Best Thanksgiving Dinner

Anyone have a favorite meal outside of the parks? No need for the typical turkey dinner. It will be for 2 adults and hoping for something fun after a long drive. Was planning Ohana and Wispering Canyon for later in the trip, but maybe those would be good alternatives?

We planned the Luau for our thanksgiving arrival night meal. WE really are traditionalists and like my Thanksgiving sides, so we decided to skip trying to replicate what we had at home and go as different as possible. We really did enjoy the Luau as a fun evening.

We have reservations at Narcoossee's for Thanksgiving night. I thought it might be a nice meal and a nice view!

We have enjoyed Narcoossee's before for Thanksgiving. Last year we did HDDR, which was amazing. If you can't get HDDR, I would suggest you look at Artist Point. We have eaten there before for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think this may be one of the better best kept secrets on property. The salmon there is amazing.

Many many moons ago we ate at Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club. It was a good meal but the thing that I dislike about going out for Thanksgiving is when it is a fixed plate. I prefer buffet like when you are eating at home. Captain's Grille was buffet. We travel mostly during Thanksgiving's week so since then, I don't try so hard to find the perfect restaurant. Usually when we get home, the following weekend I actually prepare a Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings and my family seems to like that a lot better. So, now we just aim for going somewhere we want to eat.

Boma was terrific this past Thanksgiving. The entire buffet was there, plus two extra stations with turkey or beef and all the sides. We ate at Trail's End in the past, and the thing I disliked was the removal of some of the regular stuff (mac and cheese, pizza) to make way for the turkey. That didn't happen at Boma.

We also really like the Thanksgiving brunch at Captain's Grille. We had an 11 am reservation, and had the breakfast buffet, made to order omelettes, and full turkey and the trimmings. Fantastic!

If you can't get HDDR and you want to save O'hana and WCC, I would consider dinner at one of the EP resorts (whichever appeals to you most). We had Christmas dinner at Trattoria al Forno in 2015 and we had such a great time. After dinner, we strolled the Boardwalk, watched the jugglers and magicians and played some carnival games. You can also rent a surrey bike, go play mini-golf at Fantasia, get a drink at AbracadaBAR, go to Atlantic Dance Hall or Jellyrolls. It's all within walking distance!

How many are looking for? There's availability for 4 for HDDR at the 8:30 show. Nothing for O'hana. If you don't get what you want, keep checking. We went last year also and I looked daily for Liberty Tree and saw many restaurants that weren't initially available pop back up.

How many in your party? You may want to set up a touring plans reservation finder. I searched several times for 'Ohana reservations and there's availability for parties of 2 and 3 for Thanksgiving dinner, but nothing came up for 4, 5, 6, or 7.

My TA got up this morning and couldn't get Boma. She does have a search function so she will continue to run a search, but she got Bona instead. Not a bad replacement!

We're a party of 16 heading to HDDR for Thanksgiving. We chose the 4:00 as we like a midday meal for the holiday. We'll finish up and head to MK in the evening.

So, is HDDR the Hoop-Dee-Do-Review? That's the only thing I can figure. From searching, it sounds like there are over 20 places that do a Thanksgiving meal. The Liberty Tree Tavern sounded really good too. If they say you can book up to 180 days out, what's the best way to go about that (calling vs internet)??

Sorry, I just saw this and the question above. Yes, HDDR is Hoop Dee Doo Revue. We made sure everyone was linked on MDE, then we booked online when it opened at 6 am EST. Easy peasy. We had purchased a gift card for gas rewards at Kroger to pay for the meal. We couldn't enter the gift card online, so I had to pay with credit card, then I called later and they refunded the credit card so I could use the gift card. If you're using a gift card, I would just wait and call, but if using a credit card, online was a breeze.
