:30. It was wonderful.

My parents checked into a studio the next day, Sunday, and it took about 15min at 7:00 and they got their room too.

Very cool!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I must be nuts, but I have never had a problem with the OKW check-in process. We check in when we get there, and if the villas is ready, fine, and if not, that's fine...we just get the room number later when we get back to the resort. I've always been generally pleased with our room and location. There's not a lot of bad spots at OKW, IMHO.

I think my last time I had a wait for check-in was because I had some requests. My request was non-smoking, ground floor and water view. I was firm on the ground floor/non-smoking because I was traveling with my mil is has cancer and is undergoing chemo treatments. I did get what I wanted, but couldn't check in until 5 pm. I'm sure, had I not had such specific requests, I could have gotten in sooner. But I wasn't complaining---it was the middle of the summer and OKW honored all my requests.
