My DH loves his red meat. We will be at WDW with a 2 y/o, 5 y/o, and 7 y/o. Is Yachtsman OK for the kids? Should we go to LeCellier? My DH was not impressed with our meals on our last WDW vacation so I want to make sure we go to the BEST steakhouse that is also kid friendly so he can enjoy his meal.

Yup! I like to know this too!

The best steak at WDW is at Shula's, without a doubt. Tender, juicy, flavorful, and the restaurant provides excellent service.

Second place would be Yachstman Steakhouse. Still tender, somewhat juicy, somewhat flavorful, and still excellent service.

From there it gets mirky: Many of the signature restaurants often have a good steak on their menu, though not much in terms of variety of cuts. Also, as you'd expect, the steaks are often prepared in a manner consistent with the specific cuisine of that restaurant. California Grill, Citricos, etc. I've read glowing reviews of steaks at Maya Grill, Flying Fish and Coral Reef as well.

Concourse Steakhouse is good, but just good; not great. Outback Steakhouse quality, let's say. Doesn't disappoint, but doesn't wow ya' either.

A lot of people like Le Cellier, but I have tried the place twice, and both times it was simply bad: Dry, grizzly steaks, and that's even after sending them back to the kitchen because the first steak was dry and grizzly. I'd steer clear of it.

My DH sounds like your husband and we went to a few steak places and this is what he liked best.

#1 - Shulas - I did not eat here, My DH went with his brother on our first trip in 2004. It is very expensive and I think they have a "casual business" dress code. I am sure your husband will love the place if you want to spend the money but I am not sure if it is a place to bring the kids. DH did love the steak and so did his brother.

#2 - Le Cellier - My family of 4, (Me, DH, kids were ages 9 and 7) went here last year and we all thought the place and the food was wonderful. Service was great too. It was our best meal of our 8 day trip. We were on the dining plan and we were very happy that this place was only 1 TS. We did not try Yachtmans Steakhouse because it was 2 TS so we went to Le Cellier, we were NOT disapointed. I think you should give it a try even though the above post is saying to stay clear of the place. If you look at the theread of which restaurants you would NOT miss on your next trip...most of them put Le cellier on their list. If it was that bad everybody would not be going back.

#3 - Concourse Steakhouse - My family of 4 also went to Concourse Steakhouse last year and we felt it was very good. Not as good as Le Cellier but a very close second to Le Cellier.

My DH pretty much got a steak everywhere we went but even though they were good they were not as good as the above 3 places. I think he liked the pime rib at CRT. We went there for lunch last year before they changed and it was not a character meal. He also got a steak at 50's prime time Cafe but he just thought it was O.K.

Have fun and let us know what you decide.

I agree that the best is Shulas but I would say definitely not kid friendly - much more upscale.
We tried Yachtsman last trip in a bid to compare Shulas and didn't like it as much. My favorite restaurant on property is Artist Point and I actually have had their filet and it was excellent (just not a lot of other cuts offered but some excellent 'meat and potatoes' type of options). Even though it is a nicer restaurant, my kids love it there and have always been made to feel welcome though when we take the kids we also eat on the earlier side, being seated between 5 and 6:30. During one dinner when my son was a baby one of the other waitresses (not ours) wasn't busy and carried and entertained my son so that we could eat - we tipped her too!

Good luck!

I have to agree wit some of the pp's. Yachtsmen has a great steak, but I wouldn't take my kids in there. We did however take our children to LeCellier last year during the free dining, and had a wonderful time. Very kid friendly, the food was amazing, even my 4 year old loved his steak.

The OP asked a couple of different questions, for which I'd give a couple of different answers.

As far as which place has the best steak; its hard to beat the Yachtsman Steak House. Yes, the others are pretty good too - you won't be disappointed elsewhere.

As far as the children go; I suspect they would be more at home at le Cellier or even Concourse.

Shula's is the best of the group, though as others said, expensive.

Walking shorts and collared shirts are fine for the dress, though I've also seen people with t-shirts.

No kids menu, but the portions are large, including the ala carte side dishes, so they can share.

So while its not the most kid-friendly place, as long as the kids are reasonably well-behaved in restaurants, they'll be fine. If they can be "overly-energetic", then Le Cellier is probably a better choice.

Ca Grill has one DELICIOUS filet...I think about it all year long! :thumbsup2 It was much better than the one at JIKO or Le Cellier.

My DH LOVES his steak. And I also have a busy 3 year old. We go to Disney several times throughout the year and have yet to make it to Shula's or The Yacht. We have heard that those are the top two steak places, but not very kid friendly as far as ambiance. They also have a business casual dress code. The last time we went to Concourse we didn't like the steaks at all, thin and over cooked. We also had a hard time with our daughter because Concourse is right next to Chef Mickey's so she was upset that Mickey wasn't coming to our table and that she couldn't go see Mickey. Le Cellier was great. The steaks were thick, well cooked, and had great flavorings. The beer cheese soup is an excellent start as well. And as all eateries inside the parks, it was very kid friendly; no dress codes either. Another option you might want to consider is the Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge. The Wilderness Lodge now has a kids club starting at 4:30pm you can drop your kids, ages 4-12, off for a minimal fee. You must make reservations for this. The Wilderness Lodge has a nice lounge too. Makes for a great date night, while your kids are having a blast and they feed the kids too! Hope this helps. Have a great vacation. :cool1:

We've been to Yachtsman and Le Cellier. Yachtsman was great...both dh and I enjoyed our meals. I have to say though....we love Le Cellier. The mushroom filet is the best and the meats are always wonderful. Yachtsman is much quieter than Le Cellier and the tables are spaced further apart. Pricewise, Yachtsman is more expensive and it just wasn't worth the extra price to us. We would rather go to Le Cellier. I would like to try the steak at Jiko and Cali too!

If you are willing to go off-property, Charley's in Kissimmee is a short drive away (across from Celebration) and IMO is far better and a little cheaper than Shula's. The decor at Charley's is a little bit dated but it's also not as upscale as Shula's (though how upscale can a place be when your menu is a *football*), and it's a bit more kid-friendly too, I'd say.
Outback (NOT the chain) at Buena Vista Palace at Downtown Disney is also pretty reliable for a really good steak.

Our vote is for Le Cellier. We have 3 kids (11, 7, 5) and they enjoyed it when we went last September. They loved the pretzel sticks and the interaction with our server(Stefanie). t is my husbands favorite. We haven't been to any of the others (Shula's, Yachtsman, etc...). For a family, I would recommend Le Cellier.

Shula's was the best tasting steak we had, but I think it goes beyond just not having a kids' menu. I got the impression kids were not all that welcome there. They even offer free babysitting essentially to get you to come without kids! It's also a big place for conventioners so it's best with adults only. I never saw one kid when we were there.
Le Cellier on the other hand was a close second and had plenty of little children around. They have their own menu and I even had their adorable little chocolate "moose" dessert. We're taking our 3 little ones there again in September!
Sorry, haven't tried Yachtsman yet.

We have eaten at Yachtsman Steakhouse every since trip since they opened in 91. It is wonderful! I don't have small kids, but I see them there every trip.

I have also had very good steaks at Flying Fish, Jiko and Spoodles.

My wife and I have tried many and I am a huge Prime rib fan. The best Prime Rib I've ever had was at Cinderellas Royal Table. A bit pricey but the husband and the kids would like it.
