Best time for universal?

Any idea when Spring Break will be for 2011. I'm sure it's different from here in Maryland.

Spring Break for the locals will be the last week of March and the first week of April.

The expected spring break for everyone else falls where Easter lies, so the last week of April is projected to be busy.

What about the last week in Aug? I looked at the times of park operation and they seem to close much earlier in the last two weeks of Aug.
We did Disney a few years ago around Labor Day and the parks were not crowded at all.

I was in Universal the last week of August and loved it. A walk on to every ride. I had purchased an express pass and hardly used it. I was just telling someone at work last night that one of the best trips I had in Orlando for crowd wise was the last week in August.

We were there the week of December 11th to the 18th and the park was nearly dead from the 11th to the 16th.

I think early December would be an excellent time to travel if you're looking for low crowds. Pros - Christmas decorations and events. Cons - it may be too cold to swim and if there's a storm your flight might get cancelled.

I agree - we have been just before and just after Labor Day in the past and we love it at that time.

We will be there 31st August, 1st, 2nd and 3rd September next year - looking to stay at HRH (our kids still off school).

Great, thanks!! I may look into staying off site then and not worry about the express pass. Saving the money...we could then hit Sea World!!

Here are the time we find the crowds to be lightest:
-First 2 weeks of January
-May is hit or miss.. it can be slow or very busy year to year
-Last 2 weeks of August
-September is the BEST!!! :thumbsup2
-First 2 weeks of December (but it has been getting busier the past few years)

I'd like to know how the crowds are early February as well...in particular, we are going on Superbowl Sunday (February 6). Will the crowds be fairly light?

In years past the crowds haven't been bad in February. This year WWoHP is bringing people in so it will be busier but still not too bad at all. I would say the crowds will be light to moderate...depending on which park and what you're trying to see.

How do you think it will be in between those two set of weeks?

How much does President's Day weekend (2/19-2/21) impact crowd levels? We are planning to visit IOA on the Monday or Tuesday (2/14 or 2/15) before that weekend.

The crowd level should be low to moderate.

Either day you're planning on going should be fine crowd wise.

Thank you! I was hoping that would be the case. This will be our first visit to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, so I didn't want to worry about large crowds too much.

I've never been to FL in the summer, never. Between the heat and the crowds, I've avoided it like the plague. In the past, I've loved late September, early December and even some days in the spring.

The kids are in middle and high school now so I'm a bit more hesitant to pull them out of school. School ends here June 2nd and am planning leaving that day for FL. I am thinking the heat won't be too bad early June and might in fact be perfect for lazy time at the pool and the water rides. BUT, how are the crowds early June??

TIA
