We were planning on driving to WDW for our trip next month, but are thinking that we may just fly instead.

What site is the best for finding the best price on tickets?

I think flying out of Dallas is the cheapest for us (OKC seems to be really expensive) but its a three hour drive there.

Any suggestions?

I've never had any luck dealing with the websites for airline tickets....I do better going directly through the airline website. Go luck to you.

i usually check expedia, since they will list all flights from the airport to your destination. Then go to the airline''s website that has the best flight schedule and fare.
It works out easy for us when going to MCO, Jet Blue and Continental go non-stop to MCO, for other locations it's usually CO, since our airport is CO's major hub.

If I want to see all the info, I go to kayak.com, and also check southwest.com (kayak can't get the info from SW's system).

I occassionally book through a travel website like travelocity, orbitz, etc, but that's when the rate is the same (or, in theory, lower) and I'm getting "rewards" from my rewards site that I use, and when I know I won't worry about trying to get a lower price, etc etc. But usually I just book directly through the airline website.

Same here. We found great rates and sometimes better than the Expedias etc.:wizard:

We also book directly through the airline. If there are issues later on, it is much easier when you don't have to try to deal with third parties.

Try Hipmunk.com. It presents the information better. But I never buy ticekts through third party sites. Only direct from the airline.

I always buy on the airlines website. Anytime I've tried Orbitz or Travelocity and it showed a lower rate than the airlines website, it errored when I tried to buy it (fare no longer available).

I've found the same thing as Debbie, with Orbitz.

I agree with bumbershoot - southwest.com because their prices aren't available on Kayak, and kayak.com for everything else. Why? Because you're not buying from them, they're just the search engine. You click through to the provider with the best price - usually the airline itself - and buy direct.

Hipmunk.com has a great interface.

But Hipmunk.com excludes American Airlines and Southwest Airlines. That makes Hipmunk.com nearly worthless from here in the Chicago area (at least until they get that fixed).

American is the airline I fly the most. Southwest is the airline I respect the most. And they are two of the three biggest carriers out of the Chicago metro area.

I use Kayak.com to compare airlines. I also look directly at Southwest. Then I book at the website of whatever airline I choose.

When comparing airlines, be sure to consider the real price, including checked luggage and change fees. Often, Southwest will be more expensive. But when you consider that Southwest allows two pieces of checked luggage per passenger with no fee, that Southwest is much more passenger-friendly if your plans change, and that you can get a credit toward future travel if your Southwest fare goes down after ticketing, then the best choice is not necessarily the one with the lowest fare.

we have used sidestep.com a bunch of times and have gotten some good deals.

I fly Southwest  and the only place to get their tickets in on their website :tinker:
