We are gonna be going to WDW for our 2 yr anniversary at the end of Jan. Probably 20-22nd. or 27-29th. We just want a nice weekend getaway. We specifically want to have a nice steak dinner.

Does anyone have an opinion about what the best steak is and where it can be found? Yachtmans, Shula's??? Anywhere else?? :confused3

We have Seasonal AP, TIW, and might get DP just for this meal depending on the cost vs value differential. We are more than 180 days out from these weekends so we can take time to decide with your input.

Also considering renting DVC villa? Hopefully in EPCOT resort area. Boardwalk or Beach Club? How does this work? I looked at a website about renting points but I am really confused? It seems from what I have read, some DVC owners really get irritated by other owners who rent their points. Is it frowned upon? I did look at DVC forum but still confused on the process.:confused3

We loved Narcoossee's and Artist Point (buffalo steak). Yachtsman was yummy too but atmosphere is more romantic at N or AP.

Shula's or Narcoosse's I have been let down with YSH the last couple trips. Lately my favorite is the Teriyaki tenderloin at Kona Cafe (similar at Cali Grill).

Shula's. Hands down. There's not a better steak on property.

Search for "best steak" in this forum and you'll find a handful of similar threads that have been posted in the last couple of months that are full of good information on alternatives to Shula's, if that's not your thing or you decide to go for the dining plan (Shula's is not on the dining plan).

For what it's worth, if you decide to use it, I think Yachtsman makes the best steak on the dining plan.

Definitely the Gran Floridian Cafe! It also happens to be on the Disney Dining plan. The Grand Floridian is already a stunning hotel, but the cafe is very nice, although it is typically packed and seat are close. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for a more romantic and peaceful dinner!

Have to say the best steak I have had was at Whispering Canyon.

The NY Strip was fantastic! A very tasty, tender, cooked to perfection steak.

So after looking over at the Shula's website, I might have a problem. I didn't realize that the entire restaurant was Dolphin's themed. Not the animal, but Miami Dolphins. I am a fan and would have no problem going. But DBf is a HUGE Bills fan..... and hates the Phins. ALOT. In fact 2 weekends out of the year, we don't talk..... :rotfl:

Will his love for a great steak outway his hatred for my Phins???:confused3

I hope the steak wins!!!:rotfl2:

As he should. (former WNY girl here!)

Shula's is Miami Dolphin Heaven...
The food is really good.... they do put a football menu on your table to start though <g>...seriously they do. I'm sure you could ask to NOT have it there.
They put it on a kicking tee.

My favorite steak on property is the one served at Flying Fish. I think it is a 12 oz steak. Here's a description and price.. both may change too. CM told me that 1/2 the orders @ Flying Fish are for this steak.

>>Our Signature Flying Fish Café "Char-crusted Certified Black Angus New York Strip Steak" - Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Root Vegetables, and Pole Beans, with Classic Sauce Foyot $42.<<

Enjoy.

IMHO the order is as follows

1. Shula's
2. Yachtsman
3. Jiko, Cailfornia Grill, Citrico's

LOL!! I became a Sabres fan for him, but then again I didn't grow up a hockey fan, although we have 2 teams in Florida. I took him to my first game w/Sabres vs Panthers and totally fell in love with the sport.

As for our dinner, we shall see, we shall see. DECISIONS, DECISIONS!!

I think it will all depend on pricing w/OOP w/ TIW at Shula's vs DP w/TIW at the other restaurants. We are staying two nights, so if we got DP we would use the 2 table credits for a signature TS for that night and use the cs credits for dinner friday night, and lunch on saturday. We will be arriving later friday and leaving early sunday.

Flying fish has THE BEST steak on property. The steak at Brown Derby is good too. We've had steak at a lot of other places, including California Grill which was suppose to have a good steak, it didn't, at all. FF is at the Boardwalk. We were just there 4th of July weekend and it was as incredible as ever!

Mrs LS,
I agree with you. I never had the steak until my wife got it. NOW Flying Fish has to have a knock out seafood special for me NOT to get their steak.

Other places have a good steak, but for cut, variety, etc nothing on property can match Shula's.

If someone else is paying Shula's otherwise I've continuoulsy had great steaks at Yachtsmen, Blue Zoo (they do everything well there, my favorite restaurant), and yes even at Le Cellier!

I never order a NY strip but something possessed me to do so at the Yachtsman this past Feb and it was amazing, I had the sauce on the side as the steak really didnt need it. The meat was so flavorful and tender I ate the entire thing.

Check the menu's side by side. Yachtsman's is more expensive AND for less quality.

IMHO the buffalo steak at Artist's Point in Wilderness Lodge is worth going for. If you want something different that you have never had. The restaurant is also beautiful and well-themed. If you don't want anything gamey, I'd go with the filet at Hollywood Brown Derby. Comes over risotto adn is excellent! If you go Brown Derby get the Creme-Brulee for dessert.
