I discovered the Disboards in Spring 2001. I'll never forget how helpful everyone was in helping me as a Dis rookie to discover the wonders of "codes" and how to use early entry, etc.

I continue to visit these boards frequently and continue to receive great insights from all of you.

I've posted many threads, which, at last, brings me to my little informal survey. What's the best (most helpful, entertaining and/or engaging) thread you've either started or participated in since you discovered these boards?

On top of all the great lodging and touring advice, I would have to say the most helpful/entertaining thread to me was one that's been repeated many times I'm sure--how do you respond to friends/family who tease you about your recurring trips to WDW? Those quips really came in handy.

So anyway, I'm curious to get your sense of what you might call Dis thread "Classics."

I think the best thread ever start was the "post you picture of Disney food here" thread. I love that thread. It eventually became a "sticky" on the food board and can always be accessed their now. I still look at all of the updates and even took pics of my food on the last trip so I could contribute

This, apparently, isn't one of the "classic" threads.

Or perhaps it's just too late. I'll see if anyone chimes in tomorrow.

Later.

Oh man, there's one thread that came to mind immediately after reading your question! The "Have you ever had a shock" thread! It may not be what you would consider a "classic", but it has to be one of the most entertaining threads ever! :)

I really enjoy threads where people share the nice moments they experience at Disney. I think the one that I loved the most was written by a woman with an autistic child who had a rope they loved and carried everywhere, sort of like a security blanket. I can't remember the exact details but the child lost their beloved rope, it was discussed by the family, a cm must have overheard and a new rope was placed in their room while they were gone. Where else but Disney could that kind of customer service/magic happen? I just always enjoy those kinds of threads where people report back all the cool, special things that happen on a Disney vacation! They are so positive in a sometimes negative world. :)

Funniest comments you've overheard at WDW. This has got to be one of the funniest threads I have read. The things that people post on their are halarious (sp?) :lmao: :lmao:

I enjoy the Trivia threads as well as the funniest things overheard

I agree with the Shocking thread and the Funniest Comments thread....2 other threads really come to mind, one was a thread about the best ways to interact with the characters, which was hilarious and had some great ideas (I wish I could find this thread again)....the other thread is the Share Your Best Secrets thread which is just loaded with information...that can be found here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=311217

~Any of delswife's trip reports, which I don't believe are on the DISboards anymore but can be found here:
Trip Reports
and I hope I don't get in trouble for posting that! :scared:

~Monster Under My Drivers seat!!!!
Jim was tagged three times for that story!

Both hilarious! :lmao:

There's a few more...I just need to think for a bit :scratchin

debloco...thanks for the link to that story....it was hilarious! :lmao: :lmao:

The best thread for me was a trip report about Oct/Nov 05, I apologise as I cannot remember who the poster was, but it was great. It was a disney trip and cruise combined, and they were posting everyday with photo's and everything. people couldnt wait for the next day's installment...all I can remember is the guys name was Rob and he loved his ice cream :teeth:

All refillable mug threads are classics by their nature :drinking1 - I see a 'Can I use my old refillable mug?" title and it's time to grab the popcorn and put my feet up! :teeth:

Stevelamb121 - This is the trip report you are speaking of:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=935126

I would have to agree that it's one of the best all around trip reports I've ever read along with great pictures of Universal, WDW AND their Disney Cruise all rolled up into one. I "followed" the report with them EVERYDAY of the trip and it was sooo good. Really made us feel like we were there with them! Thanks Timon and Rob!!!

The Emu Leg Thread. :teeth:

Most people here probably won't remember it (it was years ago) but that was by far the funniest thread I have ever read. For those who do, the thought of Turkey Legs and Horizon's Octa-Emu Nutrient Solution brewed up for use in the 20K Leagues lagoon will forever be held in loving memory in our hearts. :rotfl:

Many DIS-ers became celebrities from that one topic. I wish we could bring it back as required reading on how misinformation can lead to gut-busting hilarity when no one takes themselves too seriously. :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed the "old" and "new" photo thread, I forget the official name of the thread. I am a sucker for nostalgia. :)

I second the motion that Vettechick99's trip reports are the best! Comedy!
One of my favorite threads was "What ride are you most embarrassed to admit you like?" I think that is probably because I learned that I am not the only dork that likes "Living with the Land."

My absolute favorite was a thread started by a lady who described herself as not too much on the small size being tricked into going down a slide at Typhoon Lagoon by her neice or nephew - she was pushed down backwards, her swimsuit top fell down from the force of the water and starting coming off, she stopped herself halfway down attempting to put her swimsuit back on, but unknowingly stopped by a lifeguard who kept announcing over a speaker for her to sit back down about the time the next rider came along and wiped them out. I had never laughed so hard in my life while reading her thread.

I also love the favorite pictures thread. It really gives me my Disney fix when I'm missing it really bad.
